Yes, yes, yes, no, yes, yes. Do you have the ability to distinguish between the necessities of daily life and a pure entertainment product? Can we please go with Dave's notion now? I'm sick and tired of justifiying myself like a backstabbing Judas, just because I do things differently than you.

Priorities, man. Give me a break! Would you seriously put flight simulation on the same list as water...? Electricity???!!! *Gasp* Yes, I hold all of those things to be more important than flight simulation...
Really, well looking at your PC specs it seems that you went out to your money tree... and picked, ALOT.

+1....This is absurd. LOL.gif

After reading the opinions from those who are against monthly subscriptions, I am sort of leaning that way after initially posting to be for the monthly subscription, I can see their point. My main concern is LM's long term commitment to the "professional" users, it could easily be closed down one day, it's hardly their core business. At least with Microsoft they left the activation server running. But there needs to be ongoing money in it for the devs for long term commitment in the platform, FSX had two SP's released then that's it, because sales eventually drop off. Scenery devs can just keep releasing scenery to bring in the money. I am more than happy to spend a few hundred a year on the base platform to keep it going with improvements, flightsim is my most important past time, other hobbies cost a lot more than that a year. I used to fly GA for real, 3 hour flight would cost me $700! The base platform is the most important component for us!

Says the guy paying $120 a year to use FSX. Whistle.gif You're officially becoming the spokesperson for the P3D ###### Committee. What is it with people that can't understand differences of opinions in here? I've mentioned I like the idea of supporting them (P3D), but then I hear absurd things like comparing an FSX subscription to the utilities bill. LOL.gif BTW, Ben. I paid for my ratings myself. I feel I deserve a little something for me.

I think that the real thing to consider is if LM is actually interested in us hobbyists. If every serious flight simmer in the world ponied up $500, it still would amount to less that what any of the many governments around the world give them for one F-16. Think about where they are really marketing their products: It isn't to us. They are in the business of selling as many multi-million dollar aircraft around the world as possible (C-5, C-130/L-100/L-382, C-141, F-16, F-22 Raptor, F-35, P-3/L-188/S-3 and the U-2. Plus all of the many systems they sell in support of these plus the out of manufacture legacy aircraft they still support, ATC and radar systems, space exploration, fire control systems and all of the other things they do are extremely valuable. Investing in hobbyist flight simulation is at the bottom of the list for them. As somebody said, I think they are letting people use Prepar3d to test what will eventually be a very advanced military simulation that we will never get to see. If it was purely a flight simulator, why put in coding for submersibles, unless you want to send your P-3 after a Kilo-class sub, which we have affordable military flight simulators to do for us. Did you ever wonder why Microsoft suddenly gave up one of what had to be one of their most profitable divisions, Aces Studio? Just maybe, it was because Lockheed Martin saw the potential of FSX for a full blown military simulator and offered Bill more than he could refuse for the license and apparently a number of contracts of the programmers at Aces. Anyhow, take your shots at me, but also think about this. Lockheed Martin is not in the hobby business. They are in the war fighting business, and they are good at it.

LM won't be getting a cent from me. I'm happy where PMDG have taken FS with more products to come, that will do me nicely thank you.

The NGX seems to have already pushed FSX to the limits of it's capabilities so we are depending on MS Flight becoming a worthy successor. IF it turns out to be a dud, then P3D will likely become the best choice available for dedicated simmers if they are happy to pay for it. This also depends on the support of third party developers of course. I'd pay $10 a month for my favourite indoor hobby if P3D was the latest and greatest Flight Sim available.

I think we lost sight of the real issue here which is.. what colour joystick we should use.Seriously,Putting up a poll will not convince PMDG either way of deciding will they or won't they support p3d.Only PMDG can decide this, and we are not in a position to decide this for them.

Actually, it's a great way to spur support. If it doesn't accomplish that, it makes for a decent forum discussion.

This plane kicks &@($* in FSX. If you dont like FSX then thats a different story. 500, sorry but unless im bulidng a home simulator, ill stick with fsx. at the moment the addons are better and if you run a beast computer you will rock out with the ngx and fsx and many many add on seamlessly just as i do. no need for p3d.
