November 17, 201312 yr I don't see the benefit of switching to P3D V2 just yet. Sure, volumetric fog and a new lighting system are nice to have. But at the end it's still eye candy. I would love to see features that would raise the simulation to a higher level. Like improved aerodynamics, a new weather system with cloud formations and weather fronts, a better ATC, a deeper simulation of some of the aircraft core systems etc.And in that regard I consider Active Sky Next to be the bigger game-changer than P3D V2.GreetingsTim Greetings Tim My files on Flightsim.to i5 12600K | 32Gb | RTX 4080

November 17, 201312 yr Seeya guys .... enjoy what you have now. FSX will be around for a lot longer ... but my money is on the new investor that appears to be commited to a continued and enhanced platform. And haven't Microsoft disbanded two platforms now? Sent from my GT-N7100 using Tapatalk
November 17, 201312 yr Well I've got my Paypal primed for the Just Flight Canberra PR9 which should be along fairly soon. I'm also thinking about buying some more MSE2 states... I'll almost certainly pick up P3Dv2 when it's released, but I won't be jumping in with both feet just yet. I think the community hype machine has gone into overdrive with P3Dv2 - so desperate are we for something to pin our hopes on. Bringing a DX11 graphics engine is great, but it's still the same old 32bit FSX with the same old weather engine, flight dynamics, ATC and all the other same old inherent limitations. Whilst I will welcome P3Dv2 with open arms and applaud what LM are doing with the new sim I'm not expecting the "next gen" FSX that I get the distinct impression some are building it up to be in their own minds. I'm bracing myself for the inevitable backlash when it's becomes apparent that P3Dv2 isn't the Second Coming and the flame wars between the newly converted P3Dv2 zealots and those who built their hopes too high and are disappointed. November 17, 201312 yr +1 Stagnation in the base platform has gone on far too long. Those developers that choose not too support P3D and the future are only doing it for business reasons, they clearly see big profits in their next venture. Good luck to them. I don't need them any more than they need me. I will only support those developers that support both FSX/P3D.
November 17, 201312 yr I get everything so I will certainly try it. I can completely understand the pmdg guys not wanting to try it when it's not supported as for a lot of people the it's not fsx that they get the fun from, fsx is just the container, the plane is the challenge. At the same time it's an unfortunate case of tail wagging the dog because if we all had the same feeling then we would never progress.
November 17, 201312 yr I will be getting P3D 2.0 to try it out and see how it performs FPS wise. If it is a big enough improvement I will stop supporting non-P3D compatible addons, but if it's just FSX with a little more eye candy, it's back to FSX!
November 18, 201312 yr Unfortunately I'm not sure if the CTD/OOM thing will be fixed with p3d. Well, now that you mention it, Ryan... I have found that flying from one Orbx airport (say Cushman) to another (say Fall City, just a short hop away) really stresses the OOM boundaries on P3D 1.4, and I get the dreaded "circle of death" cursor with sound, but all locked up otherwise until it crashes. Just like FSX. Like father, like son. I hope the boys at LM have really cleaned up the bad memory management code in ESP... November 18, 201312 yr same for me... if it stops ooms Ill buy it, and if activesky sort out the windshifts Ill also think about it. otherwise im not too fused
November 18, 201312 yr . . . . . . . See any hands? I echo a lot of the comments, no PMDG no chance. Mike Keigley
November 18, 201312 yr I have the same feeling, I will see how it performs after release... I would love to put FSX behind me so if P3D is what is next then I am all in. I wish someone would step up and give us what we want, or is that what we need.... Lol... I have X-plane but there is just something about it that I don't like. I do like the curved runways and lighting but that is it... :( who knows maybe a year or two down the road... Keeping my fingers crossed someone is developing our next platform and they are still hiding behind the developer curtain... 5Take Care, Will Clark My computer: Intel 14900K, Motherboard ROR Maximus Z790 Formula, PSU Dark Power 1600, Ram DDR5 (7200) Vengeance 32GB CL38, ASUS 4090, Keyboard Logitech ASUS, Mouse ROCCAT LEADR Wireless, Corsair M.2 SSD 4TB x2, Headset Astro A50 Wireless, Microphone Elgato Wave 3, Stream Deck Elgato XL, GoXLR, Loopdeck Live, Chair Steelcase Gesture with Headrest, Case: Lian Li O11 Dynamic XL ROG White, Custom Built water cooling, Ek Lian li xl distro plate, Fittings EK & Bitspower, Monitor LG C1 48 OLED, Desk Speakers Audio Engine A5+ White.
