Milviz Corsair?

Featured Replies

Forgive me if this has been answered or if I just missed it in the manual.
Is there a way to bind an axis to the supercharger lever? The way it is now I have to take my hand off of the control stick and manually adjust the supercharger with the mouse making my flight really exciting until I can recover. Would be a lot easier to have it bound to an axis on my x52 pro.

Posted on the Milviz forum already but this might be a better place to ask.

I know this is not the greatest takeoff but it has been on of my best one so far in the Corsair. What an handful

It's worth noting that, according to the manual, the supercharger lever is, at this point, mostly cosmetic as the blower handling is automated.   The one thing it does is help activate WEP when it's at 100% combined with full throttle and auto-rich.   It could be practically be a switch right now.

So there's no separate way to step back the supercharger, you need to manage temps with throttle and vents.

Separately, has anyone noticed that the auto-mixture doesn't seem to work as the manual says it should?   I find myself needing to lean manually past auto-lean above 18000 feet or so to continue making any power, which doesn't seem right.

Did anyone have a luck to put Corsair into spin?

I believe the mixture thing is down to MSFS not being able to natively simulate anything but the (very broken) manual mixture setting or the automixture checkbox, so the automatic settings don't work.

IIRC, the P3D Corsair (and some A2A airplanes) used custom gauges and/or external code to make their automatic mixtures work, so I assume that's not quite possible in MSFS yet.

As per the way the sim is working now (or not, depending on your point of view), we cannot actually make the supercharger OR WEP OR mixture work as they are supposed to.  Asobo is aware of this and has said that they hope to have a fix in the next update.

As for how it flies, we have reworked the stall/slow speed effects and those will be in the SP.

We have also set up the reticle glass, along with the gunsight controls, removable.

As well, we have fixed a whole bunch of bugs.

We are also adding weapons (non functional so far) for the non marketplace version.

It needs to be said, that if you fly with someone who doesn't own the bird, and it's purchased from outside the marketplace, you will NOT see the Corsair.

Other than that, the plane is off size by about 5%.  This is negligible (in our view) and will not be fixed.  The plane is MASSIVE compared to most other aircraft of it's type.  The prop is 14 (FOURTEEN) feet in diameter (or is 13?) (I can't remember!) so it's a big BIG hunk of metal.

Taking off and landing requires finesse along with making SURE your trims are good, tail wheel is locked AND, you're ready with rudder/ailerons when the tail wheel leaves the ground.  Do NOT pull up as you will stall.  WAIT and gently tweak the stick back a bit and you will, if you've done it right, fly right off the ground.  Landing, with that nose... well... good luck.

If you notice things... (like backwards text) those are, for the most part, fixed.  That said, please do not hesitate to get on our support forums and ...  let us know.  We are open to fixing things not related to scale or sim specific issues over which we have no control.

Thanks for liking this one...

Incoming next...  something almost as big but easier to handle....

The Corsair is honestly not difficult to handle, I would go and even say a little too easy, for instance slamming the throttle forward at low rpm in flight is barely noticeable. It should be.

It is an easier beast to takeoff and land than the Flyingiron Spit’. The locked tailwheel is a great invention.

For landing, I would add to your good advice to remember that she is a poor glider on final, she falls like a brick with the throttle at idle.

Good that we get rid of the reticle which a real pain as it distorts the view and has a tendency to generate an aliasing jagging at its lower edge.

Weapons ? I don’t care.

Make the external tanks off at entry .

I suppose that the compass and gyro will be fixed.

I fly the FG 80% of the time, love it.
Great to hear about the gunsight glass.

I wish you would give an option to also remove the mirrors as there a blurry mess.

Also  let’s have the default with no tanks and CG at 30.00

Do we have to wait long for the SP?

It had happened to me a couple of times that after some tight turns the instruments didn’t show anymore the direction the aircraft was actually flying by a large margin.

Ixnay on the mirrors.

Wish we could do the default settings but, as we don't know how, and are not sure it's possible to do...

You'll have to wait till it's done.

Not sure the compass and gyro are on us.  Will investigate...

You were right about the (over) size David. You must have a keen eye for scale.

I just want to say you guys did an outstanding job on this one.  One of my main go to birds now.  Had trouble at the start but learned that wind sock is more important than ever for a smooth none eventful takeoff/landing experience.

Also, ALWAYS manually set your CG, before every flight. "New" CG UI is bugged and resets the empty CG to LEMAC upon loading the plane.
