2.5 is Out

They made it a lot more efficient, both performance-wise and VAS usage, and they fixed bugs, and they are still fixing them! The only real license restriction I read is that they cannot add new facilities or make any significant product changes -- i.e making it effectively NOT FSX any more.

Hey Pete, thanks for the clarification!  Too bad, it sounds like they may have a good crew to do the work. I am sure it was not an easy task to accomplish what has been done to date!

Sorry, if this goes beyond the topic, however, wasn't this a two-part deal?

One was FSX on Steam with essentially bugfixes. However, if memory serves me right, there was a second part allowing Dovetail to develop something new "based on MS FS Technology". Some people believe this would be a "Flight" based product, which, if extended in proper directions, might not turn our that bad.

Kind regards, Michael

...VAS issues aplenty in V 2.5...

Unfortunately even Lockheed Martin have stumbled when it comes to fitting a Quart into a Pint pot.

Ah, the quart...and the pint! So much more attractive than centiliters and milliliters.

In the airline industry, we call it 10 pounds of crap in a 5 pound bag.

in Canada it is 750 mL where they follow the metric system

Yes the FSGlobal 2010 installer adds a line to each entry "Remote=" which seems to screw up the library parser.

You can use the Replace function in Notepad to remove them all.

Thank you so much FSGlobal 2010 was the ONLY install I had with P3D 2.5 since it is always the first thing that gets installed.  I asked this before and will ask again, are there detailed notes on what configuration files changed and locations of moved files that exists anywhere or are we in a whack-a-mole situation where we fix issues as they arise?

EDIT: Also, has there been any consensus on the use global view variable within P3D?  I understand the goal of it but was wondering why it would affect performance either way as long as you're panning around within the cockpit...

A centilitre is metric friend. Not SI though. For that you'd need a 0.75x10^-3 m^3 bottle ;)

Just try it and answer your own question. It's not hard to make the change yourself and see what happens.

So even Canada is using the metric system? When is the rest of the anglo world gonna fold and adopt the superior metrics?

Yes...very much so, if referencing the pint to one in the hand...

Reading this thread...I have been having a pint or three in the hand over the last couple of days....man...I think that I shall seriously wait with a full working copy of v2.4...until all this dust has settled...and 3rdP's have it all sending files to where they need to go, a' la' v2.5!    Ok...back to a flight in v2.4.....jeez.....

It's spelled 'WHINE'
