September 1, 201312 yr In the last month Orbx Global - Must have Q400 - Must have, can´t get enough of those turboprop sounds, amazing. FSGRW - Fed up with Opus DHM kidding me on I had turbulence, FSGRW gives you real turbulence, murky days, great clouds, a must for GA flyers. Scratching my head to remember Orbx Scotland - I am Scottish! It´s one of their best, like the country itself, it´s far better than England. GSX - Used it a lot and liked it, but not using it so much now, not flying in FSX as much with my young daughter arriving 7 weeks ago. ---------------- Waiting on A2A 172 (out today???) , skipping ORBX NI as it´s too expensive. Skipping PMDG 777 until winter (babies take priority!) -Iain Watson-
September 1, 201312 yr Commercial Member not flying in FSX as much with my young daughter arriving 7 weeks ago Congrats. My son just turned one this past week. Reflecting on the past year, I found that after about 8 weeks or so, my simming time increased a lot (our little baby slept a ton!), but then it started to decrease as our little one got more out of the habit of always sleeping and more into a regular schedule. The only nice thing is that he now is on a pretty firm in-bed-by-7:30 pattern, which leaves a nice bit of time later in the evening after mom goes to bed for some decent simming. ^_^ Jim Stewart Milviz Person.
September 1, 201312 yr Author Dennis, okay, so what you are saying is that if you put MSE above Global FTX, that you will have the benefit of FTX overlaying that of the photo real of MSE so that when you depart KSAN as an example, you won't have flat terrain view but one that is populated with the FTX gen? No. FTX Global doesn't overlay anything. MSEv2 overlays FTX Global. That is how you could see Alabama in MSEv2, because it was over the FTX Global in Alabama. Since I did not load MSEv2 Mississippi, you could see the underlying FTX Global in Mississippi. Tomorrow, I'm going to do some more experiments with layer order in the scenery library because this discussion has raised a couple of other questions in my mind. If you have MSEv2, you will see the ugly flat terrain on takeoff (unless you have 3rd party airport scenery layered above MSEv2 in the scenery library). Some people take off with the autogen FTX Global then, once they are airborne a ways, they pause the sim and load the MSEv2 they desire. It's kinda crazy, but .... September 1, 201312 yr Let's see. Many of you are much better at controlling their purses, so my latest five purchases are from this summer. 1. Ultimate Traffic 2. I tried to populate my airports in many ways, SDK, freeware AI utilitiies and so on. Static planes would have been enough, but none of those efforts worked, so this was an easy solution. With traffic sliders around 30% I'm still able to have descent FPS and enjoy live traffic. 2. Tropicalsim Bilbao, Spain. I don' t fly in Spain, but lately I've expanded my aviation interest to airport histories and architecture and because Bilbao is often referred to in examples of modern airport architecture I purchased this addon just to see how does it look like. For a poor man 13 euros was a cheaper choice than to fly there and see it in real. 3. CS777. Completely futile purchase for me as I hate long hauls and I think those planes used in those routes are fat and ugly. I guess this buy was a protest against the common bashing of CS products. Well, had already enough fun for 9.99€, and I will put in good use at some time as I fly often real schedules of airlines I fancy. 4. Lionheart Fairchild 24. It was surprisingly discounted for a few days and I took the opportunity to get it as I love classics. Forgive me saying this, but I have felt this producer's planes to be a bit toyish and I haven't installed the ones I have in my present FSX. This time I jumped to the roof as the plane is a gem. I have flown it a lot and its one of my favourites at the moment. It looks sexy and sounds are top notch as well. 5. AS2012 upgrade to AS X. For years I complained about the upgrade price for former customers and finally they took me seriously? Any way, with 20€ upgrade price I finally agreed to pay it. The most annoying thing, the sharp and unrealistic mist or fog layer is gone, which was good enough for the upgrade, but otherwise there are many steps backwards from the old version. Namely the user interface, which is more complicated to use and the textures which are odd enough much worse than in ASX. Without a help of a fellow Avsim member, who provided a useful combination of textures, I would have probably reverted to the old version. I have tried OPUS and FSRGW, both are good but I guess I have invested my money on this so I stick with it. Well, this was a refreshing experience to explain recent shopping choices.
