December 23, 20169 yr I will buy this when "Her Indoors" is not looking. Sounds like a great plane, and a replacement for my MD11. December 23, 20169 yr Really a joy to fly! https://www.icloud.com/sharedalbum/#B0UGf693ZGJXwEM In winter over Switzerland Regards, Perry
December 23, 20169 yr I did a first test pattern in it, from cold and dark to shutdown. So far, she worked flawlessly, as expected, and the FDM seems very nice! I haven't dug too deep into the system modeling yet, but the FMGC, the independent MCDUs, all the messages and displays seem to be very close to the real thing! An issue I had, is that T/C and T/D seem to be calculated correctly, but don't get displayed on the ND. All in all, very good for an initial release! Major downside on my system is, that she is very heavy on the frame rate. The PFD is stuttering all the way, and the whole sim, although showing fps around 27-30, is stuttering and has occasional hangs. My system isn't high end by any means (i3570k @ 4,2 GHz, 16 GB CL9 RAM, GTX670 2GB, all SSD, P3Dv3.3), but NGX, MJC Q400 and AS Airbus perform very stable and quite smooth.
December 23, 20169 yr I just bought her too. One of my mates is flight crew with Volotea on the 717, so looking forward to unlearning bad habits soon enough
December 23, 20169 yr Commercial Member It is nice to see a quality aircraft released that does not cost 100 bucks. Paul Grubich 2017 - Professional texture artist painting virtual aircraft I love. Be sure to check out my aged cockpits for the A2A B-377, B-17 and Connie at Flightsim.com and Avsim library
December 23, 20169 yr I'm having major VAS issues, which I normally only have, er, infrequently. Four flights, 1 in FSX:SE the others with P3D 3.4/HF2 just drains available VAS. I can take off and fly about two minutes. 4K, GTX 1070 6GB, 4790K, 16GB DDR3. Even lowering res to 2K is no help. So far not flyable for me. HELP ME! lol, I'm sure it'll get sorted out... December 23, 20169 yr Didn't even bothered to fly it when I loaded cold and dark and got 20fps instead of >30 with my rest add-ons. Something is very wrong here, I just hope they fix it soon and we don't regret jumping in from day one. Visually is a very nice plane for sure. December 23, 20169 yr Anyone? 1. From a real aircraft perspective.. how much does the 717 differ from the Madog? MD80? 2. One of the aircraft I miss is the F1 MD80 on my P3D V3. From a sim perspective how similar is this to the F1 MD80 it terms simulation and handling? Manny Beta tester for SIMStarter
December 23, 20169 yr One of the aircraft I miss is the F1 MD80 on my P3D V3. From a sim perspective how similar is this to the F1 MD80 it terms simulation and handling? It's essentially a MD-80 frame with a MD-11 type flight deck, so probably not fair to make direct simulation comparisons although all reports so far are very positive.
December 23, 20169 yr Wow, surprised to read these performance issue this morning. She ran beautifully last night on my machine. I'll try again today and report back. Allen, flight sim lover and AA-5 Traveler owner
December 23, 20169 yr Hi Manny, Yeah - been sorely missing my Coolsky F1 MD80 - it was truly a favorite... I would think this plane is substantially different and due to the panels is closer to the MD11 than the MD80... What I like about the MD80 is the performance computer, the autopilot, and all the great noises it makes in flight - almost like the plane is talking to you... Sigh - maybe someday... Still this plane intrigues me for other reasons - heck - at least it's an MD... I'll be waiting for positive reviews before jumping on this though... Regards, Scott
December 23, 20169 yr Aside from the initial 2 hour purchase delay, this will probably go down as one of the smoothest releases of a commercial jet to date. Everything worked correctly for me "out of the box". Frame rates and smoothness are very good (FSX)... no complaints at all. The Addon Manager is easy to use... just not real jazzed about always needing to open it up to specify load/fuel. I haven't read the docs yet, so hoping there may be an alternative method. Everything appeared to work as expected on my short "test flight" last night... I just need to educate myself on exactly how the auto-throttle works so I can eventually do a full-stop instead of endless touch and goes  . As far as complexity... I would put it somewhere between the Aerosoft Airbuses and PMDG/FSL (with apparently more functionality to come). Definitely a keeper!!! Off to read the manuals.
December 23, 20169 yr Is there an aircraft profile for a generic 717 in PFPX/Simbrief - I can't recall.
December 23, 20169 yr Anyone? 1. From a real aircraft perspective.. how much does the 717 differ from the Madog? MD80? On the outside, it looks like an MD80 that never made it out of adolescence  . In the cockpit, the overhead presentation reminds me a little of the maddog (kind of a haphazard layout); but it is definitely different from its older siblings. The pedestal (speedbrake, flaps, etc.) appears to share some components from the earlier models. Other than that, it's completely different (6 glass displays, different FMS, no pink paint to be found).
