Mine's slow as well. You can download it as a single 10 gb file or as smaller files of around 1 gb.



I'm downloading it as I speak and it's coming down at a "blazingly fast" 500 to 600 kbs/sec, which is actually much faster than my line normally downloads stuff.



I strongly suggest getting a download manager. There's nothing like downloading 99% of a large file and having it fail at the last moment.

Yes, I used the installer again and just pointed it to P3D. Seemed to work fine.

I have to say since I've been up since 6am, bought FTX global just for P3D, how disappointed I am.

After 3 hours of just changing setting etc I would mark it 2 out of 10 that's how disappointed I am.

I run a 940 cpu @4 and a gtx660

I have had 6 OOM, goto outside top down OOM every time, had 3 inside VC. FSX 3 in 4 years.

 

The think the AA etc is poor I have turned of all shadows apart from VC and there no better than DX10 preview.

Water in fsx I have set to med like most and it look fine in P3D you have to so very high for it to look anything like.

FPS 15-26.

Have I anything good to say? The LOD is very good no real popping, that's about it.

 

What I hate, yes hate.

The full screen does not let me use pop ups to drag them to another screen. Its FSX in full window mode.

No free flight you go straight into a flight and have to set up from there.

The list goes on.

Out of the box I was hope for, and all I was hoping for was 30fps locked, lol no chance and that's with a standard aircraft and really standard scenery. Global is nice don't take that the wrong way.

I was so looking forward to this.

Mine is a pretty low-end system, it's a Windows 8 (downgraded to 7) laptop with 4GB of RAM, an i5 4 cores, and an nvidia intergrated card with 2GB. Hence, I wasn't expecting there to be much improvement, and there isn't. If anything it runs worse than FSX. e.g. I use drzewiecki design's Polish airports, and sitting at EPPO in FSX I get between 20-25 fps with cloudy weather. In P3D, with low-end settings and the same weather, I get 15fps. It's still usable, but a noticable drop in performance for me. I also run X-Plane on the same system, and it really outperforms P3D here when using HDR and shadows.

I suspect that your integrated nvidia may be a factor for the drop in performance that you see.

 

In my system ([email protected], 4GB RAM, GTX 560Ti 1GB), after much tweaking (BP=0, FFTF=0.12), I managed to get FSX running at smooth 30fps average. I wonder how P3Dv2 will perform..

Oh dear, was thinking if giving p3d a shot but if there's a permanent watermark that's me out. That's exactly the kind of thing that I always know is there an breaks the immersion for me.

Initial impressions for me are "ho-hum". Cranking up the shadows absolutely kills performance, so I'm having to tune well back to get anywhere near the performance I got in FSX. This was to be expected though.

 

It's basically just FSX, but again not sure what I was expecting because it's pretty well documented that the only improved the graphics core. More playing round is required for me to see the new autogen system, etc..

 

Good news is that most of my plugins still work, e.g. the A2A C172, Carenado and it works much better on Windows 7.

Has anyone installed FSUIPC? I have it installed, Version f, and its in the addon's menu but when clicking on it the FSUIPC screen doesn't open.

Reality is always my litmus test-this one is a fail...

 

Why would you post that in a sim forum?  No inexpensive sim (at this time) will give you the real-life experience of actually flying.

Ok I see it now - That is no biggy or deal breaker....heck it was hard to find.

 

I wonder on three screens if I would even notice it being so far over to the right.

FWIW, it looks like the VC mouse cursor bug (i.e fps degradation) and the VC head movement bug are both still there.

 

Older FS9 AI models work, but do not cast shadows.
