The P3D v2.2 'Disney Land' magic bullet...found it!

Maddening.  It's the only thing keeping me from LOVING the sim.  Plenty of horsepower to drive the eye candy...just want so badly to have fluidity!

Same here, stutters is the only remaining enemy. Adaptive VSync helps, makes it playable. But does not bring the butter I've seen before. The hunt continues

If P3D is targeting performance in their next release, which they say they are, then they see the problem too.  I think patience may be the best tool.  Doesn't hurt to keep trying things in the mean time, though.

My Power Target slider maxes out at 106%.  My guess is that's because my 780 is a SC card (it is factory overclocked at 967MHz core/1020MHz boost).

I also have to re-enable the Frame Rate Target every time I restart my PC (and I have Precision X set to start up with WIndows).

I have a 780ti SC and it only goes to 106% as well, but I believe that is just a turbo boost technology where it will boost the power when needed. There is a section in EVGA Precision X that allows you to adjust voltages which I haven't played around with yet.

Hey Mitch, START UP is blue on my EVGA Precision UI (I'm usinig the default UI skin) and  I have Start with WIndows checked (in the General tab).  I also have have Start Minimized checked.  And I did use the Apply button, and I keep the software minimized (I don't x-out of the UI).  Precision starts up with Windows, but the Frame Rate Target is ALWAYS unckecked after my PC restarts.

maybe you should use the profile. Save your settings in the profile number and you can recall these settings whenever you want.

I had an idea.  Would it work to copy the prepar3d.exe file, renamed something like prepar3dcfg1.exe, prepar3dcfg2.exe, and then have a different entry in programs like rivatuner and NI for experimenting?  I'm sorry I don't have so much time to try these things.

I'm seeing an amazing 60+ framerate with FSEarthTiles scenery along the I90/94 corridor in western Wisconsin.  This is AT 5760x1080!!!  I have Ultimate Terrain X installed, and I think that contributes to dragging things down in urban areas. Active Sky Next in bad weather doesn't really seem to bog things down as much as UTX in clear.

How does UTX compare with the Orbx offering, the vector stuff right?  I am really looking for accurate lights at night, they show over photoscenery.

I'm also wondering if there is instructions anywhere to move FSX default planes to P3D.

I am loving this simulator.

I've figured out how to make videos at this resolution, and I'll post some if/when I get time.  Sorry again (4mo firstborn son being very unreasonable!)

Thanks for explaining that . . . although I'm mostly happy with the way P3D is running, so I'm not going to mess with it (especially since doing so could damage my GPU).

I did a Google search on this issue and the consensus was to install Reva Tuner. So I did that last night and this morning my Precision X's Frame Rate Target was enabled at start up.  So all is good (now if it would just stop raining here for a few days).

RivaTuner is what other programs like PrecisionX and MSI Afterburner use to access the chip.  It has the Programming Interface for the functions on the chip, made by some Guru that's been doing it for the better part of 2 decades now.  I don't know if RivaTuner is what is used for PrecisionX's "Frame Rate Target", EVGA may have their own thing going on there.  RivaTuner is mostly used for GPU info display, and it's where you'd go to move the display to a different location, but the other GPU functions are accessed somewhere in it too.

Hi,

this RivaTuner is also what I have but I thought it's a part which came together with the EVGA Precision X. It's also active in the background like the EVGA.

Anyway, happy to hear that it works for you.

My guess was that there was something wrong/incompatible with the version of RivaTuner that was part of my original Precision X install (as I had previously tried reinstalling Precision X without fixing this issue).  What is funny was that the Frame Rate Target did work fine with P3D (it just didn't remain enabled after my PC was shutdown and restarted).  For others who might be having this issue, I should probably mention that I didn't even run RivaTuner . . . all I did was install it.

Interesting.

After I installed EVGA Precision Tuner (which also installed Riva) - Riva wanted to do an update (which I let it do).

Is it possible that EVGA PT is no longer working correctly and is possibly only workable with the specific version of Riva it originally installed?

Would seem odd....but....haha

Arwen, my EVGA GTX770 SC 4GB also maxes out at 106%. The other two are set for +100 and +60 respectively.

I just closed and restarted the program and my target of 60fps was still set correctly.

As I owned one its nice but compared to a titan not in the same league - take care

Need sli support in P3D which would be awesome

Anyone used P3D with an AMD r9 290x?

Lots of review sites rave about its performance and much lower cost that comparable NVIDIA gear.

What I find not funny at all...is that the TItan series...packed with all that horsepower, and, as reported by users stating FPS's.... isn't truly putting out much more...and in some cases only equal...to my SuperClock Plus.  I find that..not a good thing.  What is holding back FPS on Titan operated systems?  Probable answer...as always in P3D/FSX....the CPU 'glass ceiling'.  Not good....
