August 31, 201312 yr Gents- (Well... and that guy who can't seem to remember to sign his posts... him too... I suppose....) I have to tell you that I really appreciate your understanding on our decision to hold the release until we could properly assure that we had fixed the problem. Tonight, I have flown the airplane KLAX-KSFO-KBOS-KIAD... (had to be home tonight... you know how it is...) and for the first time in a while I can say that I think we are finished. I found two little minor picky items I am going to fix in the morning- because I can. B) In about 24hrs we are going to build what I expect to be the final release version... and then we will give the Tech and Beta teams a few days to make CERTAIN we didn't miss anything truly bad. For those who wonder: we have about 60 people using the airplane and reporting back. Some of these guys are flying short hops like I did tonight... and some are flying 16 hour legs in real time. Why would they do this? To help us make sure it works. I had the good fortune to be at UAL when we brought the 777 into service- and I had the good fortune to be around this airplane during a good portion of my UAL career. You all know that my heart is evenly split between the 744 and the DC-3, but darn if this thing isn't a blast to fly.... You guys are going to absolutely LOVE this airplane. I promise. Thanks again for the words of encouragement and the patience... It is almost in your hands! This post was a 100% better than the earlier one. Thanks for the good news Robert Lionel
August 31, 201312 yr Right. because we can just force our unpaid beta testers and real-world pilots, our server support staff etc to work all day and all night on a holiday weekend - all for you, "Keith77L". And there's so many good reasons we'd want to delay for the fun of it and not make money right? It's all a big conspiracy to stop you from flying something that you already know works. You got us. I've slept a grand total of about 10 hours this entire week while we've tried to finish this - some of us on the team even less than that. Your insinuation is flat out insulting. I really feel with you Tabs. Oliver Donner
August 31, 201312 yr You dig a hole .... And then fall in yourself. That's what hyping a product does. Off course, if then what's alluded to in the posts get's delayed, people will be dissappointed. You guys make great software, but the marketing and hyping part of it, is going a little overboard Sean De Maere
August 31, 201312 yr I am so glad that school is starting again if you read some of those replies above me. Developing software can be a pain in the .... If you have a bug, can repoduce it and you know where it is comming from, how big it is you can descide to fix it now or later depending how serious it is and unther what circumstances it occures. If you know theres a bug but you don't know how to repoduce it you are in trouble. PMDG did the only right thing to hold up release and fix it. I know how its like to look at coding 18+ hours a day. Sometimes the only solution to find a bug is a good night sleep. Turning on the computer in the morning and seeing the problem right away :-) And besides, they only added two more days on the release window. Thanks for the update. I will buy this beast when I come back from my holliday within 2 weeks! +1 Signed, Regards, Daniel
August 31, 201312 yr Thanks for the update, Rob. Looks like this weekend will be a bug-tracking one in the Airbus Karl Brooker
August 31, 201312 yr If you knew it would happen then why were you setting yourself up for it? PMDGs got a point there! Looks like this weekend will be a bug-tracking one in the Airbus What do you speak of?? Jerad Burns
August 31, 201312 yr Posted Today, 02:34 AM Spot on Ryan (as usual) waiting for a quality product is a price I am willing to pay having experienced the alternative! Bill McLauchlan
August 31, 201312 yr (...) Sometimes, the worst part about being an airline pilot is when you hear ATC call you on the frequency and say, "We have holding instructions for you, advise me when you are ready to copy..." (...) Actually I was tempted to post a holding request (rather facetiously, as usual ) because of some RW stuff that's been keeping me busy since last week, which I expect to be settled within the next week. The news - again, I'm being rather facetious - could not have been better, Robert! Seriously again: No harm done. Releases have time estimates and internal timelines, but no guaranteed dates. What happened to AVSIM
August 31, 201312 yr Cheers for the update, RSR. I am amazed at the fact the team pulled 18 hour days at some stage. Hope they didn't crank open too many Red Bulls (we don't want the dev team getting any heart issues now do we  ). Looking forward to flying her later this week! August 31, 201312 yr Posted Today, 05:30 AM Thanks to all the team for the hard work, I know this will be a fantastic product. Bill McLauchlan
August 31, 201312 yr Sigh, I knew this would happen. Very frustrating. Was looking forward to flying this after a long stressful work week, now that we have a 4 day weekend. Arghhh. I'm not keeping my hopes up no more. Who knows, when next week comes, there will probably be another delay of some sort that will get the release date push backed another few weeks or months. So you are keeping your hopes up then??? Do you know what a double negative is?
August 31, 201312 yr I totally understand PMDG want's to deliver us a very high Quality Level aircraft simulation, so no problems waiting a bit more. Regards, Stefaan Cappelle
August 31, 201312 yr So you are keeping your hopes up then??? Do you know what a double negative is? August 31, 201312 yr One more week or one more month, the geek side of me cries, the customer side of me just says thank you, the main thing is to have a perfect product, thanks for the update !
August 31, 201312 yr Thanks Captain for the headsup! Good catch on that mouse problem Beta team and happy you could fix it up! Andreu EscuainHPE-560es i7 2600 - 12GB RAM - [3GB] nVidia GeForce GT 440
