August 11, 20205 yr We are in an odd situation. We have a new flight simulator, MSFS, that has detailed coverage of the entire world. It is so detailed that no matter where you live, anywhere in the world, you'll probably be able to find your house. So what happens? Well, we jump in the sim and fly out to find our house. The first time we see it in the sim, our first thought is "Hm, that doesn't look all that much like my real house." Think about this. You are in a desktop flight simulator, looking at a representation of your own house, and your first thought is that it doesn't look quite right. Have you ever, in your wildest imaginings, thought that some day you might find your house in a flight sim? And somehow here you are doing exactly that. If you see something in the sim that doesn't look quite right, remember your house. If someone makes a post about something that doesn't look right, remember your house. There will be plenty of things that aren't quite perfect, but like your house, they're there. We've come a long way from the earliest days, but we still have a ways to go. After all, not everyone's house is there, and there will be other missing things as well. But look around... have you ever seen anything like this before? And this is just the beginning. It's like one other thing I can think of. When it's really good it can be transcendental. And even when it's bad, it's still pretty darn good. Hook Larry Hookins Oh! August 11, 20205 yr I totally agree with you. It's not really fair fault the sim for not having the correct height of your house, or shape of your roof or wrong color etc. The point is that no other game or sim has been able to put a representation of your house accuratly where it geographically belongs thus far. When flying around the world come 18th of August, you will get a sensation of life reflecting back at you in the sim. The house you are flying over right now is there in real life, and someone lives there in real life. Gives flightsimming a totally different aspect to it that it didnt have before. August 11, 20205 yr A sense of perspective? Have you lost your senses sir? Remember - "It is a truth universally acknowleged, that a single man in possession of a new flight simulator, must be in want of a good whinge" (apologies to Jane Austen) Edited August 11, 20205 yr by andy1252 spelling Ryzen 9 7900X, Corsair H150 AIO cooler, 64 Gb DDR5, Asus X670E Hero m/b, 3090ti, 13Tb NVMe, 8Tb SSD, 16Tb HD, 55" Philips 4k HDR monitor, EVGA 1600w ps, all in Corsair 7000D airflow case. August 11, 20205 yr Commercial Member Like any new product (or existing production that's been significantly revised) there will be problems to fix. More importantly, at least for me, there's plenty more to enjoy and plenty more to look forward to. www.supertrafficboard.com
August 11, 20205 yr A lot of it is a result of the general type of people that flight sims appeal to. The other thing I don’t quite get at the moment is people getting excited (and getting their wallets prepared) for orbx releasing stuff before they’ve even played the game.

August 11, 20205 yr I sense that there's a lot of confusion going on with the new sim. Maybe simmers just want to express themselves even if what they write makes no sense. That's ok, because we all need something to do especially in these trying times. The way I'm approaching the new sim is with my own 10 year plan. I'm well aware that it will take time to make FS2020 as perfect as can be. For me just the fact that I have a new weather engine with amazing clouds, the entire world has photo realistic textures & some nice AG, enhanced airports, and the sim looks amazing, that's enough for me to invest the $120 for a platform that will eventually have 3rd party airports and aircraft. The new sim, for me, will be a significant leap from P3D v4.5 and worth the price. Unlike upgrading to P3D v5, this one is a no brainer. MSFS
August 11, 20205 yr Commercial Member I also would like to keep the sense of perspective as from what i hear this is more of a game than a simulator; supporting proper simulation infrastructures as sdk developing and cockpit building; there will be very little of that without a proper sdk; and i understand Ms and Asobo are not happy to provide a full version of it. (so i heard). Edited August 11, 20205 yr by arsenal82

The True Simmers won't be interested in finding their house anyway. The rest of us will be rediscovering the joy and wonder we experienced with our very first flight sims. If nothing else, it gives you a reason to hold on to your previous sims. There is nothing wrong with doing this. 8 minutes ago, Shug said: I'll be doing well to find my house. August 11, 20205 yr People also ought to main the perspective that what we are talking about here, is a toy aeroplane game. Now toy aeroplanes may be something that a lot of us like very much, but they are just that. Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here

(so i heard). You misheard, there is an SDK although it is not yet completed, quite a few devs have access to it and some developers are getting SDK changes made on their request; Aerosoft confirmed this, indeed both they and PMDG went as far as to say they were surprised how responsive Asobo was to their requests for features versus Aces . August 11, 20205 yr I agree. This will be leaps and bounds ahead of FSX. It will be a fantastic base for the rock star addon developers to really show off their stuff. I am counting the days until FS2020 and then the counting will start for the addons!
