Actually it's great for me since I rarely fly online outside of US (yes I'm scared)

Wow, this is a nice upgrade!

It's also going to be very helpful to me on a project. I like using paper charts when simming, and I prefer 1:1,000,000 scale so I don't have so many charts cluttering up the place. I don't need all the fine detail on 1:500,000 scale charts for sims, anyway. I've flown mostly in the US, due to the ready availability of WACs, which I find perfect for VFR simming.

Having recently discovered the awesomeness of ORBX scenery areas, I'm flying a lot in the PNY/CRM/NRM/PF area, with Tongass Fjords added along the northern edge. However, a big chunk of this area is Canadian territory in the gap between the Alaska WACs and the Continental US WACs. Rather than get Sectional-equivalent Canadian VFR charts at 1:500,000 scale, I wanted something at the same scale as the WACs. The only ready alternative seems to be ONCs, and ONC E-15 is a perfect fit to cover the portions of those scenery areas not detailed on the US WACs. I can't find a paper copy of it anywhere, but I have found a decent scan. And I have access to a printer with a 48" width capability, which is more than enough to make my own paper copy.

Problem is, ONC E-15 was last updated in 1991. And ONCs don't show frequencies or identifier codes, anyway, though they do mark airport and navaid locations by name. So, I'm going to doctor this one up myself by adding the missing information, removing any facilities that no longer exist, and adding the newly built facilities to the chart. I was prepared to dig though the information that is published online already, but the SkyVector "World VFR" charts will make this easy.

Once I'm done, I'll dump it in the Library, in case anyone else wants it. I expect demand will be a lot lower now, though, with SkyVector offering the same area digitally. My upgraded ONC will be a lot more printable, though, especially if you want it at the proper scale, all on one 57.5"x42" sheet.

Perhaps this should be used in Plan-G instead of openstreetmaps, or google. Probably wishfull thinking.

I checked out Afghanistan, the other side of the world from me, and the charts look very good there. The weather information will make long haul flight planning a treat too. Time to dust off the A2A Stratocruiser. Thanks a bunch to the people at SkyVector.
