2.5 is Out

Just tried to do it manually, pointing everything where it should be, i.e. Birmingham Xtreme to Addon Scenery folder

Rick,

UK2000 airports install to /UK2000 in the FSX root folder and the installer activates them with the UK2000 server.

So you will need to either have them already installed in FSX and copy the folder over, this will work because you will already have activated them with UK2000. then copy the effects over, then add the Airport and common library to your Scenery.CFG which I believe is now in the  C:\ProgramData\ path

Or use the Estonia Migration tool (much easier) but it needs an update for P3Dv2.5

Do you already have them in FSX ?

I don't know if this has been posted yet but FS Global real Weather has been updated for P3D 2.5.

Yes, I have this also as described. HDR off it goes away but I want HDR on so am looking for a solution.

I have a GTX970 and using the newest drivers 347.52. Don't know if it's these drivers or not. Would anyone using other driver versions let us know if this is present or not for you? That could help shed some light on the subject (pun intended)!

This is the only issue I have with this new V2.5.

Try to switch of lens flare maybe that helps. But this blinding i would say is intentionally. It reflects the reality. Even in the real plane sun is always a factor. Am using an older driver and im having the same. You guys may also noticed that we now have black outs and red outs while pulling or pushing high G loads.

Doug, It's the same way you make any new folder in windows.

Browse to the Prepar3D folder then simply Right Click > New> Folder

Cheers Glynn,

Will give that a go now!

Yes:

Download it and if you like it, purchase a license. In my opinion, any of the three weather engines are excellent, ASN, FSGRW and OpusFSI. I have all three, but I tend to use ASN out of personal preference.

Time to break out the Raybans lol this simulator malarkey is getting pretty good

You know, I wouldn't really have any issues with the effect if it worked correctly... But when you get blinded simply by looking towards the sun, even if there's a wing or part of the fuselage in front of it, then it's a bit

I hope it can be fixed easily...

Agreed...the sun glare is pretty over the top.

Obviously the EDIT came a tad late because soon after, I managed to figure out and install Leeds, Doncaster, Birmingham, Heathrow, Prestwick, East Midlands(all Xtreme)into P3D, and checked them all. In fact have just taken off from Doncaster for a short ride to Heathrow. Thanks for your valuable assist.

Well, this has gotten rather squirrelly. I have since removed 2.4, deleted it's folder, removed every instance of P3D from the system, downloaded the new 2.5 full installer and ran it as admin earlier this evening. It acted like it was working but once finished it said all went well. Now the squirrelly part; no LM/P3D folders, no files a totally invisible installation. Nothing in the start menu and no increase in size of the selected drive. Ran the setup again, as admin, and got P3D is already installed repair, uninstall options. Ran the uninstall and it seemed to work as well. Ran CCleaner just to check, NADA, OK good (so i thought). Rebooted. reattempted install now get sorry install failed. Looking at the Log file created it seems the setup file is not being elevated even though I run as Admin both times.

Now my question;

does anyone know the command line execution to elevate the process? my last shot in the dark before I wind up losing my arse...  :(

The same thing happened to me - the installer said that it was finished but it did nothing!  I just tried again (after uninstalling what it didn't install in the first place) and it worked.  I never had that happen before with any program.

I can say that the shimmering has increased? (same settings of 2.4, DSR 4x + 4x MSSA).

If you have NVidia it is always best to start with a fresh CP profile after P3D is updated, and if you ever install a new GPU driver. Lots of shimmering objects can be caused by an old NVidia profile.

Run "Prepar3D.msi" to install P3D, not Setup.exe. We do not need to "Run as Admin", allow the installer to elevate permissions when it asks.

Allowing the install to the default location: Before installing addons, use Explorer and browse to the P3D program files folder, right-click on "C:\Program Files (x86)\Lockheed Martin\Prepar3D v2" choose properties from the popup menu, choose the Security tab, click Edit, select Users (<mycomputername>\Users), and check Modify and Write permissions (Write is usually checked automatically when Modify is added), choose Apply, OK.
