I can't wait to sit into the new flight deck, HUD as standard, built in EFBs, keyboard and mouse pad! Just noticed that the rudder pedals are different to the standard pedals airbus use, wonder the logic behind the change.

The 350 flight-deck is in a mess! But have a look at those HUGE screens! :Applause: :Silly:

It's obviously been built with the FS market in mind. Looks just like a home cockpit ;-)

Over 10 years here and AVSIM is still my favourite FS site :-)

The A350 sure looks like a beauty, bet it could fly without the engines. The A350 looks like it is larger than the A330 according to the specs. The A350XWB link that was provided on the first page is a must see. Looking forward to seeing her fly.

I personally don't think it looks that dramatic. The body of a 787 (plus or minus obviously) and the wings of an A330 (again, not exactly) with the blended winglets taken a little farther and pulled back (for some reason). In regards to the cockpit, in my opinion the company with the largest LCDs shall not have the prettiest layout. This is pretty much a 100% run-of-the-mill Airbus cockpit with a couple of gigantic screens thrown in. As simmers we love our computer screens, but I think something like Concorde is really a beautiful cockpit. It looks like hell when you first peer in, but if you learn it you know everything has a place, and is precisely where it should be. Flipping between this and that status page on a computer screen cheapens cockpit design to me.

The A350 will probably be the easiest and cheapest home cockpit simulator anyone can make. The huge displays takes up most of the cockpit.

However those wings and front fuselage look a bit like the ones proposed on the 777X.

Exactly, if that planes were bought on looks and for giving passengers a good sight seeing tour we'd still be flying around in aircraft like this:

......video.....

Looks and sightseeing are more fun!

But you're not going to get that nowadays from airlines. You're absolutely right, modern commercial aviation is all about money and cost cutting. It does bring about a unique set of problems - 'cattle class' being one of them, and also serious obstacles for many trying to break though and build a career in aviation, especially as a pilot.

Thanks for the update on the A350, her winglets do look nice! It would be interesting to see how the 787 and A350 stack up against one another - once she starts flying and finishes certification we'll start to see a build up in the on-going Airbus v Boeing battle. Think the A350 engines have already been type certified recently this month.

Comes to the point were they all look the same. I recall a picture of a B777 in Cathay's headquarters just before delivery with the caption "Haven't we got a big twin already? They are all the same".

The A350 and the 787 represent the next step for both manufacturers, looks count for nothing, if they need to take or split a wing to gain payload and reduce weight they will, doesn't matter what it looks like.

Boeing has closed the innovation gap, after Airbus brought out heavy composites, FBW and wingtip fences, Boeing has slowly caught up. Now with the 787 and the A350, you can only wonder what further step of innovation and safety we can expect in their next model in 10-20 years' time!

With a DH Dragon, Atlantic crossings may become a little impractical seeing as two of the four passenger seats would have to be taken up by relief crew for the 27 hour crossing, and that's only if there were no fuel stops along the way, we'd be looking at a fair few fuel stops along the way LOL. Add in a stewardess and you've only 1 seat left for a passenger, so that'd mean we'd need 322 just to operate the one route we can do now with out A330-302. Not entirely practical... :P

The A350 and B787 don't serve the exact same market, the smallest version of the A350 will be larger than the currently planned largest version of the 787, though the A350-1000 will pose quite the challenge to the B777, so that'll be interesting to see when Boeing start working on their B777-X.

Those are some wild looking winglets. Standing room only unfinished cockpit lol. Hawaiian is ordering A350s to start replacing their 767 fleet in about 3-4 years

There's something in the works as we speak, nothing official yet, and I can't say much at the moment, but expect an announcement very soon, maybe even in time for late this summer.
