Carenado Mooney Update

Featured Replies

Had the Mooney ice up badly on a flight last night over the UK. It really affected performance a lot, slowing the aeroplane down a bit and making it impossible to get much above 13,000 feet without getting so close to the stall, even at a shallow 100 fpm with ATC moaning at me to expedite the climb, that it wasn't worth risking it.

I had initially filed an IFR plan for up near 20,000 feet, but was already considering asking for lower by the time I'd got up to 11,000. Personally, I think this affect was maybe overdone a little, but I would much rather it be overdone than non existent, which is the case with most other sims.

The effect obviously could do with a tweak, although it was indeed pretty cold and raining over the UK last night. Nevertheless, it is nice to actually have the weather in a flight sim genuinely be a factor to the point where if that had been a real flight, I probably would have aborted it, landed and waited the night out, instead of with most flight sims, where you could fly through a twister and still be serving coffee.

It's their ONE SHOT at being taken seriously, so many of us have dismissed them as very pretty rubbish in the past.  Truthfully, they owe a huge debt to @Bert Pieke for all his considerable modding in prior sims which has been their redemption if any.  Let's see if they want to run with this, or fade into obscurity again.  The money should be a good incentive, this time.

@Carenado

Please fix the AP (including ALT SEL)

Please fix the Engine parameters- Leaning, EGT, CHT, GPH

Please fix the ADF

You really can change perception with a little more effort- she's pretty good, but could be great... and just think of your market share if you solidify your long term support reputation.

At sixty you should get the stall horn on lift off. That's what I get, but only as a test. Always rotate around 80 and currently using FSUIPC to set up rudder and don't see the yaw issue at 60 IAS.

The stall horn at 60 is correctly modeled, according to this video. They rotate at the recommended 65 KIAS and get the horn. Good video. I followed his advice for landing and haven’t floated or bounced yet.

Lots of post on this thread, so apologies but I haven’t read them all..But I’m getting bits and pieces that this one is a viable GA aircraft from Carenado. I’m thinking this will be my first payware add-on for msfs 2020 tonight.

 Intel I7 12700KF / 32 GB Ram-3600mhz / Windows 11 - 64 bit / NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060TI / 32" Acer Monitor, Honeycomb alpha/bravo, CH rudder pedals, Tobii 5, Buttkicker, Logitech radio panel.

Excellent choice.

I never said it wasn't modelled. Also, Vr is based on weight.

I sent another e-mail yesterday. They promptly responded to my 1st e-mail a few weeks ago. So far, I have not heard from them after Sp1.

I didn't say you didn't say. LOL Was just sharing a video related to the stall horn that I thought would be of interest to the group.

All I know is,  shooting approaches at TFFJ makes me extremely glad that the spoilers are present.   Too much fun.

Not sure if it's the same bug that's affecting you,  but there is a multiplayer bug that is caused by detailed traffic models.  If you run detailed traffic models and then fly within a certain range of other aircraft, switches in your aircraft will be toggled when switches in other aircraft are toggled.  If you listen carefully  you can sometimes hear the switches in your plane "click" without your doing,   then the avionics go dark.  It also causes your aircraft to spawn with dead avionics sometimes. The work-around is to go into Graphics options and set "Use Generic Plane Models" to on.

Here's a screen shot of the option,  https://drive.google.com/file/d/1V3_vXOoDVid1jn_20uv-R-f0v-0eqdfs/view?usp=sharing

I think I can get away with enabling the generic models,  and then disabling them,   without further avionics issues.  At least it seemed that way tonight I think.
