Your last 5 add-on purchases

Featured Replies

Sad to say that among my last five purchases there are several that I would list in the "Regrettable Purchases" thread.

However, in the order of last purchase:

1)  Electronic Flight Bag for FSX

2)  FS Global Weather

3)  Scenery Tech Landclass

4)  MegaSceneryEarth V2 - Illinois

5)  Orbx - FSX Go Tweak & Launch

No holiday here, just a normal weekend.

Last five purchases:

Orbx - FTX: EU Northern Ireland
Orbx - FTX: EU EGTR Elstree Airfield Download
Orbx - FTX: EU EGHA Compton Abbas Airfield Download
Orbx - FTX: EU Scotland
Orbx - FTX: EU EGKA Shoreham Airport

-

My latest purchases haven't been 'game changers'.

1.  Orbx Australia - much better tha FSX Australia but doesn't capture my imagination much yet.

2.  RealAir Scout - very nice bush plane.  Love their Duke much more.

3.  FlightBeam KIAD - I'm not much of an airport buyer but I do love it.

4.  Aerosoft Cities X New Orleans - it's okay.  Their Los Angeles seems much better.

5.  Megascenery Florida and Georgia.  Good above 5000' but I don't load them much since I like to fly short GA hops and hate landing on flatness.

Thinking about getting FTX Global but, so far at least, their other products haven't excited me much.  Also, have several aircraft in my queue (mostly Milviz) once their out and have LINDA support.

FTXG isn't a scenery layer. It's base textures just like GEX was/is. The Orbx landclass in the scenery library is just that; landclass telling FSX where to place certain textures. There is no FTXG landclass for North America yet; only the Baltic demo/preview and I think maybe some SE Asia. It doesn't matter where in the scenery library MSE is, you will not get any autogen from FTXG or see any FTXG textures. I leave all my photoscenery at the very bottom above the Microsoft default stuff. It doesn't need to be anywhere else.

Bingo!!  That's what I figured.  So there's absolutely no reason to have the FTX Global at the top.  Thanks

Not in any order and may not be accurate at all but

1) CS 707--gotta love those sounds, and it looks good. Haven't learned much about it yet

2) Milviz 737-- It's part of my old jet trifecta, with the 707, the DC-9, and now this. Haven't time to do much in it.

3)Twotter Extended--Oh man it looks good. I've used it for maybe 30 hours. A blast to fly and operate in.

4)Carenado CT206H--I really like it, it was my interim Cessna until the A2A 172 comes out. I would recommend it if you need a GA bush plane.

5)A2A 377 StratoCruiser. This is one of the best purchases I've ever made, flying this plane is unlike any other thing I've flown. 10/10 I love it.

Another FS Niner here.

I don't purchase add-ons very much, but the last five were:

1) easyFMC - wanted a 'plain Jane' FMS that I could use in a couple of GA airplanes for inputting Waypoints and such...

2) Carenado PA-32 Saratoga SP - Always liked the workhorse Cherokee Six family, and it was on Sale!

3) Carenado Cessna 337 Skymaster - Another Sale item... BAT*21, anybody?

4) Bellanca Viking/ Super Viking - Wow, what a fun airplane to fly!

5) VFR and IFR Aviation Topographic Atlas - Yes, they may expire... but more than enough for FlightSim, and a good reference should the EFB go South.

Fwiw here are my most "recent" purchases

1) Majestic Q400 - Amazing in every respect.

2) UK2000 Gatwick/Heathrow/Glasgow - Must buy if you fly to the UK often.

3) PMDG J41 - Outstanding graphics an the looks of it drew me.

4) Aerosoft Airbus X Extended - Shelved, tried it, don't like it. It's not the product, just turns out I don't really like the way Airbii work. Otherwise, Aerosoft did a nice job.

5) PMDG MD-11 - To date my favorite airplane.

Ftx global: really enjoy it. Looking for the dx10 fix.

Flightbeam KIAD: would buy again

Fsdt KJFK v2: would buy again

Fsdt CYVR: never had a issue. Would buy again

Majestic Dash 8: would buy again

Saitek panels (multi, radio and the other panel) big mistake. Should have done more research

Vr insight Boeing mcp ii: very pricey. Does enhance the feeling of "being there" a bit. I'd say check the bargain bin or eBay. Too expensive.

