For people who are suffering performance Issue after Update3

I think  they should take the version before the latest update, and bring everyone back to that version. Then they should break the updates into small updates, rather than gigantic updates all at once. Wait a few days, see if there are problems, then release another small update. They were they are doing it now is an instant train wreck.

They should give us the possibility to revert back to ANY version we like and want to install!!! Instead of giving us versions and "updates" that only make this game look more and moore like the "good old" FSX in terms om blurriness, stutters and bad preformance!

Well you can revert all the way back to FSX I hear it runs really well on a 9900K and a 3090   😄

Unfortunately being locked into the current version is the downside of cloud based software as a service.

That you can revert back to any version of MSFS that is stand alone and not online cloud based software as a service. In that software model (FSX etc)  the version is dependant on what is installed on your PC.

You are never going to have more than limited functionality to revert in a game that basically is a client server model where the current version is dependant on what iteration is running on the server.  All you can do is tweak your client settings.

Basically MSFS is more like Facebook or twitter than a traditional game. So much of what it does is server side.  You can make minor tweaks to your interface and workaround issues by fiddling on the client side but if a major change occurs server side then it will be what it will be.

From a user standpoint there are very real downsides with this type of model of “forced updates”. I miss the “good old times” in XP11 with optional incremental beta updates leading up to the launch of Vulkan. Back then I used to always keep at least two versions of the sim on my drives - the latest stable version as well as the last 1-2 beta versions. As more often than not with the latter, some new bug causing instability was introduced. Which I understand can occur with the ongoing development of complex software. But to have a choice as a customer, would certainly not be a bad thing.

Has anyone ruled out it being a glass cockpit issue - tried 152 @76T for example?

Ive just flown around Albuquerque at 40fps in the 152 looking for Los Pollos and Walts house, after I made my purchase I came away with no issues.

It's not a glass cockpit issue.

I've flown the Mooney and other analog planes, and the issue was there.

AMD Ryzen R9 9950X3D | Asus Astral RTX 5080 OC | 32 GB DDR5 6000 CL30 | 3440x1440 G-Sync | Logitech Pro Throttles Rudder Yoke Panels | Thrustmaster T.16000M FCS | TrackIR 5 | Oculus Rift S

Yeah it definitely happens with analog planes, I think it just isn't as dramatic since they are easier on FPS overall.  I don't get as severe a drops as some, but just flying the JF Arrow or even the default 152 or 172 II still get fps drops from my normal of near 30 to the high teens in areas that should have no performance issues.  It is still very noticeable and I get it flying around my home area and I never got this until the last patch dropped.  Everything was running great on my 3+ year old PC up until this patch.

I never understand this logic considering you are running an always on simulator.  The only way this would be remotely possible is by forcing you to run the simulator offline if you wasn’t on the latest version.  Then again from a dev and QA standpoint this would be a nightmare to test because of the potential conflicts with every new build which would bring even more issues.

Someone in another forum posted a screenshot email allegedly from Jorg stating they are aware and are working on it.....its amazing to me that the emails seems to indicate they are still trying to understand what the issue is after this length of time - but there is nothing I can do about that.  There was a mention that there would be another update (information wise) on Thursday....

Yep saw the email, it sounded to me they are still couldn't find the root cause of the issue and still investigating. As he promised in the email, he will write something about this issue in Thursday's dev update blog

They can keep the network processing code separate, it doesn't have to be the same version of the code to do this, but there are some "it depends". It's definitely possible to do, for one thing they can just run multiple streams of different version provider components. It does waste some resources, but this kind of stuff isn't usually resource intensive on the server side anyhow.

True. But when it's working right, there are very real upsides as well. That scenery we've been gawping at for the last few months would not be possible without remote-handling. At least, not for most of us because just affording the storage space would be a tall order. If we could afford a big enough SSD to store all the scenery, we could afford to just buy a plane and fly in "The World," where the framerate is always high. 😉

The performance bug drove me back to spending a lot more time in P3d. And I don't mind. I don't do any VFR flights, the low'n'slow props are just as boring as they ever were because even with addon scenery the visuals suck. On the other hand, I've been having a really great time getting to know the offerings from Leonardo, PMDG, etc again.

If you sim long enough, you come to expect this. I bought FS5 on release day and the graphics were gorgeous - at least by the standards back then. But it wasn't long before I was back on FS4 because it was a more robust, fully developed sim, with a lot more interesting airplanes to download from the local BBS. Then a few years later I got FS98 which was a big improvement over FS5 and FS4 finally got retired. But I had to pay for that upgrade. And I skipped FS5.1 and FS95 because they were basically lightly massaged FS5's that Microsoft charged full price for, so I never got the advantage of those upgrades.

And that's where MSFS is nice. When they upgrade world scenery or get us a better flight model or enhance the realism, it'll just show up in our sim. We won't have to buy MSFS2020.2

We're still in the very early stages of this thing, and I'm still willing to give MS/Asobo the benefit of the doubt that we'll come out on the other end with a much better sim than is otherwise currently available.

How can this be?  I had an average of 30+ fps at the beginning of the flight.  Somewhere allong the way, the frames dropped and struggle to keep even 20 frames.  CPU/GPU are running well under half, Ram usage is around 1/2 (I have 32G of Ram).  Photogrammetry is off.

How can the system be coasting along, yet the sim FPS are garbage?  And why in the middle of the flight?  Scattered clouds, mostly clear skies.  Should be no reason for the Sim to be so sluggish.

Never had this issue prior to the last update (and hotfix patch)
