FSX Steam Released! (80% off sale?)

Recommended Posts

Why is everyone so excited about this...I don't get it. You all have FSX already. What is the material difference apart from multiplayer? I can't see any.

It seems to me that 80% off an 8 year old piece of software is about the correct pricing point anyway, so I have no idea why everyone thinks it's such a bargain.

They didn't "just fix the multiplayer".

Look at the change log:

So the 3 other things they "fixed" are worth all this?

"All this", as in, $4/€4? I think so, especially if you have Windows 8.

Many addon developers are doing something about compatability.

My copy is 100% broken. I have an AMD R290x with the latest Omega drivers. All the 3D model of the planes are transparent and the whole sky is black.

Because it gives FSX users a way forward for those who cannot move to P3D.

I bought it to support my hobby even though I will probably never install it, P3D is the path I have chosen but it's great that FSX is getting such exposure.

A way forward to what? Nothing has changed in FSX-land from last week to now. It has created more work for some though.

Go back to pure ATI drivers and see what happens.

Well, it being available on Steam and sold so cheap will certainly bring some new people to this hobby, so yes, it certainly has had a positive effect overall. Really at this point there's not much of a future for any gaming genre that can't be found from Steam.