1. Captain Sim 707 - only 12 bucks on sale. Haven't flown it much yet.

2. Maddog 2010 - was also on sale. Nice addon. Don't mind the somewhat dated graphics. Still learning to fly it properly.

3. Flight 1 Super King Air - Awesome addon. Would definitely buy again.

4. FTX Global - Must have. One of best addons I've purchased.

5. FlyTampa Dubai Rebooted - Spectacular. Must have addon.

FSX: PMDG 744/MD11/JS41/736/737/738/739, CS752/753/763/C130, SimCheck A300, Leonardo MD82, MJC DH8D, Aerosoft CRJ7/CRJ9/A318/A319/A320/A321, RAZBAM Metroliner, ORBX Global, FlyTampa KBUF/OMDB/TNCM/VHHX, ActiveSky Next

XP11: FF 752/753, iniBuilds A306, HotStart TBM900

MSFS: Fenix A320, FS2Crew Fenix A320, FS2Crew Pushback Express, PMDG B77W, ActiveSky FS, Drzewiecki Design UUEE

The last 5 add ons I have purchased are as follows.

1 Just Flight Tri star L1011 . Bought in the last few days for just £5 or $8. Liked the look of this plane as does not look too difficult to fly and for the price I could not say no

2 CS 727, picked this up in the recent Sale, not installed yet, If only I had more time to fly.

3 Uk2000 London Luton Airport. I love the detail on this and its pretty good with frames, the best UK2000 airport I have purchased so far.

4 Ultimate Traffic 2 and My Traffic 5.4b. After reading all the reviews on these two products for my AI, I still could not make up my mind so I bought them both.

5 UK2000 Gatwick Airport , my first purchase for FSX and also my local airport, not quite as kind on frames as the more recent Luton one and have a few issues with flashing light posts but still pretty good.

I've been trying to be a bit more restrictive with all my purchases lately, but here goes:

With the latest one at no 1:

1. PFPX (actually Navigraph credits should be in second place since the navdata that PFPX included was messed up for me)

2. FTX Global

3. FS Global Real Weather

4. Majestic Dash 8

5. FSDreamteam KJFK v.2

For me (FS9 simmer here):

FSGenesis NEXTMap Spain - I needed a good mesh for Spain from a reliable source. And it was at a good price!

Carenado C90B - Bought the FS9 version on release day. It's tough on my system, but flyable and smooth. I just have to settle for 15-20 FPS instead of my more typical 35-50 FPS.

FSGenesis NEXTMap Germany - Another mesh. I am a fiend for geographic accuracy. I'm a geology student and I also love geography as well - I like maps.

Carenado Baron - Bought the FS9 version on release day. Also tough on my system, but I like it.

Carenado C337 - Bought this on release day, too! That was way back in January - I don't spend a lot on addons these days, you see! This one is a gem - easy on FPS and darn near perfect for me.

Although there are MANY FS9 addons I want, I don't buy very many these days. What I have meets my needs flying. I run a very VFR-oriented sim with high-res mesh, good ground textures, and Ultimate Terrain. I've also got the two Flightzone sceneries and everything Holger Sandmann ever published for FS9, pay or free.

Lately, I've been getting my best sceneries from FSX - it's not difficult to convert most sceneries for FS9 to some useable level, although some features are lost.

Glad to see another geologist around here! :-)

Here's my list:

1. Aerosoft Twin Otter Extended

2. FS Global Real Weather

3. FTX Global

4. FTX Wales

5. FTX Schotland

Andreas Paul

From newest to oldest:

PFPX - Not really used it, not really sure why i bought it.  I was very happy with FSC

Twotter - Not used it yet

Aerosoft 320 - Had some small issues, nothing serious, all resolved and very happy.

Majestic Q400 - Great purchase

Dubai Airport - Really for the 777, aside from testing haven't used it in 'anger'.

Waiting for the 777 and either the realair 172 or A2A 172, i'm not getting both, so first to release gets my money.  That should be it this year.

On another topic who is pleased Rome 2 Total war is released this week...
