October 18, 201312 yr Never....but I did fire up the 172 to confirm that the flight model with the A2A version is broken. By that I mean I inverted the aircraft and tried to do an inverted loop, the default can't do it unlike the A2A version which flies like an rc plane when you explore the edge of the flight envelope. I also used the default 172 to confirm FTX global night lighting has completely ruined my night flying experience in low vis, ie the lights are always visible so now pitch black night approaches are not possible. It was actually fun flying it for a bit, I guess since it's free you enjoy it more than some dodgy payware releases. The vc click spots worked the whole flight too! Unlike my last 2 payware aircraft I bought which are in the hanger all the time due to this frustration. I guess I could bring these topics up on their forums but we all know what happens when you critisice Orbx, my thread on that forum was ignored for ages by them until someone else pipped up with the same complaint, but now we are off topic. -Iain Watson-
October 18, 201312 yr I never do. I am a pilot over at Southwest Virtual and only fly the PMDG NGX. I do not fly any other plane on my sim except the NGX for Southwest Airlines. Southwest Airlines grab your bag, it's on! Daniel Wasinski, SWA5594, Senior Captain, Southwest Virtual Airlines "Without a heart, it's just a machine."
October 18, 201312 yr I fly the default DC-3 probably 80% of my Air Hauler flights. I don't mind the default Cessna 172 either. Otherwise I'm low and slow in the A2A Cub.
October 18, 201312 yr I have the default Cessna cold and dark on the ground at KFHR as my saved default flight. I always use the same Cessna for slewing around newly purchased scenery. But apart from that I almost exclusively fly payware aircraft. Sent from my GT-I9505 using Tapatalk 4 Jason Carruthers
October 18, 201312 yr I think the stock Maule is one of the best VFR airplanes in the sim, free or payware agreed. You can also fly IFR with it pretty well. My MSFS 2020 repaints: Flightsim.to - Profile of HStreet Working on MSFS 2024 versions.
October 18, 201312 yr I never fly default planes. Christopher Low AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU / 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM / 12GB Nvidia RTX 4070 Super GPU / Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite Wifi 7 / 1+2TB Samsung Evo Plus M2 Nvme UK2000 Beta Tester
October 18, 201312 yr For me (as others obviously), I only use the default planes very sporadic. All bigger jets I did not touch a single time so far, from time to time I fly with the Goose or the F/A-18 for some sightseeing. Very rarely I also do a tour above a new airport using the default Bell for sightseeing. Besides that, only addon planes. October 18, 201312 yr Never. The only time I will load up a default plane is when I am working on Benchmarking since they load instantly where as my NGX you have to sit there and wait for all the bells and whistles to setup in it's countdown. I just know by experience now, that whatever score I get in benchmarking with default plane, I can get it in half when I boot up NGX (which STILL just doesn't sit right with me. That is SUCH a huge hit for A PLANE). October 18, 201312 yr Since the PMDG 737 NGX i haven't flown the default 737 anymore. A while back I decided to give it a try again, just for fun. After 5 minutes I canceled the flight, and promissed myself not to do that ever again!!! greetings, Ton. Ton van Dongen
October 18, 201312 yr Not too often. But I would fly at least one if MS had not in its 'wisdom' decided not to include the Ford Trimotor in FSX. Dinosaurs like me will remember it was a default aircraft in FS2004. I don't know how well the pic will render the exquisite aluminium detailing on the fuselage and wings, not to mention the polished aluminium on those radials. Some more of VC and 2d cockpit. Sadly, these pics do not reveal the lovely detailing of the gauges and the FSX quality crispness of the fonts. http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL84/1407476/24038894/407823551.jpg http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL84/1407476/24038894/407823684.jpg http://pic20.picturetrail.com/VOL84/1407476/24038894/407823688.jpg All this for the price of the simulation! I've lots of addon GA and heavy-ish metal but I prefer this little bird to any of them! John John
October 18, 201312 yr Not quite sure why the OP's question is default vs payware. What about freeware? Much of it is great fun and high quality if you can be bothered to find it. I think the 'Payware only' snobs are missing out on a lot of stuff. Default? I enjoy the Maule, sometimes the 737, and the FS9 ported Trimotor and Jenny. Intel I7-4770 3.4Ghz 16 Gb RAM nVidia GTX770 2Gb Windows 8.1 64 bit P3D 4.4/3.4 FSX SE
October 18, 201312 yr Sometimes. The rest of the time is exclusively spent in freeware aircraft. This. Default? Hardly ever. Payware? None. Freeware? Loads - Project Airbus A318/319/320/321, Project Opensky 747s, Thomas Ruth's A330/340... I get little time to play FSX so can't/don't want to spend 45 minutes programming the FMC as that 45 minutes may be all the time I get to play for a couple of days.
October 18, 201312 yr I actually do about 20% of my flights in the defaults. There are times when I don't want to mess with flightplanning, checklists, procedures, etc... I just want to hop in an airplane and fly! The defaults are perfect for that. They aren't always pretty and many of the knobs and switches don't work; but unlike previous versions of FS, most FSX defaults handle pretty well in the air.
October 18, 201312 yr Ill fly the good ones. Goose with the HD mod,Lear 45,Caravan and , the glider . But Id say I fly payware 99.23218139% ATP MEL,CFI,CFII,MEI. Type Ratings B-737, ERJ-190,ERJ-170
