The DX10 Controller allows you with one click to change from DX10 back to DX9. Quick and easy.

All the configuration is done automatically. However you can adjust some settings in the Controller, if you want to. But in most cases it isn't required. You'd be done within a minute. Unless you want to read the very comprehensive manual, which explains exactly what the Fixer is doing, and why. 

 

That's cool.  If I backup my fsx.cfg (for my own sanity), is that sufficient?  I don't want to lose what I've worked so hard to get right.

You have to remember that if you still do not have cockpit shadow (PMDG for example) or other problems it's because the developers did not implement it or did not make their add on 100% fully compatible with DX10.

 

This tool will fix some problems caused by FSX unfinished DX10 mode but can't fix what's not there from developers add on.

 

That is why it is important to buy 100% DX10 compatible add on with all the bells and whistles from now on, it will be more work for the developer(s) but heck if that's the only thing we buy they will make it DX10 compatible, always better to ask a developer if their upcoming add on will be DX10 compatible when in the making, before released, like that they will know what you(we) want and they won't have any excuses not to make it DX10 compatible.

 

Now, for peoples complaining about the price...$32.00 cover the whole FSX's world, add smoothness, you'r able to push your slider further to the right without loosing in perf., better visual, no more OOM, should I go on.....and some of the same peoples did not sweat $99.00 for FTXG?

As far as I can tell, that would be sufficient. I haven't had time for long-term tests, yet. But it seems that switching back to DX9 worked without a hitch, and everything was the way it was supposed to be.

Geez...I am going to have to bail out of work early for this....arghhh

For all the folks that are scared about losing thier dx9 settings, all you have to do is rename the fsx.cfg file then start with a fresh one for dx10. Then when you want to go back to dx9 just name the dx10 version and vice versa. I have 2 fsx.cfg files. One for dx9 and one for dx10

To me this would only be worth it if this utility simply allowed you to check the DX10 preview and everything including all addons just worked, I have spent countless hours getting all my addons to work well together and seamlessly. I just spent $90 on the T7 and for it not to work with that is a deal breaker. I feel like trying to climb the DX10 hill at this stage would be a fruitless for me. Congrats on the release and for those DX10ers out there I'm happy for you all, but not the product for me.

Well, this sucks.  Installed, configured...FSX no longer starts.  Nothing in the event log other than a message that says "The Desktop Window Manager was unable to start because composition was disabled by a running application."  All I get is the splash screen.  Rebooted, no change.

did you delete the old fsx.cfg file. If you didnt then do it and let fsx build a new one then run the fixer. I find that some of the shader files may conflict with some of the tweaks from the dx9 cfg file. I only have highmemfix and disablepreload tweak running. No bufferpools or anything else

Who says the T7 doesnt work? I'm flying it right now and it works perfectly

I spent hours last night flying around LAX at night with FTX Global and the UTX vector light fix to the terrain.cfg . It looked simply amazing! I finally feel like I have a complete sim. Thank you again Steve, Paul and all the beta testers!!! 

 

One thing I forgot to check was the water shimming with the land reflections during the daytime. Has this been fixed or improved when you move up the water slider to High?

I get this as well for about half a second when switching from outside to VC.  Going the otherway, VC -> Spot I can see the inside of the cabin with all the rows of seats for half a second before the aircraft displays properly.
