March 15, 20206 yr Hey everyone, currently flying my usual tubeliner on Lnav /Vnav and starting to want a new adventure. I’m looking at trying out GA twin operations, I’m looking at getting a twin add-on and some scenery to fly these ops. Anyone have any recommendations on aircraft and scenery? I’m looking to fly shorter hops and would like to find areas in close proximity where I can get some scenery (chunks of scenery in small geographical areas) I think I’ve narrowed it down to either the Alabeo C421 or the milviz 310 and probably get the rxp gps as they are on sale at the moment. im not really sure what exactly I’m looking for but thought maybe with some recommendation I can do some research and see what suits my needs and interest. I’m getting a little bored with the Vnav Lnav stuff and want to get back to the “roughened” flying for a little while. thanks Intel I7 12700KF / 32 GB Ram-3600mhz / Windows 11 - 64 bit / NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060TI / 32" Acer Monitor, Honeycomb alpha/bravo, CH rudder pedals, Tobii 5, Buttkicker, Logitech radio panel.
March 15, 20206 yr I used to fly a lot of tubeliners, but currently I am mostly into the Milviz KingAir 350, which is a great model. Another good twin is the Aerosoft Dash-6 twin otter, although the textures are a bit dated by now. If you are not focused on twin GA, you could also consider - A2A Constellation - Aerosoft DC-8 (totally different experience from modern jets) - Milviz bushplanes (DHC-2 Beaver, DHC-3 Otter, DHC-3T Turbo Otter) - Roland Laborie Firefighter CL 415 (dated but unique) - Lionheart Creations Quest Kodiak (dated but unique) Peter
March 15, 20206 yr The freeware Manfred Jan c-47 at Sim Outhouse is a load of fun with a world of liveries available. I love it and what better plane for the bush then a DC 3? And what part of the world has the three not seen? And the price is right.🙂 Edited March 15, 20206 yr by PATCO LCH Vic green

Probably the single best freeware aircraft you can get your hands on. I’ve been combining it with Air Hauler 2 and having a blast delivering to airfields I’d never have the motivation otherwise to visit. March 15, 20206 yr Milviz c310 for sure. There Baron is very good as well for being an older model. There Comanche is way to bland. Matt Wilson
March 16, 20206 yr I hope you don’t mind me making another suggestion, if you like and enjoy flying tube, flying GA’s can feel like watching paint dry, very quickly becoming really boring. If you want a huge learning curve, be totally engrossed 100% of the time and be blown away by the depth and looks of it all. Try DCS. It’s free but you will want to buy a aircraft that you want to enjoy, cost no more than a A2A GA. Its another world and it makes coming back to NG A320 enjoyable again because DCS feels so good. It’s nice to have a rest lol. David Murden. After a long absence from using the 310 I broke it out for our Saturday night online flight. Hey, it looked as good as I remembered, sounded good.....for the first ten minutes. Then it got on my nerves. So noisy, too much wind noise, pressurisation hissing and puffing. I swapped it for a C421 by Alabeo. Much more civilised. +1 for the DCS comments above. March 16, 20206 yr FlySimware Cessna 402C. Scenery: Orbx Nantucket and Block Island. The 402 can be tough to get into KBID since the runway is so short. You can get to KBOS from those. Make sure to get a GTN 750. There is some Maine scenery as well. You can always do a run to KTEB and enjoy the NYC Skyline. 10700k / Gigabyte 3060
March 16, 20206 yr Couple of good ones are the Diamond DA-42 and Diamond DA-62. These types are often used for training airliner pilots because they have a diesel engine, which means the throttles are very similar to those found on a jet airliner and they have a a big glass cockpit with nav systems similar to those found on a jetliner. You can find them from Carenado and Vertx simulations. Here's a comparison vid between those two sim offerings: Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

Or the exact opposite. Actually flying an airplane instead of turning knobs and staring out the window is actually pretty interesting.

Yeah I have to admit that's the first I've heard someone say GA is boring. I always thought the same as you which is why I don't fly airliners. I do fly the Flysimware Lear 35 and Carenado C560,, and a variety of turboprops (even the Majestic- which is sort of an airliner I don't really fly that exact product much). This being said, I can see the other side of the coin too. People love to simulate pax/cargo fuel, performance planning numbers, GSX (loading of said stuff), and then press buttons and program an FMS, and watch all the cool glass displays work while doing a long haul. Thankfully we have options in the sim world. | My Liveries | FAA ZMP | PPL ASEL | | Windows 11 | MSI Z690 Tomahawk | 12700K 4.7GHz | MSI RTX 4080 | 64GB 6000 MHz DDR5 | 500GB Samsung 860 Evo SSD | 2x 2TB Samsung 970 Evo M.2 | EVGA 850W Gold | Corsair 5000X | HP G2 (VR) / LG 27" 1440p |

A perfect description flying a F-14/F-18/AV8, landing a GA is like slow motion, try landing a F-18 at night on a carrier or a vertical landing on the deck in an AV8, then I would agree, landing a GA ...no sorry it's a bit like learning to pass your motor bike test on a 50cc or 125cc and moving on to do track days on a GSX 1000. You never go back to a 125. But each to there own, I started off like most on GA's, never do long haul i would agree boring. Real flying hand on stick, DCS. Nothing like it. A2A refuelling...that's real flying. I like flying the FSL's bus'er you dont spend much time doing nothing in the short flights I do. GA's to me are like 50cc motor bike, great when i was 16... But like I said each to there own as long as you enjoy nothing else matters. Like Ryan says thankfully we have options. Edited March 16, 20206 yr by Nyxx David Murden. March 16, 20206 yr The Milviz C310 is one of my go to’s for twin GA. I too am mainly a heavy iron flyer but I do like to do some short hop GA from time to time when I’d rather just choose a simple flight plan and go rather than doing all the work that goes into setting up an airliner flight.
