April 8, 201313 yr FSX is capable of SO much more. Ya, like sapping the life out of your frame rates ....... Why don't people just admit that FSX is the FS2000 of its day? There are a few advancements in features, but at the expense of the overall experience, i.e., spending more time tweaking to an impossible goal than flying! .....that's my story today and I'm stick'n to it!
April 8, 201313 yr I think I remember reading someone from iFly saying they will make an FS9 version of their next one. They haven't announced what it is yet, and I don't know if they've even decided what they're doing yet. The whole development for FS9 debate has been going in another thread, and I can completely understand commercial reasons for no longer developing for FS9. Fact of that matter is, FSX is by far more widely used nowadays, since the hardware is finally catching up. The iFly 737 was immensely popular among FS9ers, so that's probably why they said they'd keep doing FS9 stuff.
April 8, 201313 yr or all development are now for FSX :( ? thanks for sharing some good news! Ghiom All development now is mainly for FSX. I'm enjoying the years of addon's I've bought for FS9 so it's not a big deal. I'm perfectly fine using what I have until I heard the word I can install FSX and run it flat out without tweaks maxed out. A day when hardware will be so powerful FSX has no choice but to run well with any add-on thrown at it. With that expectation I very well may never end up using FSX... :drinks:  FS2004 is 10 years old. FSX is capable of SO much more. Not nearly as many add-ons being made for FS2004. Developers begin to limit themselves if they develop for FS2004. It continues to become more work to develop for both sims because of how little FS2004 can actually do. April 8, 201313 yr Sad to read that a forum administrator can make such a biased and unbalanced comment in an FS9 forum. Do he really think that those of us on here are so uninformed that we needed to read this? What he doesn't seem to get is that FS9 is still widely used because of what it CAN do after ten years - not what it can't do. I have no interest in reviving the pointless argument about FSX vs FS9 - there are advantages to both. But this comment is unhelpful and provides the OP with no useful information whatsoever. In reply to the OP - I don't know of any user flyable aircraft under development for FS9 and doubt that we can expect any further payware aircraft - but we've been surprised before on that topic. There does continue to be a steady stream of AI aircraft, especially military aircraft, such as the recently released F104, Bucanneer, Hunter, Canberra, F5, Victor, Vulcan, Tucano etc. After ten years, the supply of new addons has slowed but not yet stopped. And who knows - some other developer may decide to investigate the Carenado technique of porting FSX aircraft over into FS9. If there's a market, why not? And if no new aircraft comes, I have enough addons to keep me challenged for another ten years anyway!!! Cheers Ian FS2004 is 10 years old. FSX is capable of SO much more. April 8, 201313 yr I agree with the FS9'ers. With all the add ons already available, we can still enjoy FS9 for a looooong time. Not to mention Aerosoft sceneries are still being released for FS9. Doesn't matter if FS9 is 10 years old. We enjoy it. I don't understand why some people always feel the need to put down FS9. I also have FSX with add ons installed on the same machine and get good performance out of it, but I still prefer FS9 and fly it 99% of the time. Great to hear iFly is working on something for FS9. This is FS9 forum and we don't actually need anyone to preach why sticking with FS9 instead FSX or such.
April 8, 201313 yr @OP: I also have the same question too, since Qualitywings won't make a Fs9 version of their 787. But oh well, there are still plenty more aircrafts to enjoy. Even though my PC could actually run FSX. I still stick with Fs9. Since I've spent so much time, money and love into it. Can't just stop using it. Still have many things to learn here. April 8, 201313 yr FS9 as a flight simulator is just as good/as bad/as complete/as incomplete as FSX. The differences are about graphics - eye-candy. And these benefits come at some cost: The expenses for new hardware could alternatively buy a huge number of FS9 addons. That being said it's gonna be touch 'n' go for new FS9 planes. As mentioned above, QWSim have just turned away from FS9 - this could happen any time with any (remaining) developer. I still put some expectations into smaller companies/single person developers like, say, Lionheart Creations. But I can't give guarantees, of course. So I'm grateful for those BAe146s, Avroliners, 737NGXs and the like that have been released recently or are about to be released. For the latest cool, modern, systems-simulated-in-depth airliners you sooner or later will have to turn towards a different sim. The good news are: The later you make that transition, the more money you can save ... What happened to AVSIM
April 8, 201313 yr I have said this before........I wish that FSX wasn't made ,so we would never had to tweak more than flying. Developers like PMDG,QW, Aerosoft would still develop for FS9 and we would have all planes that now are only FSX native!!!! Yes I play FSX with 25-30 FPS locked at any airport with NGX, but my mind will always be at FS9. I switched to FSX because of PMDG 777 and QW 787, if those planes were made for FS9 , for me FSX wouldn't exist !!!!! I wish we could have gotten one more version developed after FSX but to have FSX be the final version (well, for now) really hit home in this community... I can't seem to give up my trouble free experience with FS9. FSX will be a constant grind to get it to work right let alone setting it up to where I want it. If Steve Ballmer steps down after this Windows 8 fiasco blows up along with all the other bad ideas he's had I'm sure those with a vested interest in seeing Microsoft regain it's glory will bring Flight Simulator back. Their not keeping the code for nothing and I'msure those that care see the value in Lockheed and aviation in general. Microsoft has the best virtual option around a new smart CEO will see that. April 8, 201313 yr I see Michael Pearson has just released another wonderful AI aircraft for FS9. And I know there are others on the way. Nuff said... Ian
April 8, 201313 yr The SkySpirit fellows are working on a 787 (with good batteries ) While I used the Camsim 787s for a time, they struck me as being "perfect," never any problems ...
