September 29, 201510 yr Large airports with 100% AI, UTX, REX, moderate autogen = a typical scene of VAS crime. Slow and low flyers usually weren't affected. 9950X3D, X870E ROG CROSSHAIR HERO, Corsair Dominator Titanium 64GB DDR5-6000 PC5-48000, ASUS RTX 5070Ti 16GB, 9100 PRO 4TB Samsung ,990 PRO 4TB Samsung, AX1600i 1600 Watt 80 Plus Titanium ATX, ASUS 360 ARGB EXTREME 360mm Liquid CPU Cooling Kit.
September 29, 201510 yr Moderator Fixing the VAS issues is definitely a step in the right direction before moving to 64bit. Changing to 64bit and not optimising the memory management is just masking the problem, and more efficient usage of memory is going to help a lot in the long-term to improve performance. For me at least, this is the biggest complaint I had with the FSX and P3D platforms. However, I hope the changes don't encourage developers to start making heavier scenery (With pointless interiors for buildings, etc).
September 29, 201510 yr Personally it's underwhelming. Let's not forget that v3, just like v2, is a work in progress. Some of the great features of v2 weren't there at the initial release. When you get v3 you are not only getting the initial version but also everything that will be added in the future. You are supporting the future of the sim. Even though I was hoping for more I am certain I will buy v3. I do hope though that texture loading will be improved in 3.1 or 3.2 or so...
September 29, 201510 yr Seriously, it's not a game. It's a professional product designed for commercial use. Like AutoCAD is a professional product designed for commercial use. I think AutoCAD's currently running over $4000 per license... so... is $200 so crazy? Seriously??? Keep telling yourself that. This is FSX 2.0 John doe
September 29, 201510 yr I looked at V3 recommended specs and now it seems like 4GB videocard is a new "must". Thus, going to replace my 780GTX now and wondering whether I will be ok with 970 or 980? Will additional $250 for 980/Ti will add 10FPS or the difference between 970 and 980 will be barely noticeable in P3D? I don't have any other "games" on my PC. Keep telling yourself that. This is FSX 2.0 Then ask LM for a free copy of V3. If you succeed, we'll follow your path :-) 9950X3D, X870E ROG CROSSHAIR HERO, Corsair Dominator Titanium 64GB DDR5-6000 PC5-48000, ASUS RTX 5070Ti 16GB, 9100 PRO 4TB Samsung ,990 PRO 4TB Samsung, AX1600i 1600 Watt 80 Plus Titanium ATX, ASUS 360 ARGB EXTREME 360mm Liquid CPU Cooling Kit.

September 29, 201510 yr Oh it's worse than that. They cry for L-M to update the software, and then cry when expected to pay for it, as if they should get everything for free. I'm one of the beta testers and v3 is definitely not a v2.6 despite what some think. The exact details on why this is true I can't state without permission... but when it's released, the install itself will show a radical change alone. It's not a game. I do consider you a trustworthy source so your words may change my opinion about it. If this is a much more optimized product then it should be worth the cost to "upgrade." September 29, 201510 yr It will be interesting to test these VAS management improvements when P3D v3 and all of my addons have been installed. I can get P3D v2.4 to suffer OOMs very easily, so I may just crank up the LOD value to 5.5 (currently it sits at 4.5), and fly my PMDG 737NGX nice and slow over the London area with Aerosoft Heathrow Xtended, UK2000 Gatwick/London City/Stansted/Luton Xtreme, VFR London X, VFR Airfields Volumes 1 and 2/ES Treescapes active, Ultimate Traffic 2 airliners @ 100%, and MAIW military AI traffic @ 50% (which is all of it). September 29, 201510 yr Here http://www.prepar3d.com/news/2015/09/113061/ Yup, that seals it for me, not about to spend hundreds of dollars to get bug fixes that I can't even see anyway.
September 29, 201510 yr It doesn't require 4GB video memory... it's recommended, though... Best regards,--Anders Bermann-- ____________________Scandinavian VAPilot-ID: SAS2471
