September 3, 20196 yr I am reading now that Prepar has to do an update because of Global, and just read that all regions have duplicate weather files that are going to be reworked over the next 2 weeks! I would say a pretty big mess has been made and frustration is beginning to really show in the customer base with these compounding issues. This has really made me think about where I am with all of this considering all of the programs purchased will not work properly unless Central is up to par: which it is not! As someone mentioned earlier you should not need a 3rd party program to get Central right. That said 3rd party programs are a great option and do great things for organizing. It is unfortunate that if Central does not do what it was designed for, ( load outside of the sim) then this is all for nothing! Worse is that the purchased programs can only be used if other programs such as Global are purchased, unlike other 3rd party programs that will work straight out of the gate with whatever sim is used. Microsoft is breathing down heavy on their new sim and if it is anything like the pictures show it will be great. Having a sim that does it all, priceless!
September 3, 20196 yr I am staying with FTX Central 3 for now. I have no need for any new Orbx products at this time and all is running well with my sim.I do hope the Orbx folks who designed and put together Central 4 get the bugs ironed out in the near future.

September 3, 20196 yr General question - if I just did a clean reinstall of windows and i've installed ORBX central (before installing any other add on scenery) am I expected to encounter issues as well? Shom MSFS2024 running on Win 11, 4K screen, Z790 AORUS ELITE AX-W, i9-14900K, MSI 3080Ti, Corsair 2x32GB 6000 MHz, 1+2TB M.2 NVMEs
September 3, 20196 yr FTX central seems to be working satisfactorily at the moment for me as long as you still use the scenery.cfg method of installation. The updated version of FTX4 gives you the option to either use scenery.cfg or addon.xml. If you are using Lorby addon organizer , I would still use the scenery.cfg method to install scenery. I am just re-installing P3d and used FTX3 to install all my regions, openLC and airports. I then did the upgrade to FTX4, and uninstalled F3. I forgot to install LOWII after the upgrade and was worried that installing it would completely scramble my insertion points. Lone behold , I was given the option what method to download , installed LOWI and it itstalled perfectly fine and in the correct layer. I would highly suggest at the moment that if you are doing a clean install is the use the scenery.cfg method and when the addon.xml layering issue is fixed and compatible with Lorby tool, you can migrate over. If you are just upgrading from F3 to F4 , do not migrate. Just use F4 to install new software and to update existing ones.
September 3, 20196 yr Probably the way ahead but still scared to bite the bullet as so much at stake-4 functional sims,FSX,Aerofly,P3Dv4.5 and XPlane I do not want to mess them up but cannot buy new Orbyx Sceneries at the moment because they require FTX Central 4 for installation Might try Central 4 after its next update xxd09

Is that not so?
September 4, 20196 yr For the record, the new system is called ORBx Central (not FTX Central 4). Christopher Low AMD Ryzen 7 9800X3D CPU / 64GB DDR5-6000 RAM / 12GB Nvidia RTX 4070 Super GPU / Gigabyte X870E Aorus Elite Wifi 7 / 1+2TB Samsung Evo Plus M2 Nvme UK2000 Beta Tester
September 4, 20196 yr I have edicted a simple rule for myself. I will use OC whenever I won't read anymore :" It now works without any problem, you just have to etc. and not to etc." 😁 Edited September 4, 20196 yr by domkle Dominique Simming since 1981 - [email protected] GHz with 16 GB of RAM and a 1080 with 8 GB VRAM running a 27" @ 2560*1440 - Windows 10 - Warthog HOTAS - MFG pedals - MSFS Standard version with Steam

September 4, 20196 yr Someone must have been "watching over me".....because I usually jump on new updates to my installed products. Thankfully, I didn't "jump" at version 4 of FTX. Phew! That would have been a big mistake. I'm happy with version 3 UNTIL a truly seamless, easy to install, and reliable product is produced by ORBX. I surely don't need anything they are selling now since I bought so much of it before the update. P3d is running beautifully, and the scenery I already have is where I usually fly, the U.S. and Europe. Stan
September 4, 20196 yr I decided to install ORBx Central because I will need it when TrueEarth GB Central for P3D v4 is released. That purchase (together with TrueEarth GB North) is a no brainer for me since I fly almost exclusively around the UK. September 4, 20196 yr Just my two cents... I was slow to adopt OrbX Central over FTC Central 3 following people's feedback (for which THANKS!), but have recently made the jump. i figured that if OrbX Central would mess iot all up, than (1) I could still go bakc to FTX Central 3 (as I hadn't uninstalled it yet) and (2) thanks to Lorby's Addon managr I could simply reinstate one of my gazillion addon configuration backups (I make one every single time I make a change in Lorby's addon manager, highly recommended!). Now, I'm using OrbX Central exclusively and have uninstalled FTX Central 3, because it allows you to use the scenery.cfg method, and as long as you use that, nothing actually changes from FTX Central 3. At least, I didn't see any changes at all. Of course you can wonder if there's any benefit to making the jump if you're not going to use any of the new features - that's something for everybody to make up their minds on. Just to say that at baseline OrbX Central does work. I have not ahd the courage to actually migrate anything out of the P3Dv4 folder, though. I figure I'll wait for OrbX to fix the mess and then I'll do it.
