Fenix A320, high fidelity airliner, is being released

you don't think this plane will blow any FSL version completely off the charts,

I imagine FSL must be feeling like LM when MSFS was announced. FSL is notoriously mum on what they are working on. They announced the Concorde for P3D but one must seriously wonder if this is the best business decision going with a very small niche aircraft on a dying platform. This news about a A320 that on first blush seems to surpass what FSL offers for MSFS cannot be welcome news.

Keeping silent and not communicating to the community is not the best marketing strategy. Fortunately it seems that dev's are not more in the position that we depend on them too much. Now they kind of have to "fight" for their costumers, which is good for us but bad for them. That's the nice thing when a market is shared by many developers and not being depentend on a monopoly.

On the topic of pricing, I do wonder whether the speculative price range of around $60 (based on that Reddit comment), given the supposed depth of this aircraft, will prompt any changes or reconsideration at PMDG and other similar developers regarding high fidelity payware aircraft pricing.

I hope the FBW team doesn’t give up on your A320.  You have a magnificent plane and it’s free,  It has done so much for the MSFS community.  And people will continue to download it if it is free. Cheers.

Agreed, and while ill get the Fenix, ill 100% keep supporting FBW and their fantastic team, weather it be testing etc, and not to mention, as the Fenix 320 wont work on Xbox, the FBW 320 will provide a fantastic alternative for those on console for free.

Yeah...if there were ever a time for FSL to spill the beans on any MSFS dev work on the Airbus series...NOW would be a really good time for them to do it.  After a few more Twitch streams/release announcements like that from Fenix and FSL can pretty much kiss any chance of capturing the MSFS market with their premier product line goodbye. 😏

Then again, I can imagine they may be having kittens right now if they were kicking back with the assumption that the community was just going to wait for them to join the market, with no clue that another company was about to turn their world upside down.  The term "wake-up call" comes to mind. 😄

If FSL persists with releasing all their new products on P3D, they may go bankrupt.  The other problem for FSL is if Fenix releases other variants of the Airbus on MSFS,  Since much of the legwork is already done with this A320, it may not be too hard for Fenix to release other variants of the Airbus on MSFS.

Aerosoft and JustFlight won’t start new projects on P3D anymore because the market for P3D has practically evaporated. FSCrew has also implied they are leaving the P3D market gradually, Milviz seemed to imply the same (although I am waiting for confirmation of Milviz’s statement).

So FSL is stuck between a rock and a hard place. They may not recuperate their costs for any new product they release for P3D.  If they bring their Airbus series to MSFS, Fenix may beat them to the punch in MSFS, which will eat away at the sales of a competing FSL Airbus for MSFS.

I wouldn’t want to be in FSL’s shoes right now.

Me thinks they kept it quiet just for this reason - Fenix is miles ahead of FSL - tough decision for FSL to make now - I cant wait to get my hands on this Fenix version 🙂

Sorry...had to correct your post. 😁

The writing is on the wall....its even in Braille so blind folks can read it too.  Any dev who seriously thinks the P3D market will be as viable in a year as it even was 10 months ago when MSFS was in in infancy, needs to take some reality pills.  MSFS is not even a year old yet, if it stays on its current trajectory, anyone still flying in P3D say, 2 years from now, I predict will be doing so with no commercial devs putting out payware...unless they don't care about making money.

I loved P3d, can't say enough good things about it.  MSFS is just better, way better IMO, as a progressively improved sim always is. Its the nature of progress...not hating on P3d, just stating reality. 😉

The only way I will buy it is if I get an A 320 and A321 and A319 CEO with fences and sharklets.  If it is just a A320 CEO with wing fences... i'll pass.

You forgot all 3 engine variants too!  And every paint job ever put on them included as well. 😄

What on earth is going on? Who are these guys? How were they able to do this in such a short space of time? It is a really good time to be a simmer, that's for sure!

5800X3D. 32 GB RAM. 1TB SATA SSD. 3TB HDD. RX  9070XT.

The Fenix A320 looks amazing and I can't wait to purchase it. It shows that the dev is putting their heart and soul into this project! I will also to continue to support the FBW team as well with their amazing contribution to the MSFS community! But like some here, I feel FSLabs is too late to the game. With no form of communication on what their future plans are is kind of bad on their part. What about QualityWings, have they mentioned anything for MSFS? I hope they won't be doing the same thing as FSLabs.

Yeah, I guess I'm just a bit underwhelmed to get a big announcement then find out its an A320CEO...  but it sounds like it's almost a 1 to 1 of the real thing if it's 60 dollars I might pick it up.

I agree. But don't worry...if the 320 isn't a thing for you, you can still pick one of the three Spitfires out there! 😁

No the A320 series is my absolute favorite airplane.  It's just the trend of every talented developer doing the same airplanes or sceneries over and over is.... I don't know the right word to use... disappointing I guess. These things take time to develop so its like time we could have had another awesome plane. But I get the A320 sells. The A 220 or A350 won't sell as much.  It's just like why do we have two decent Barcelonas but no Rome?

The more I read about this the more incredible it sounds. I just hope they are also developing models for the A321 and A319 for expansion at the very minimum.  I bought Airbus X because of the value I got.  FS labs while being superior was a bad value.  139 dollars for the base a320 then 60 dollars per aircraft.  You want sharklets that another 50 dollars.  Ridiculous. I hope Fenix does not go the FS Labs route.
