P3D VAS usage (FSL A320 related)

Featured Replies

You seem to be basing your reluctance to purchase on one report  Most reports seem to be positive.

Or the numerous tickets on the forum. I mean thank goodness you can select cold and dark start up,... Oh wait hold on

After the update I bought it today doing my first leg with the plane, I have to say I am extremely impressed with this bus. Wow what a immersion in this puppy. Currently doing TJSJ to FLL. Plan on doing three legs. Let's see how it goes.

Folks,

Does the package comes with the Tutorial?

9950X3D, X870E ROG CROSSHAIR HERO, Corsair Dominator Titanium 64GB DDR5-6000 PC5-48000, ASUS RTX 5070Ti 16GB, 9100 PRO 4TB Samsung ,990 PRO 4TB Samsung,  AX1600i 1600 Watt 80 Plus Titanium ATX, ASUS 360 ARGB EXTREME 360mm Liquid CPU Cooling Kit.

Anyone testing with the PMDG planes?

Thanks Michael Moe

Just tested the shader trick myself using the PMDG 77W at gate D 47 EHAM using 360 degree outside view but no gain on my system. VAS was 2.8-2.9 on both tests.

Thanks Michael Moe

Of course you can start cold and dark. All you have to do in FSX (where you have to load the trike first due to FSX limitations) is shut the engine down on the trike before loading the A320.

In P3D you can load directly from the main menu. Provided your P3D default flight starts in an aircraft with the engine shut down (mine's the Cub), the A320 will load C&D. If you don't want to change your default flight, just load the Cub first, shut the engine down, the load the A320.

It did improve memory usage. They could remove those 3D fuse panels which have no use in the FSX and P3D releases to improve further and also increase the framerate.

Honestly -- we tested this. I know it's a popular theory, but the 3D circuit breakers really, truly, honestly, are not some sort of magic VAS bullet. I promise!

I am surprised not many FSX users of the A320 reported issues.  Unless I missed their posts.

Bear in mind that P3D v3.4 is in itself about 500mb heavier on VAS than FSX before you load anything, A320 or no A320....

Well... I need to decide which plane to buy first - 747v3 or the bus? It's not about the money, but time to spare. I haven't been flying true Bus since PSS times, i.e. 2004 or even 2003. Need a lot of memory refreshing and new reading.

Time to spare? Hmmm. Thinking rationally and based purely on that (time to spare) I'd say the Bus would be a better buy (if you want a semblance of realism based on flight times) since the 744 is, in all honesty, a long hauler. With the Bus (or any short / medium haul aircraft) you could do multiple flights in the time it takes to complete a long haul in the heavies and it does definitely get more interesting since you will be doing multiple take-offs and landings as well rather than stare at instruments and check fuel figures for hours on end.

Yes, you'll need to do a fair amount of studying prior to or while flying the FSL A320 because it is definitely a high fidelity reproduction of the real thing but it will be rewarding in the end as no jet aircraft for FSX / P3D has the immersion factor that this has.

Cheers!

WOW.. Interesting! I didn't know that.. I thought P3D did better than FSX when it came to VAS/

Actually it's otherwise. However, if you really meant what you said, I'm really sorry for FSL beta-testing team :-)

Thanks for doing this test for us...

I assume all ORBX stuff including Vector and AS2016 are present in this scenario?

Yes all on.

747v3 or the FSL A320, that is what I asked myself.

It's down to you, for me I like short flights and that's why I went for the A320, it's perfect for BAV and flights around the UK and Europe.

We're can I fly a 747? For me it would be like I fly the 777 cargo short hopes.

Thanks David. I get around 1 Gb at some gate on Terminal 2. But this is without leaving the VC. Have to check tomorrrow what the value is when I also go to outside views.

Actually it's otherwise.

I know that is the hype, but the numbers show different.

Honestly - several of us tested this with identical scenery, identical settings and an identical aircraft model (the default Mooney, which is the same in both sims). We also graphed the VAS usage in FSX and P3D v3.4 several times under controlled conditions with, again, identical scenery and identical settings and we had the same results.

The numbers don't lie!

I mean thank goodness you can select cold and dark start up

You can by making the cub your default start up ( with engines off )

System: MSFS2024, ASUS Rog Stryx Z790-A,  Intel i9-14900KF,  Asus ROG Ryujin III 360 , Asus Hyperion Case,Rog Stryx 4090 OC, Samsung 970 EVO M.2 SSD, 1Tb Samsung 860 EVO SSD,64Gb G Skill Memory, Asus Aura 1200W Gold PSU,Win 11 ,LG C4 48" 4K OLED Screen., Airbus TCA Full Kit, Stream Deck XL. WinWing FCU, EFIS, MCDU

And the new patch released today frees up another 400mb.
