DX10 Fixer released!

Featured Replies

dx9 requires that video memory be mirrored in VAS.  DX10 doesn't, so any video memory usage you have is no longer eating up your available VAS space.  you can still have an OOM, and you should still take the standard OOM precautions, but you will have them FAR less than in dx9.  I've had maybe 2 or 3 since switching to DX10 a few months ago, out of about 150-200 flights

Rather than start a new thread, can I add my praise for this absolutely amazing add on.

It truly has been a seismic few weeks for our hobby, crowned by this absolute miracle software that finally allows us to see the ACES team's true vision for FSX.

While it may not be a totally perfect solution, it's near enough to being so to largely consign DX9 FSX to the history books.

A remarkable technical achievement Steve. Thanks so much - I'd always hoped the day would dawn when the promise of the DX10 demo could be realized. Just the immersion derived from proper shading in the virtual cockpit is worth much, much more than the asking price, to say nothing of the clearly better performance.

There's never been a better time to be in this hobby. Just when you think you've seen it all, in terms of software innovation, something else arrives to change that perception.

An unforgettable year for flight simulation.

Great post! I just experienced the same feeling with the FREE updates. You can add me to the list of converted customers. Amazing performance boost and nicer visuals with DX10.

Bought my copy on Saturday. All my old (previously grey) addon aircraft now look lovely despite uninstalling addon x converter. FPS is smooth even in my bigger jets like the QW/JF 146 and Q400.

Nice one Steve!

EDIT:

Please any of you still using DX9 and having problems give DX10 a go. It totally changed FSX for me. No more system crashes, blue screens etc. Better FPS but more importantly it's SMOOTH even when FPS is down to 10-15fps over complex scenery.

I was skeptical because I had NOT tried the free updates. You can have better visuals, smoother flight, and light bloom on. I hope airport developers are reading this. Go DX10!

I bought it and love it! I can now say with confidence that the "value" exceeds the price.

Im not sure why everybody complains about OOM's. The only time I have really encountered this, was flying around Orbxlands...then switched to LaGuardia and attempting to fly over the ridiculous D Design New York. I have almost never experienced an OOM without trying.

Where are comparison screenshots that SHOW what the DX10 Fixer can do, I for one would be more interested then.

Yeah, more examples of the before glitches and after fixes would really help sell this more.

I've already bought it, but I do agree this would be a powerful sales tool for Steve.

So I'm seeing brilliant results in almost all cases ......... almost all complex aircraft and sceneries are performing better in DX10 using the fixer but there is one exception for me;

The PMDG 737 NGX.     In the beloved NGX I see a definite FPS drop when using DX10 Fixer, of around 5 FPS... (which is enough to make quite a difference in the NGX).

Just wondering if anyone else has seen this in the NGX ?

As I said everyhing else (including the PMDG T7) shows a marked improvement in FPS and smoothness, with DX10, but the NGX won't play ball.

The only issue I've seen, and probably because it's a very old airport, is Cloud 9 Bergen, which has white buildings. Anyone know a cure?

Guys, how to properly switch to DX9 from DX10 in DX Controller?

For me I deselect all Shader Status boxes, Switch to DX9 and uninstall the Libraries. Not sure if all these steps are needed.

Thanks,

Dirk.

Here's a thought: I do not have the PMDG, but one possibility is their engine smoke effect is the culprit. I had serious a FPS hit with the MV 732 due to the way they are calling their engine smoke effect. Particularly awful with spot view during takeoff, but impacting me even in the VC (I have no idea why). Two workaround options for me - convert only Simple Lights and Effects with the fixer, or rename the smoke effect used by the MDL so it could no longer be used. (I chose the latter for now.) I believe this is linked to my GPU choking on particulate nature of the effect (similar to clouds performance) with SGSS enabled. Anyway, something to look at.

Does FlightBeam's PHX/IAD work with Steve's Fix; day and night?

Only have the KIAD - looks great dawn, day, dusk, night. You will not be disappointed with this addon!

Thanks - I'll definitely take a look at this too.
