Good point. I think freedom of choice can be almost threatening for some people!  I would like people follow

their own instinct more  Sometimes the best products, software and so on out there, get overly negative reviews.

Dunno, but it's a mystery as to why there appears to be that perception.

Everyone has a choice - a choice of what to type when you post on a forum.  Just because someone reads something negative doesn't mean the entire place is toxic.  I can find negative posts everywhere on the internet regarding MSFS, XP11, DCS, FSX, P3D.  If you look for negativity you will find it!

I find the primary toxicity here to mirror the toxicity there: "MSFS sucks, the devs hate us, they suck, this is gonna fail, I'm going back to (insert old sim here), blah blah blah whine."

As for Reddit, they hate Avsim and anywhere else that moderates posts in any way. Including Reddit - they were furious when Reddit finally got rid of the forum dedicated to whipping up hate against overweight people, and even more angry when it got rid of the forum dedicated to calling Black people derogatory names. They also got enraged when Reddit finally said that posting non-consensual porn wasn't allowed anymore, and also got mad when Reddit said it would no longer be permissible to post cheesecake pictures of underage girls. In short, they're just a lovely bunch of people over there, aren't they.

Any imposition on their supposed right to be raging jerks is anathema to their teenage edgelord anarchic mindset, so naturally they're gonna hate it here.

Even Facebook & LinkedIn forum are sometimes negative. But, I wouldn't call it toxic. As if someone is going to get sick if they read forums. Pretty sad if it did.

Agreed...and I post negative things too.  There's much to love about the new sim.... (some to highly dislike haha)

I wouldn't say it's toxic, unfortunately there are times when people get a bit too wrapped up in their arguments that they can't see other points of view, but that is society I suppose. The moderators are very good and the community often regulates itself with the occasional knob-head being pulled into line.

I'd agree, toxic is too strong a word. Some responses to posts can be objectionable, occasionally insulting and certainly argumentative. Prospective new members must sometimes be put off if they happen to read the wrong threads. But that could apply to most internet forums.

So true! The internet is a haven of brave cowards.

A significant number of members (not including me) have been simming for as long as flight simming has been around (or close to it) and have long-held thoughts and beliefs on the subject, so may, in some cases, be less accepting of newer ideas or opinions. On the flipside, some 'newbies' may be less tolerant of those ideas and opinions. That's life.

Personally, I've never felt the victim of any unpleasant behaviour on AVSim, but I've certainly seen some unpleasant or unnecessary  posts. But to call this site toxic would be an immense overaction. Sometimes the mods let too much go, sometimes they are too strict (IMO of course), but I have been a moderator in the past and you simply can't please everypone all the time when you have to moderate something dedicated to people's passions.
