PMDG NGXu released for v5

YouTube can be a powerful learning tool in addition to referencing the manuals if need be. It's a resource so don't bash it. The above video is for the 74 but applies to the 73, a good place to start.

I just purchased the NGXu a couple days ago, and while the EFB is appealing, I feel the sound pack is what makes this update so good.  With the previous NGX, I was constantly replacing the sound pack with whatever I could download or buy, and Immersive Audio was helpful in that regard.  However, the new sounds are just amazing and I wonder why folks aren't talking about them more?  There's finally real substance and immersion, such as the great bass from the engines, overhead and front control panel switches and dials that are just the right volume.  In older versions the sounds were weak and devoid of life, but this one is really gripping.  Now, I won't say it matches the FSLabs A320 yet, but it's sure knocking at the door.  I should note my experiences are with headphones that help a lot.

How do the new sounds compare with the Immersive Audio sounds?

Could you please show me how to get the SEL temp using the EFB.

Short version.

I do this after I have the flightplan and departure and arrival set int the FMC.

Also make sure you are DONE refueling and loading pax and Cargo or your numbers may be off. Go to the performance page in the EFB. Than go to weight and balance. Read from aircraft. If you hit send to aircraft it WILL send that into the FMC. Confirm fuel load and burn/taxi numbers in weight and balance page.

Hit read from FMC in performance page. Roll through and load your settings, wind/altimeter/flaps/Derate/Packs/anti ice. I use flaps optimum Calculate.

If you get an error reset something and hit calculate again. So if you had AC on turn it off. If you had DTO1 try full thrust

Curt....do the engine sounds reduce in volume and wind sounds increase as you climb?  FSL 320 does this very well and I believe the PMDG 747 did this as well but it has been a long while since I have flown it.  NGX was my favorite for many years and I am considering the updated version now that I have installed V5.

IMO yes, I think it does a good job of that. I actually have to turn down the volume starting around 10k as the wind noise increases.

I now have no need for the Immersive sounds.  They were needed for the NGX, but I doubt you would use them for NGXu.  Sounds are subjective though, so your taste may be different than mine.  As for wind sound, it gradually increases from 250kts up to 300kts or so, and I'm really impressed with that too.

I've never asked how to use the EFB. I'm asking about the SEL temp. Thanks to those for being a bit more understanding and having a bit more patience with me for asking. Sorry if I rather engage with real humans instead of consulting a manual. Isn't that what a good community is for? Help others when you can and if you can't or don't want to, then wouldn't it be easier just to ignore and not reply at all? If you don't want to help, then just don't reply. I really dislike it also when I come across a post where someone has a question and then you get those kind of "RTFM" type responses. It offers no benefit whatsoever and gives the community a bad name with people like that.

Think what if whenever anyone here has a question and would consult the manuals only, then there would really be no community, or at least a pretty dull and inactive one to say the least. By asking here, at least others with the same question may come across it and it will help them and others too.

It's just common courtesy to just not respond if you have something negative to say.

If I think someone out there may find it useful, I'll post it. I've received some fairly rude remarks over it in the past, but I've got thick skin so I really don't care.

In the EFB just complete the information in takeoff tab and you will get v1 vr v2 and sel temp. The right procedure it will be to have completed the weight tab information that you can get from your FMC. You will have to imput manually the sel value you get and your flaps configuration to your FMC. Hope that helps.

Just select what you want at THRUST RTG TAB in Performance section of EFB

That's a quick link to my last video

As can be seen in the video above (1:25.20 ish) the blue front slats are a real show stopper for me for looking around the aircraft. Also some buttons have blue lines in the VC. MadDog and FSL have sorted there PBR out poor from PMDG. on one of there flag ship aircraft. A really big step backwards from how it looks in 4.5HF2

External metalic surfaces are rather improved in the QOTS version for p3dv5 than in the ngxu. Otherwise this was an issue also added by envshade previous version with some PBR textures that I was already using when I streamed this video. When you taste v5 there are not backward move to v4.5 you can afford, believe me 😉
