December 23, 20169 yr To be honest, i don´t know what to do, i was about to purchase this puppy at release, but their server problems unfortunately (or should i say fortunately) prevented me from doing so, finally went to bed. Now i´m reading about so many performance problems here and also in their forum, so i´m pretty concerned and not really sure if i should spend 60 bucks for this addon. Guess i´ll hold off for a while and wait for peoples´ feedback. While i´d love to hit the "buy" button right now, my common sense says "NO" Hope to see some positive comments here soon, specially regarding performance. Maybe this helps me to make the right decision. December 23, 20169 yr how much does the 717 differ from the Madog? MD80? It's very different in the cockpit, everything else not so much.
December 23, 20169 yr Anyone? 1. From a real aircraft perspective.. how much does the 717 differ from the Madog? MD80? 2. One of the aircraft I miss is the F1 MD80 on my P3D V3. From a sim perspective how similar is this to the F1 MD80 it terms simulation and handling? It's essentially a MD-80 frame with a MD-11 type flight deck, so probably not fair to make direct simulation comparisons although all reports so far are very positive. I had to go the opposite direction and do -88 training after having flown the 717 for 1000s of hours. Let's just say they fixed all the things "wrong" in the -8x series that make the plane much more user friendly as a 717. *in the 88 you have another "wheel" to dial in your CG and flap setting, and it moves a green trim flag which equates to the green area on the CONFIG page in the 717. It's the same type rating, but definitely makes the -88 feel ancient. Flying "feel" wise? Basically the same thing- as expected, the -88/-90 does not slow down/go down and lacks the nimbleness the 717 has. The engines on the -88 are less responsive from idle, although I see that simulated a bit too much in the 717. December 23, 20169 yr I'm having major VAS issues, which I normally only have, er, infrequently. Four flights, 1 in FSX:SE the others with P3D 3.4/HF2 just drains available VAS. I can take off and fly about two minutes. 4K, GTX 1070 6GB, 4790K, 16GB DDR3. Even lowering res to 2K is no help. So far not flyable for me. HELP ME! lol, I'm sure it'll get sorted out... December 23, 20169 yr Your not the only one. Others are reporting the same thing. All those first flights were in the northeast USA, heavy on ORBX scenery. I restarted and went to PHNL and completed a 20 minute flight rather nicely, albeit reversers would only disengage with F1 key. I must say it hand flies beautifully (though how accurately I would not know). Next flew KBDL-KMHT and disabled ORBX/Vector, this time I was low on VAS but completed the flight fine. I really have to go read the manuals as I feel like a bit of an idiot looking for things I normally do with GoFlight/Saitek hardware! i7-9700K, MSI Z370, PNY 4070 Super, GTX 750Ti, 32GB GSkill, 43" curved Samsung, 32" BenQ, 11" LED, RealSImGear GTN750, Win10, P3DV5.4/P3DV6 and MSFS, several GoFlight modules, Saitek radio, Brunner CLS-E NG Yoke, Virtual Fly TQ6.

December 23, 20169 yr Just took her up for about an hour, playing around Orbx AYPY and Orbx YBCS, all my normal FTX/Vector/AS2016/ASCA loaded and things ran just fine. This is P3Dv3.4HF2 at 3440x1440 on an i7-6700K w/ 16GB RAM and an AMD 390X GPU. Absolutely no complaints with performance. Best comparison I can offer as I know framerates themselves are so different depending on settings, but it runs at my locked framerate of 35fps just fine, same as the PMDG 777 or NGX on my rig. Unlocked it'll go much higher but the swings from 40-70-50fps etc drive me nuts ha Do have one question, and probably should find it in the manual, but how do I download any additional liveries? Didn't I see someone was flying the Delta scheme already. I can't see where in the TFDi Addon Manager. I'm sure this is simply user error on my part. Allen, flight sim lover and AA-5 Traveler owner

December 23, 20169 yr So glad everyone is enjoying the aircraft and are being pleasantly surprised for the time being. Remember that more features, and systems fidelity will continue to be added in the coming days / weeks. She is still very very flyable and enjoyable right now. If anybody has any issues or requires support, please post over in the TFDi forums and I will be happy to answer you there. Any comments or feature requests feel free to keep the conversation going, me and the entire team are all listening. To get them to see it more quickly post over at TFDi design or get my attention here. Thanks everyone. December 23, 20169 yr The VC reminds me of the md11. Too bad pmdg scratched that plane. One of my all time favs.
December 23, 20169 yr Just did my first flight. Nice aircraft. Smooth FPS. It definitely needs the MCDU to pop up. A lot of work for one person switching views while flying. I don't have EZDok or Chase Plane. The throttle needs work as well. I do like the aircraft so hopefully they will make some tweaks and feature changes as mentioned. Loading up for my 2nd flight now. December 23, 20169 yr I have a Saitek control wheel and set up as I normally do but the trim button is operating the Alternate trim instead of the regular trim...is this just me?? Also have Saitek throttle and the power is very jumpy...in other words as I move the throttles forward there is nothing and then all of a sudden a big jump in power. Could be some calibration issues I guess...?? Eric i9-12900k, RTX 5070ti OC, 32GB ddr5 5600 RAM, 2TB 980 Pro SSD, Titan 240RX AIO, Samsung CRG90 49", Win 11

I don't think it's calibration... the spool-up definitely needs a little fine tuning... takes a little too long to react and then spools up a little too fast when it does.

I agree. There is a slight delay, but with the FADEC of these engines (and similar to the -90), the sim is being a bit exaggerated. It goes from 22-50% N1 a little too quickly. Also, the N1 indication on startup. Yes, I realize that it takes a long while to display an N1 indication in the real airplane, but this sim doesn't show any N1 rotation until 35% N2, and the "acceleration" hang is a little too exaggerated at 29% N2... I'd almost abort for a hung start at that point.
