Aviators love their wrist watches... what you got?

Featured Replies

I'm sure we will see many GMTs here... which is awesome because they are my favourite.... I love Omega SMPs but I'd bet many of you fly with Rolex or Speedys.  Let's see them...

The Bond GMT (top) is my everyday watch... I love it... my first and favourite...

Not really bothered about flashy watches. I have a 30 quid Timex Indiglo Easy Reader as my everyday wristwatch. It's not as fancy as an Omega Seamaster, but if it breaks, I can buy another 300 Timex Easy Readers before I end up spending as much as I would on that Seamaster. So far, my Timex hasn't broken anyway, so I guess they really do 'take a lickin' and keep on tickin' and in the process save me approximately six thousand quid lol.

I specifically chose that Timex for its clarity in daylight and darkness for when I worked on the ramp because obviously airliner schedules can be tight so a decent watch is useful, and because it has an illuminated dial if you press the winder, which makes it visible even in complete darkness, so it has actually proved to be a really good watch for use in aviation.

I keep a Naviforce 9185 Chronograph on my computer desk for sim flying, since it has minute, hour and 24 hour dials for aviation stuff in sim aeroplanes which don't have a chronometer. Any other occasions where I need to know the time, I just look at my mobile phone.

Cheap n cheerful, although one of them is a bit Freudian:

@IAhawkeyeDDS

Good topic since time pieces and aviation go hand in hand.

I got bit by the watch bug 3 years ago and started to collect one nice watch per year when my wife and I go to Europe for Christmas vacation. However, since this last Christmas was cancelled, I wasn’t able to go and am stuck with one two watches so far.

I have a Breitling Super Ocean (left) and one of the better TAG Aqua Racers (right). I got the TAG first at the TAG boutique in Paris on the Champs-Élysées. It was what got me started. The next year while passing through Paris I got the Breitling at the Breitling boutique on Rue de la Paix.

I really only want a few more to complete my collection:

Breitling Navitimer B01 -46mm Stainless with black face and white dials

Rolex Deep Sea James Cameron model with two tone black/blue face

Omega - maybe one of the Moon watches or something else. Haven’t decided yet.

In the mean time, I accidentally got into collecting men’s fragrances after getting drawn in by something I smelled in Florance Italy. Unfortunately my fragrance collection has grown WAY bigger than my watch collection as I’ve aquited about 75 bottle vs two watches. Although my wife prefers the fragrances since I always smell good 😂 Just like anything else, it can get expensive quick. Just the other day my wife reminded me that I’d spent around 15k on fragrances over the course of the last year 😂😂1D93ED8A-84D3-4F1A-B466-4FD8C14F66D5.thumb.jpeg.41aecba7a1c7204774d4673b9139f929.jpeg5583008B-CF0B-451D-971D-C0176983A88A.thumb.jpeg.618082e11b749ebda6a1ba001ed067da.jpeg

If I was gonna get a Breitling, that'd be the one I'd pick, the chronograph dials are definitely the clearest on that one out of all the Breitling watches and it is probably the best-looking one too.

Yep, I love it!! I like both the blue face and black face options, but for that layout, I think the black face is the cleanest looking. That being said, since I already have one Breitling, it’s the last one on my list since I don’t have a Rolex or Omega yet.BCD07D79-0932-4599-962E-287ECD79E389.thumb.jpeg.ae36abd38d188a393d57c3f4ebc3030b.jpeg

Some very nice wristwatches on display here.

I've an Omega Speedmaster like the one below.
Given to me as a long-service award from a previous employer.

For aviation (which is the purpose of this thread, right 😉 ) I use a Garmin D2 aviation smart watch.

All info you need at your finger tips. It can also act as nav backup and provide Direct-To any fix/airport in the world (AIRAC updates automaticly). Flightplan transfer from Garmin Pilot is also possible.

I'm just a sim aviator, my daily use watch is a Timex Expedition.

My computer: ABS Gladiator Gaming PC featuring an Intel 10700F CPU, EVGA CLC-240 AIO cooler (dead fans replaced with Noctua fans), Asus Tuf Gaming B460M Plus motherboard, 16GB DDR4-3000 RAM, 1 TB NVMe SSD, EVGA RTX3070 FTW3 video card, dead EVGA 750 watt power supply replaced with Antec 900 watt PSU.

I love watches and timepieces, but don't have the budget!

I'm wearing a reasonable Sekonda quartz at the moment, my dress watch as it were:

https://www.sekonda.co.uk/products/sekonda-mens-black-leather-strap-chronograph-watch-1395

My current workhorse is this, but the stealth one. The numbers and hands are in dark grey rather than white. Practical in daylight only or with a torch, but I paid £9.99 for it about 3 years ago. Like the guy in the video - I thought it was going to be a quartz movement, but it's an automatic so I was quite pleased. Yes, the time keeping drifts after a day or two, but it's no Bell & Ross. Which is the inspiration I believe.

I do have an AVI-8 watch, but it no longer works. Unsure whether to contact them and send it back for a no doubt hefty repair bill (I've tried two local jewellers and they've not been successful). It was a present from my family for my 50th birthday.. The thing is, I really do like their styles and they don't cost thousands of pounds.

It was this model but with a stainless steel strap:

I tried wearing a watch a long time ago. It caused a flare up of eczema on my wrist, so I have never worn one since.

I don’t feel I need a watch when I carry a smartphone (hey Siri what time is it ? 😀) and have computers or tablets never too far. Gave up watches long ago and gave away my old Omega Dynamic and my Rolex.
