Ok, did that...still fails.  I also deleted my FSX.CFG one more time and disabled most of the addons. 

Had the same thing up until a few weeks ago. If you had installed  SMAA mod a while back, check if you have a DXGI.dll and any other file it installed, and rename them. I pulled my hair out for months trying to find why I couldn't run in DX10. No error just exit at startup, like you!!

Quick question and apologies in advance, does this product work with PMDG 777 i seen references to some shadowing issues inside VC and screenshot that shows textures going haywire, so just to clarify does this product work or not with 777? if does work is there some additional steps for disabling VC shadowing or works out of the box?

My thoughts...

 

Initially I was somewhat surprised at the price. I expected it would be cheaper. I certainly think some of the wilder speculation that this would sell in the hundreds of thousands or that this would lead to some kind of DX10 renaissance for FSX has definitely been squashed.

 

Next, I think a few people have been getting a bit carried away with themselves and have maybe raised expectations a little too high. This will not transform your FSX into a shiny new next generation platform. It will allow FSX to make marginally better use of a modern graphics card. Don't expect miracles.

 

My advice:

 

If you are running DX9 and are happy with your performance, then save yourself the money for something else. You will be disappointed with this.

 

If you aren't entirely happy with your DX9, try out the free DX10 fixes available in the sticky posts in this forum. If you find DX10 with the fixes gives you the improvements you are looking for then consider buying the full programme as this way you'll get all the functionality wrapped up in a easy to use front-end (no manually dragging and dropping files around your FSX folder), and Steve gets some remuneration for the work he's done.

Hmm, I'm still trying to get it to work properly after two hours. I can't get the water to look anything other than bright blue, I've lost my Vsync and the AA, even set at 32 looks like tosh!

It's the AF that is proving difficult on my PC. Textures in the distance (land and water) "shimmer" a lot more than they do in DX9 mode, and that's at 16x. I need to know how to solve that issue.

I have exactly the same Chris. in fact, and I don't wish to sound like a grumpy old man, but I was thinking after parting with my hard earned cash that I'd at least get past the initial start up! My AA sucks even set at 32, I seem unable to correct the bright blue water and I no longer have any Vsync... oops, already mentioned that above...

Well, Aerosoft LSZH still has problems with 3D lighting.

Yes. All black, regardless of day or night.

Strange, I've lost V sync too. I've just checked FTX EGFF where there were grass issues and I still have the same problem.  

I presume Steve's fixer installs the new shaders too?

 

I'm sure we will get there and much of the fixer is showing great promise.

Not in the PMDG T7 as they did not implement shadows in the VC model.  If there is a default T7 (sorry I forget) then yes.

I have my AA at 8S and I use SGSS at 8x to remove the shimmers.

 

For me, it has been well worth the cost. Numerous 3rd party sceneries now work day and night.
