Dang ... I read it as 'Special Yams Company' at first...

Tsk tsk...

There's a lot of popping. But remember it is pre-alpha footage. There's a long way to go still.

I don’t see why it would be the PMDG 747. The Asobo team will be able to do a better job than PMDG at this point in their own sim.

Wait, what? Did PMDG actually announce this?

Yes. https://forum.pmdg.com/forum/main-forum/general-discussion-news-and-announcements/25608-07nov19-pmdg-product-trajectory-alignment-what-to-expect-in-the-coming-weeks-months-hours-etc

Unless I've missed announcements on these:

  • Control of online AI aircraft once the transponder is turned off. How do we get a landed aeroplane from a R.E.T. to the gate at the appropriate parking spot? Then how to get aeroplanes to holding short of a runway for departure without just spawning next to the active?

  • Sky textures. I don't want random 30-day texture sets any longer. A tropical sunset should only be visible in the tropics, an arctic sunrise only once north of the polar circle. Pollution over a big city should have an effect on colour of the sky. As should time of year.

As far as I can recall, they did give some input on these aspects.

  • AI: Once the online aircraft has landed, AI will take over and do the ground handling. I'm not sure how they will be doing this for departing aircraft as they won't show before the transponder is turned on, but perhaps they are looking up real world schedules to create the appropriate flights.
  • We know that the sim has a full year cycle for the sun, so I would expect lower/higher sun angles to impact the colors. This seems reasonable given the amount of detail they are putting into the weather and atmosphere. They also did say pollution, humidity and air density are simulated (one of the developers even mentioned ozon levels) which will also impact the lighting, so I would think sunset/sunrise colors will respond to this as well. I mean, we even have rainbows forming realistically...

How the heck a YARN company wound up a near aviation monopoly is a mystery.

I suspect that they began by selling aircraft canvas for fuselage in the heroic times.

Hats off to the asobo team. We all know that PMDG will be developing for MSFS. We also know that they have an already fantastic 748 for FSX and P3D. Asobo team could have waited on PMDG to port over their 748 but they were like naah lets do our own 748. Now that is huge. This tells us two things. Firstly they are not solely relying on 3rd parties to populate their sim with accurately modeled jets. Secondly they are willing to go toe and toe with the big guns out there. Tell me that 748 doesn't look better if equally good compared to PMDGs. I mean partnership with Boeing does have its benefits lol. These guys are wizards. They have so much information. Insanely advanced tech, finance, partnership with major aircraft manufacturers and talent to put all that to work. Gentleman welcome aboard the Asobo hype train !

Finally! An A320 with wingflex in a flight sim! Hopefully they add more wingflex to the 747 tho.

It's crazy that I've been called out before for saying things like "in-game", which to some in our community seems to imply disrespect towards flight simulation.

I'm both a commercial pilot and software engineer and I honestly don't care if you call it "in-game", "in-simulator" ... whatever works for you and how you use the product.

But this is looking very impressive.

What about 1:39 at the trailer, that’s not wingflex?

One thing I noticed is how the shadow on the engine is sharp on the inner side near the fuselage and gradually becomes soft near the pylon. Super impressive if it is what I think it is. A very neat technique also used in Red Dead redemption 2.

Because no release Date was announced yesterday, I´m really thinking about that MSFS will release at the end of 2020. Maybe they will announce the date at the E3. Unfortunaly

Pretty sure the original E3 trailer said something about holidays 2020? Which would make sense as that’s when the new XBox is expected to release as well. Although I could be combining things.
