I like the ability to install addons from freeware/payware developers and since that will be some what limited on the Xbox version as it will have to be from the marketplace probably not, even if performance was better.

I wouldn't mind trying out the Xbox version if I did have the Series X as I think it could look rather good to have some fun in the living room.

Nope, I would not give up the freedom to install addons from freeware/payware developers for more speed.

no, because I need VR, and they said it is not going to happen on xbox. probably they expect too many support issues for the supposedly not-so-technical xbox customer.

had it VR, I might buy it. at 25% the cost of my pc's GPU, price is the least concern.

60-130 fps. no CPU overclocking.

very nice.

Honestly I would consider it seriously.

I was lucky enough to buy my hardware at stock prices before GPU market went crazy and I don't regret the purchase. But if I had an old PC now, well, I would buy an XBOX Series X and subscribe Game Pass (which I have on PC anyway). Even if for an year or so, it would be a good investment in order not to throw away 2.000 € for an RTX 3080.

I just can’t imagine getting the same vibe from an Xbox. I like being at my desk with a proper set up in front of me

MSFS 2024

Already have both and the answer is still no. For the sole reason of not being able to modify with addons.

I built my PC in July last year for MSFS only and upgraded all major components again at the beginning of this year. I managed to get an Xbox on release day from Best Buy for a completely different purpose and it will remain that way.

One major upside to XBOX being at play now is the crazy hardware requirements we saw in the past with FSX and P3D will be exactly that, a thing of the past.  XBOX will keep us with reasonable out the box performance on day one.  Microsoft will not allow a slide show (built for future hardware excuses) on their XBOX titles.  This will translate positively to the PC side on a more permanent bases.  Competition will have to catch up with this.  XPlane arcade graphics calling for hardware way beyond XBOX will not fly anymore.

Looking at the XBOX videos the tree draw distance is still the same as we have now.  Either again this issue has not been fixed as promised or compromises are being made for the XBOX (which is understandable).  It would take some time to see if the XBOX is viable.  If done right you could get an XBOX, Yoke/Peddles, VR headset, Keyboard, and mouse for a dedicated sim rig.  I could see flight schools loving this.   Right now I can't see how freeware and third party content bought outside the Marketplace can be resolved.  You would have to be able to get to the internal XBOX file structure to access the 'Community' folder.  We have one more day to see how this all shakes out and I'm watching with great curiosity.  I just hope for the PC version the patch is all Asobo claimed it is.

Honestly, I'm getting so many crashes to desktop in MSFS that I'm very seriously considering moving to the Xbox version.

Like others, without mods or VR it's a no.

If it had the same set up for both I wouldn't think twice about it. I'd go straight to Xbox.

1. Remove everything from your community folder (copy it to another folder to back it up first). Restart MSFS and try again.

2. Do not overclock anything in your computer.  Overclocking RAM, GPU, CPU, etc, leads to instability and CTDs in MSFS.

Unless you have faulty hardware on your PC, vanilla MSFS without any add-ons should be relatively stable.

Nope. Flying without my TrackIR is not an option.

Come here you big, beautiful cup of coffee and lie to me about how much we’re going to get done today.
