AIG AI Manager

Is there anyway to install AIG outside of P3D so that I may check the files and add AC manually?

I currently have UTL installed with several dozen add on AC that I’ve added myself and don’t want to duplicate or overwrite any of them!

Thanks!

If you wish, You can automate assignments of the UTL repaints to the AIG SimObject folder.

Using my tool:

http://ultimatetraffic.flight1.net/forums/forum_posts.asp?TID=17778&PID=81041

You can auto-generate the repaints.xml to match FLAI, AIGAIM or your how library. But then again, I gave up on UTL and using IAG OCI traffic myself.

I see what your saying....

Yes, I have Orbx installed outside of P3D but P3D is calling the files for scenery and LC.

What I’m asking is can I install AIG to a “New” folder on my desktop without it linking at all to P3D via automatically writing to the add on xml?

No, you can copy the SimObjects out if you want, but that would defeat the purpose of this add-on as the idea of AIGM-OCI is to avoid users doing all these manual work which can lead to miss configurations, etc.

I truly wish that AIG had a public torrent of entire Database to share instead of picking one by one.  It took forever to get all airlines - total size of db is 36gb.  The download is fast, it is just that sometimes you have to be there on the screen to download the models.  It still takes time.  My AIG is set to Min 1% and Max activity 1% - Yep that does load all the planes but it is a performance hit at times.  I am using @Pete Dowson FSUIPC 5 with traffic limiter set to 60 (I assume that it is 60%).

I even created another the other day regarding this issue over here.  Someone needs to create a super basic tutorial on this how to set up - click this and do this etc.  Set it and forget it.

There is a reason why we do not have such a database (called copyright)! And not everyone wants all airlines in the Sim, by having all files listed the user can pick the FPs. Maybe some users are only interessted in the official AIG Releases others in all?

You could, but this will cause problems. 1) P3D will not read any data 2) AIM will fail to run on the next start

No, that means 60 AI aircraft in the sim at any one time. That's quite a low figure.

I have my limit set at 150, but because I also set my target frame rate (in the FSUIPC5.INI file) that limit acts as a low not a high. The traffic is only reduced (gradually) if the frame rate dips below the target too much.

I might switch, too, but how do you guys get GA traffic? In some regions like NA one might add ORBX GA traffic, but for other regions - like Europe - this isn't available.

Maybe airliner pilots don't care that much for the little toy planes, but as a mostly GA flyer I need them.

Kind regerds, Michael

I borrowed the default GA flightplans from UTL, or Ultimate traffic, either BGL.  I then use AIFP3 to assign new aircraft that I borrowed from ORBX. Just try to use similar speed aircraft. Also delete the commercial airplanes from list using AIFP3. Works great and covers entire world. (Be sure to cancel assigned flightplans for commercial, AIFP3 will prompt you. Put the new bgl either in your root scenery/world/scenery or your AIG manager flightplan file.

When I go to the ERRORS menu within the program and open the dropdown list I see several AI Aircraft listed (including most of my non-AI addon aircraft), am I doing something wrong that these planes are getting an error? Is it possible to fix?

That is very good. Especially for TE GB London area with Heathrow + AI.

As otherwise 40% at a small airport has little impact but 40% at a major hub has a lot of impact.

Do I need to disable trafficAircraft.bgl in \\Scenery\World\Scenery if I use AI traffic installed with AIG's OCI?

Thanks,

Gerard, what is your Airline traffic density (%) slider in P3D's Options? I understand you use it in combination with FSUIPC AI Limiter?

Thanks,

That's totally up to you. There's no need for the airline traffic but if you do disable it you will also disable the default GA.  You could just edit the default traffic file with AIFP and remove the airline traffic.

I use Pete's AI limiter in FSUIPC to manage the AIG AI - I love it!!
But I have the limit set to 6 aircraft!

This is not because I'm concerned about frame rate, it's to avoid AI cutting me off on approaches or blocking me on taxiways. I can see everyone else has their AI set much higher (with Pete himself having his limit set to 150).

Am I missing something, how are you guys avoiding AI disturbing your approaches and taxiing?

I use 18%. Have not tried the Limiter yet.

I like having lots of AI planes taxiing, arriving and departing when I am at a large airport. It all adds to the immersion and realism. AI planes getting in the way when I am on final approach is less enjoyable, but I just ignore them if they get too close. It is an unfortunate limitation of the ATC system, but nowhere near as bad as having to tolerate empty airports!

For the record, I do not use the AIG AI Manager. However, I do use a large custom database of AI planes that include a large number of AIG (and other) models and flightplans. My commercial traffic is set to 100% in P3Dv4, and I do not use any kind of AI limiter.

Just in case - you can always remove an AI when on final in front of you or when it is in your way on the ground using an FSUIPC facility, just assign a button for it on your input device or your keyboard. Is it KillAI? Can't remember you may want to check it out in FSUIPC.