September 1, 201312 yr From newest to oldest purchases: 5. Ant's Eaglet - great little plane for the price. 4. Carenado C185 Bush - got it on sale but tbh I never really liked it for some reason. 3. Realair turbine duke - great plane but lower fps on my not so new system. 2. A2A Accu-feel - a no brainer at that price. 1. Orbx Cessnock - got it on sale. I often stay at the NSW Hunter Valley wine region and always make an effort to visit this GA airport when I'm there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free

September 1, 201312 yr FTXG isn't a scenery layer. It's base textures just like GEX was/is. The Orbx landclass in the scenery library is just that; landclass telling FSX where to place certain textures. There is no FTXG landclass for North America yet; only the Baltic demo/preview and I think maybe some SE Asia. It doesn't matter where in the scenery library MSE is, you will not get any autogen from FTXG or see any FTXG textures. I leave all my photoscenery at the very bottom above the Microsoft default stuff. It doesn't need to be anywhere else. Brent Baker
September 1, 201312 yr Let me see (this thread's actually great to control myself a bit): Latest: Twin Otter Extended Kastellorizo Alabeo Staggerwing AN-2 Earliest:Skiathos, GAP 3 (And the earliest of them date back to the middle of May, so I have had a better control of my money than I initially thought  - but the I still have some major investments coming in the next few weeks: FTXG, C172,... ) Florian
September 1, 201312 yr 1. PFPX ... Loving it so far. I did my first flight with it earlier taking the NGX YBBN-YBTL. Fuel was very close to the predictions and predicted flight time was 1:39. Low and behold my actual flight time was exactly 1:39. Doing a MD-11 Freight run WSSS-VHHH now to see how close that is. I've also done a few 777 flightplans for next weekend. Looking forward to the KLAX-YBAS run. 2. Just Flight Tristar ... I brought on sale for $8 knowing full well that is pretty basic. I probably do the odd run for fun every now and then. Definitely glad I didn't pay $45 for it though. 3. Latin VFR Kingston MKJP ... Nice little Caribbean airport I've only done a single flight in so far 4. Air Hauler ... Started a little airline based out of KNEW. Did a couple of flights isn't really my sort of thing. I have a few #5's that were purchased in the same transaction 5a. Latin VFR Bermuda TXKF ... Nicely done love the approach in. 5b. Latin VFR Key West KEYW ... Nice short runway love taking the 737 in and out. 5c. AES Credits 5d. Aerosoft/29 Palms Skiathios LGSK ... September 1, 201312 yr FeelThere E-Jets - Got it on a whim in one of JustFlight's sales. VC textures are pretty dated but its a pretty nice plane to fly MilViz 737 - Still learning that one but its a very nice add-on and worth every penny MilViz P38 - I like P38's so that was a no-brainer JustFlight L-1011 - This was a waste Carenado TBM-850 - See JustFlight L-1011 Chris Magnus HR Manager Air Jamaica Virtual Airlines and Cargo (http://www.airjamaicavirtualairlinesandcargo.org)
September 1, 201312 yr From latest to oldest: 1) KNQX NAS Key West by Mile High Sims...wanting to love it, having some issues 2) T-28 sounds by SkySong Soundworks...meh, not enough of an improvement over Ant's sounds 3) C-130 All-in-one Pack by CaptainSim...hadn't had time to use it, was waiting for the 9 euro sale 4) J-15 Naval Flanker by Bear Studios...love their market focus and systems simulation 5) EFB by SimFlyer...can't say it's a disappointment for $5 but was more of an experiement purchase than a "might use" My MSFS 2020 repaints: Flightsim.to - Profile of HStreet Working on MSFS 2024 versions.

September 1, 201312 yr Good thread Dennis. My last 5 don't really reflect the types of addons I particularly fly. It's more just that I am a junkie like Dennis, so buy (almost) everything. Last 5 bought - Alabeo PA38 Tomahawk (Regret) - TSS MD-11 PW HD Sound Pack (Love it!) - Carenado CT206H (Regret) - McPhat DC-9 UHDT VC (Regret) - FTX Global (Love it ..... and then some!) .......other recent purchases; Captain Sim 707 (on sale; pretty good!), MilViz 737 (a bit unfinished for what I want in it (FL CH etc) but shows great potential), Eaglesoft CJ1+ 2.0 (returned.....lightyears away from the quality of the awesome CX 2.0 IMHO).
