The very best regional jet/turboprop

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,I'm flying the NGX pretty much exclusively these days, but I'm really looking for a good short hop ship. Something in the Dash-8/ATR/CRJ range. What is the very best offering in this category currently released, and maybe on the near horizon? Thanks!George

The upcoming Carenado King Air looks really nice - maybe smaller that you were looking for.. but nice!

+1...it's a very nice airplane whose systems are modelled well. I fly this one often.

None and everybody wants to build a mega jet.
I disagree, the Feelthere ERJ v2 and E-Jets are good regional jets with excellent FMS simulations, there are the upcoming Aerosoft and Wilco CRJ's, the PMDG JS4100 is the best overall regional turboprop/aircraft currently, and the upcoming Majestic Simulations Dash 400 looks amazing in the preview shots and videos.

My picks1. PMDG JS4100 (No FMC though)2. Feelthere CRJs (Great in-depth FMS)Both are Navigraph supported and a treat to fly.

The PMDGJ41 does have a fully simulaed FMC

Hi there George,I spend a lot of FSX time in regional or business jets and my favorites are the Feelthere ERJ V.2, Feelthere Ejets V.2 and the Eaglesoft Citation X.Their FMS's are a little different from the Boeing lineup, but very interesting and quite involved.Chris

Absolutely. Though the subject simulated isn't very popular these days in the US.

Thanks for contributing to the thread. I see you still have a way of being very helpful. I appreciate that!

Couldn't agree more.

Plenty of FMC on the JS4100.As for the Wilco ERJ V2: Lately I've tried to get back into it, but seeing as how most of my flights are at night, I'm finding the VC to be very irritating. Night lighting is the weakest point of the product. Otherwise, it's my favorite regional airliner besides the JS4100.Another great add-on was the Saab 340 from Flight Factory Simulations (FFS). It's FS2004 only, but figured I'd mention it anyway. It was my favorite aircraft to fly when I used FS9.

PMDG J41 and Wilco Ejets

Thanks for the corrections folks, would hate for someone to get the wrong idea.

If you expand the criteria to FS9, then it is the Supronov Yak-40 and as a second choice, the Aeroworx Beech King Air, but in FSX, it is unquestionably PMDG's BAe J-41 Jetstream, which is without doubt the best regional airliner you can get for FSX, even though it is not the most popular aircraft in the world by any stretch of the imagination.FSX 'also rans' (only in the sense that they don't quite match the PMDG bird) worth considering include Wilco's regional jets, Majestic's deHavilland Dash 8Q 300, Flight 1's ATR-72, and at a push, AeroSim's NAMC YS-11 and just possibly Just Flight's Vickers Viscount if you want something 'old school' and aren't a major eye candy fan.Al

Agreed. It's really the only FSX native regional turboprop around. It is excellent. Cruises around 280-300 KTAS.
