February 7, 20215 yr Looks like good old mappamundi has done it again! https://flightsim.to/file/7543/coastline-glitch-fix-mediterranean Never mind Asobo, if they let us know how it works, the community will fix it! February 7, 20215 yr Good to have this and I hope MS/Asobo will fix it worldwide soon. - Harry 9800x3D (Strix x870e-E) - 64GB RAM (DDR5 6000, CL 30) - RTX 5090, 34'' 1440p OLED HDR - Windows 11 Pro (1TB M.2) - MSFS 2024 (MS Store, 4TB M.2).
February 7, 20215 yr All that effort and it could be fixed by Asobo in Thursdays Update! Fantastic that the community are doing this sort of "fixing" the issues created by Asobo themselves, but really Asobo need to pull their collective fingers out of their behinds and fix this much earlier, preferably BEFORE it goes out to Public and if not in a Hotfix very soon after. If the UK & Ireland Update does not fix this kinda of thing (land spikes included which are apparently fixed, unsure on extruded Riverways) and introduces more nonsense then I'm gonna be ranting to high heaven and not on their Official Forum as they don't take kindly to criticism even when posted constructively - Asobo, take note and sort your mess out before release not months after, thank you kindly./rant Edited February 7, 20215 yr by MarcG Pico Neo3 Link VR - Windows 11 64bit, Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Elite Mobo, i7-10700KF CPU, Gigabyte RX 9070 XT OC 16gb (AMD GPU), 32gig Corsair 3600mhz RAM, SSD x2 + M.2 SSD 1tb x1 Saitek X45 HOTAS - Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals - Logitech Flight Yoke - Homemade 3 Button & 8-directional Joystick Box, SNES Controller (used as a Button Box - Additional USB Numpad (used as a Button Box)
February 7, 20215 yr Hopefully Asobo will fix this for the entire world in the upcoming update. It’s annoying to eventually have several fixes of this type installed to cover more areas. February 7, 20215 yr Author I am hoping they fix all of the mesh / LOD issues they themselves introduced into this beautiful project. Terrain spikes, coastline sharks teeth, constantly morphing or shapeshifting scenery, and cracks in the earth (silver lines through mountains and black cracks / steps in runways). I hope, but I have lost confidence in them a little. I have to judge by actions rather than words now, as we get a lot of words don't we, and a lot of stuff is way overdue (terrain spike fix), or doesn't seem to get fixed to our expectations (live weather, cloud pixelation etc.). With the various LOD issues, I wouldn't mind them also fixing things like Devils Tower appearing in the distance as you approach, rather than just popping up underneath the plane - do they not see these things themselves? Let's see what happens on Tuesday (or Wednesday, or Thusday!) One thing is for sure, if they are doing the white cliffs of Dover for the British Isles update, they need to fix the coastline disruption, or it will be a waste of time. February 7, 20215 yr Author UPDATE: Mappamundi (previously known as the Spike Fixer ) is working at a great rate of knots, and has now done Europe round to the Baltic coast, and all of Austalia! He may well beat Asobo to it, or at least it will be a good backup if Asobo fail to fix the issue, as I believe they have only talked about a terrain spike fix in the upcoming update, and even then, it is listed as one of their famous 'ongoing improvements.' February 8, 20215 yr Asobo needs to add more people like this to their development team! These people deserve it! Fixing stuff that Asobo should've been fixing but may not have enough resources to do the job. Well then hire people like this who will actually get the job done. ASUS ROG Maximus Hero XII ▪︎ Intel i9-10900K ▪︎ NVIDIA RTX 3090 FE ▪︎ 64GB Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro ▪︎ Windows 10 Pro (21H1) ▪︎ Samsung 970 EVO Pro 1TB NVME SSD (OS Drive) ▪︎ Samsung 860 EVO 2TB SATA SSD ▪︎ Seagate 4TB SATA HDD ▪︎ Corsair RMx 850W PSU

I disagree, they simply need to CHECK their godd* updates before releasing it to the public and by doing this, they should probably not use blind people for the check. There are several things I do really, really wonder how no one over at Asobo recognized it, like the totally overdone icing depiction. Only explanation: test at Asobo was done using a massive manual or rolling cache and testers were only flying in regions where the data was in their cache. But then, this also tells stories about how good their internal beta test procedure is... February 8, 20215 yr My take would still be on an open beta branch to opt in or out. Works for X-Plane, works for Aerofly, why not for MSFS? They've been pondering about this for months now but it's still not sure if we'll get it. Kind regards, MIchael Intel i7-13700K / AsRock Z790 / Crucial 32 GB DDR 5 / ASUS RTX 4080OC 16GB / BeQuiet ATX 1000W / WD m.2 NVMe 2TB (System) / WD m.2 NVMe 4 TB (MSFS) / WD HDD 10 TB / XTOP+Saitek hardware panel / LG 34UM95 3440 x 1440 / HP Reverb 1 (2160x2160 per eye) / Win 11
February 8, 20215 yr Absolutely, I own several other games with such a branch, usually it works and the final updates are of better quality. The "funny" thing is: in the Q&A they mentioned several times (e.g. on the question about water masks) that there ARE several builds of MSFS existing that contain stuff not yet released to the public. So it would be easy to include something like the MS Insider Program for a few willing simmers to test their upcoming update in advance... But you know what? I guess they still think they know it better. Why I draw this harsh conclusion? Because if you closely monitor the reactions in those Q&A videos to some community feedback, this is the impression I get... best example is the visual icing effect, you could clearly see that they did not like the feedback and that they have the opinion that it is fine in it's current state. Elsewhere I read that the devs have been rather surprised about how much feedback is generated by the community and that the community is taking note of things they consider irrelevant details. So, to put it optimistically: they still learn how to handle the vast amount of input by the community... February 8, 20215 yr It's not included in the "spikes" bug, much lower "coastline glitch" status backlog = fix date unknown. The coastline issue is even visible in some teaser pictures MS posted for World Update 3 UK, they aren't even ashamed 😞 Waiting for "triangles of Dover" 😞 Edited February 8, 20215 yr by Steku
