Fenix A320, high fidelity airliner, is being released

Featured Replies

I'm not yet certain what to think about it, but if this really plays out well, it'll be among the top addons of all platforms. I could imagine that there are very intelligent people out there that only felt it's worth putting in all that dev-time if a sim platform would offer an adequate market.

The presentation does look legit.

Happy with MSFS 🙂

If you consider stuff like this and the long list of other aircraft in development on top of the upcoming sim performance optimisations, things are looking pretty good for the future!

I disagree, it's not hard to read (see) though the pretence. In truth, there are two different skill sets, flying a real aircraft does not equip a pilot with the skills to operate and problem solve in a simulator, any more than being a simulator pundit equips anyone for real world flying.

However, when it comes down to the finer nuances of how a switch click sounds, spending time setting up a flight using software or following a checklist, one might  expect the flight simulator pundits' and the real world pilots' knowledge to be more evenly matched.

Yeah, nothing like a pretend pilot sitting in his living room flying a $60 simulator, telling an airline pilot that flies a  $100 million dollar + aircraft for a living that he or she doesn't have the ability to judge whether a simulation of an aircraft is accurate or not.

So did A2A, PMDG, Majestic.  So what?

Don't forget FS Labs, Leonardo Maddog, TDFI 717 and to some extent Aerosoft

Well I’m excited, the A320 CEO family is one of my favourite airliners, it will be a great compliment to the FBW NEO.

Honestly wouldn’t have guessed that an A320CEO was the mystery aircraft, but very much looking forward to it.

I just hope beyond hope that they are talking to Skalarki about support for their excellent hardware…my MCDU and FCU have been collecting dust since I moved to MSFS and the previously announced efforts to support the FBW A320 seem to have gone quiet.

Common sense speaking aloud.

I would add that this German fellow Blackbox711' s blessing is a rather good recommendation. One of the best youtubers I know.

You may not have noticed that that is not what I wrote. From time to time, real world pilots have been known to ask some pretty fundamental questions about what to do because their simulator went wrong. Very few would argue that flying a pretend airliner in a game would equip someone for the real life experience but learning checklists and procedures is something that requires no dedicated skill, just hard work. Applying them is a different matter. I agree that the pretentious pundit who is always right and ready to advise everyone on their speciality is at least tiresome but they are few and far between, though very noisy.

There's a lot more of the CEO's flying.  They would have access to a lot more data and documentation over a NEO. They also 3D scanned 3 real-world aircraft. FBW is working on the NEO so I think they did the right thing...looking forward to this one.

They could have at least done the Sharklet version...but maybe at some later point.

Sure hope people don’t expect this to be a 50$ add on as it looks to be in the PMDG pricing league.

I think the older winglet version is fine.  It's a bit different at least.  The sharklet version would be too similar to the Asobo / FBW version, but it may follow hopefully.

Hey! I just thought.  We might get engine choices with this older model.  I loved the Aerosoft versions for this in FSX.  The CFM56 and V2500 models sounded so different.

looks promising for an arcade novelty.

if bb711 is gung ho on this, must be pretty good.

Is this developer related to Phoenix Simulation Software “PSS“ in any way?   A long time ago their A320 was one of my first addons and I loved it.

I'm extremely excited about this! One of my only complaints about the FBW Neo right now is the less-than-ideal performance (likely caused by the CoherentGTDraw thing) - I'm hoping SU 5 helps as far as that's concerned. Personally, I would've preferred they did an A330 or A340, but either way this is great news! Best of luck to Fenix, I'll be waiting anxiously for release!

As far as I understand, the Alpha version is 1.5 fps lower than the bog standard A320 from Asobo, and 4-5 fps higher than the modded one.

And that's before they've done any optimization. And with uncompressed textures. It should run very nicely when finished.

You’re right, if they had installed a study level sim like this in an arcade it would have been quite a novelty… especially since it looks sooo darn good 😉
