September 20, 201312 yr Ah, ok BAdfinger... September 20, 201312 yr Last night I did quick test flights at night at FlyTampas, KBOS, OMDB, KBUF, KMDW, CYUL, VHHX and KTPA all with great results. Two things to note are the PAPI issue at OMDB still remains (but can be disable as mentioned earlier in this thread) and you can now use the HD runway textures at VHHX day or night now. Also the lights at all of these airports are very small and dim until you are on the ground compared to other payware addons. This is something I prolly can adjust but need to do a real test flight to see them in action better as I was just looking to see about the grey ground issue. At CYUL you still need your landing lights on to keep the ground traffic on. KSFF by Orbx is night ready now. However, the black tile shadow squares at PAJN are not nor did it fix the black tile squares for some of the boats in FT VHHX. As I read though Steve may be able to fix them individually. All in all this is a huge improvement for anyone who uses FlyTampa stuff in DX10 at night and well worth the money there. Not to mention, I have no issue with paying Steve in general who has transformed FSX for me with all the great things he did for us already. i9-13900K O/C | ASUS ROG Maximus Z790 Hero | 32GB DDR5 6000MHz Kingston FURY | RTX 4090 24GB | 2x SSD M.2 (2TB Samsung 990 PRO) 1x SSD (4TB Samsung 870 EVO) | Windows 11 Home | H20: HydroLux PRO:HardLine Tubing| 1000w PSU | Starlink WiFi
September 20, 201312 yr hello i just purchased it and what i can say is WOOW . a completely different sim . but i have a question please in nvidia inspector i have my AA set to 2x sparse grid supersampling . and my fsx setting set to trilinear without AA as recommended by everyone but when i open the dx10 controller it gives me an option to pick which type of dx10 AA should i leave it as NO AA and let nvidia inspector do the job or what ? Regards Faisal Altheyab
September 20, 201312 yr Man, I can't wait for the mass hype to wear down and the complaints start pouring in...Will check tomorrow to see how the tide has changed. Still on the fence as I'm not a big 3PD Airport guy and it seems there is a lot of focus on that.
September 20, 201312 yr How does SweetFX work with this fix? Still thinks SweetFX is a must for nighttime flying... September 20, 201312 yr Paul maybe you could post your in fsx AA settings - NI settings and DX10 Fixer AA - getting skeleton aircraft and vc loading very slow in the T777, also noticed kbos was working and then all of a sudden shaders went wild everything looked like slick water drenched shiny textures - weird I get this as well for about half a second when switching from outside to VC. Going the otherway, VC -> Spot I can see the inside of the cabin with all the rows of seats for half a second before the aircraft displays properly. Mark CYYZ
September 20, 201312 yr Hi guys, Would someone mind uploading some high res cockpit shots showing the VC shadows? What I've seen from the jet cockpit images on Steve's site looks very impressive, but I'm not sure if that was just a WIP (+ the images are fairly low res). Thanks in advance.
September 20, 201312 yr Just downloaded and flying. MUCH smoother so far but must finish the flight and read the manual!!!! The manual is well written but really ... Should be 1 page long. Step 1 - Install Step 2 - Enable Effects if you did not during the install Step 3 - Select 4xAA or 8xAA Step 4 - Forget you installed it and fly Well. I suppose the manual can explain how to troubleshoot a specific issue should you actually run into one. As beta tests revealed an issue and an email went to Steve, I hardly made it home from work the next day and it was fixed. He knows his stuff! Heck Phil Taylor even thanked him for finishing the work on Steve's own blog! Charles.
September 20, 201312 yr I can see the inside of the cabin with all the rows of seats for half a second before the aircraft displays properly I have that since I installed the 777, and I am in DX9.... September 20, 201312 yr I have to admit that I'm tempted to try this but, after many many months, I finally got my DX9 setup working well. If it's easy to 'back out' I'd be willing to buy it and give it a try...if I know what to back up beforehand. I have two FlightBeam airports and a bunch of FlyTampa airports and FTX Global. Can I revert back to DX9 easily? Will I be configuring things for hours? I guess this will bust ENB and SweetFX, though, which I use to combat the eternal cloudy day. :( Gregg Seipp "A good landing is when you can walk away from the airplane. September 20, 201312 yr Guys, $32.00 for flying with all the advantage of DX10 is a steal if you ask me, not saying that everybody is on the same level money wise but $32.00 cover the entire FSX world, you'll be able to push more of all your sliders to the right... Edit: Now, if the vast majority of Avsim's simmers switch to DX10 you all make sure that your next add on purchase is 100% FSX DX10 compatible guaranty by the developers, no compromise, they can and should make their planes or sceneries 100% DX10 compatible for us if that's the only thing we are welling to buy. OMG I'm agreeing with Alain on something?! There's going to be a rip in the space time continuum!!!! Aaaahhhh! But seriously. Well said. Charles. Is this a set it and forget it type utility, or does it run in conjunction with FSX? If so, is it an internal DLL, or an external executable? Set and Forget. Nothing "runs" in the background. It applies fixes to the shaders and you're off to the wild blue! C.
September 20, 201312 yr Will do. I just finished setting up NI to get Vsync and AA. I just have to install the DX10 fixer now. Just a question about AA. I have it set to 'use application setting' but in the 'how to' doc it asks you to insert two lines.... [Graphics] MultiSamplesPerPixel=4 MultiSampleQuality=8 In NI, I have... 'antialiasing -mode = application controlled' 'antialiasing -setting = application controlled' In DX9, I normally use 8xMS through NI. Now in DX10, I've inserted the two lines but not sure what I should use for the numbers. So far I've left them as they are. I don't use Super Sampling. How can I get plain old 8xMS in DX10? I am getting AA now but I have no idea what type of AA is being used. The tool switches between 2, 4 to 8xMSAA for you. No longer need to manually add those two lines. Of course, while in DX110 mode, you have to have AA enabled in game. The default AA in FSX (as set by the tool) is indeed MS (MultiSample). If you do NOT enable supersampling, Steve's tool has another feature... No AA applied to cloud textures so another bump in performance in thick clouds. But I need to have SS enabled personally and really still no big hit anyway. If I had an nVidia card still I would be enabling Transparency AA and setting to at least 2xSGSS. Charles.
September 20, 201312 yr Does the DX10 Fixer set AF, or do I still need to set this manually through Nvidia Inspector to 16x? September 20, 201312 yr Can I revert back to DX9 easily? Will I be configuring things for hours? The DX10 Controller allows you with one click to change from DX10 back to DX9. Quick and easy. All the configuration is done automatically. However you can adjust some settings in the Controller, if you want to. But in most cases it isn't required. You'd be done within a minute. Unless you want to read the very comprehensive manual, which explains exactly what the Fixer is doing, and why. Regards, Patrick Krolzik
