Cell phone shopping stinks

You would think with all the different models and such out there it'd be easy to pick one.

I know what I want but the 'package' as a whole never comes together. It's either to expensive, has a feature missing I'd like, plan too spendy, carrier doesn't carry the model, poor sound, bad reception, too big......the list goes on.

My near 3 year old phone is still working but slowly dying and getting rather war torn.

I'm tired of searching and reading online.

Guess I'll have to do like I vote for politicians, pick the least of the evil.

Galaxy S4 hands down, best phone I've owned so far.

HTC One FTW. Initially, I was planning on buying the galaxy s4 and went to the store to go buy it. The HTC One caught my eye and gave it a try.

It just looks absolutely Amazing!!! It feels like a million dollar item. The full HD screen is just so damn sharp!. I loaded up an airport chart and guess what? Every letter looked clear and sharp without having the need to zoom in and out. Comparing it to the S4, the colours on the S4's display looked rather artificial and oversatured.

The so called 'boom sound' was astonishingly crisp, loud and perfect. The One had not one but two speakers which were front facing while the S4 had one tiny rear facing speaker and also felt sort of like a toy because of its plastic body.I made a last minute decision in the store and went for the HTC One. Had it for 2 months now and I'm not dissapointed.

Have been lucky enough to spend some time with the S4 and the HTC..they are both awesome phones. S3 is great too. Despite lack of apps, Windows phones may be worth a thought. IMO, ios is way down the bottom of the list. I don't find it as intuitive as the winpho or Android

Can you get a sim-only plan and just buy the phone yourself?

I would recommend the iPhone 5, but I would also recommend the Samsung Galaxy S4. A lot of people have said the S4 is an amazing phone, the features it has, the way it looks surely beats the iPhone 5 in many ways...

After having got myself an Iphone 4, I now wish I had considered maybe something like the Galaxy S4. The Iphone is OK, but IMO that's all.

My only experience with a Samsung phone was a Galaxy S. That was a terrible phone. Samsung does not offer a good warranty in terms of fairness. For these reasons, I personally will never know how good a Galaxy 4 is. We have had good luck with Iphones.

Although, I must say you will be pleasantly surprised with the upcoming iOS 7. I have been using it since its launch to Apple Developers in June. Its far better than the previous versions of iOS and it does make your iPhone feel a lot newer, even if its over two years old.

Hmm, sure,Ciaran, and then they said that about the Iphone 4 and the Iphone 3 and the Iphone 2 etc etc

Maybe the OP would prefer living in a command economy where customers had to buy what they were offered with no choice?

Point taken.

Problem with me is I have a perfect phone product my head then I find it doesn't exist. All the features exist, but they are not in one package.

I just get the $35 phone and pay as you go package because I am cheap and nasty

Works for me, but it is true, it is daunting all the options out there right now and how obsolete they become so quickly. Also the glass screens keep on breaking.

I'm Dyslexic, what's an error to you is not to me

All I want is a phone.  I need to text sometimes, but I don't need a web browser or a GPS or a way to keep up with the Kardashians.  If I'm home or at work, I've got a full-sized computer screen, and if I'm not home I don't want a computer.

It's getting harder and harder to find one.  The Pantech I got when my Samsung wore out after 5 or 6 years of faithful service isn't as good as the Samsung.  The providers are pushing everyone to get Smartphones so they can gouge them for data plans.

These are not the Androids you're looking for!
