July 26, 20214 yr I already own an Xbox and it already outperforms my ancient PC. PC will still remain my simming platform of choice for the mod and hardware support. I'll check out MSFS on Xbox because I have gamepass but will stick with PC. I'm going to upgrade my PC once the chip shortage lets up and prices return to normal (hopefully). ------------------------- Craig from KBUF
July 26, 20214 yr No. Because part of the fun of simming is the freeware, mods and everything that goes with a PC, warts and all. There is something a bit too vanilla about the idea of simming on the Xbox. I like a bit of spice in my simming😉
July 26, 20214 yr Well, as I use VR - and the Fenix A320 is not coming to Xbox - my answer is no. July 26, 20214 yr The biggest issue for me would be lack of head tracking support, otherwise I would be quiet tempted..
July 26, 20214 yr My PC is a workstation for a ton of things such as design, study, training, making music and videos in addition to being for flight simming, so an XBox is never going to be able to replace all that functionality, however, I may possibly get hold of an XBox out of curiosity with regard to MSFS, but I would certainly not race out and buy one immediately. MSFS runs just fine on my PC, so there's no rush for me. I do welcome the arrival of MSFS on a console though, as it will certainly help to democratise flight simming a bit, making it less snooty and up its own @rse, which it can be incredibly guilty of. It will probably be good for expanding the hardware peripheral development market too. Alan Bradbury Check out my youtube flight sim videos: Here
July 26, 20214 yr Not for my main sim. As I use 4 screens and AirManager on one of them on a touch screen. As well as lots of peripherals. However, I would consider it as a second sim on my 4K TV for kids and other friends. It may be that at some point it could be used in a shared cockpit situation side by side with my current system, that would be really cool. And for VR it may be the perfect solution. Personally VR so far has been underwhelming to me anyway, I like the multi screen setup best. I have already recommended it, with the caveat to wait a while to see what peripherals are actually available. One of them was to a friend who also is a real life GA pilot and he wanted to set up a system, but he is not as technically inclined as me. I like programming and building Arduino projects etc. Com GA Pilot, Retired • FS2020 • FS2024 • Xplane 12 • Current Machine: MSI B760 GAMING PLUS WIFI• Gaming Desktop Motherboard Intel B760 Chipset • Intel Core i7 (14th Gen) i7-14700 3.40 GHz Processor 64GB RAM • 2 / M.2 SSD 1TB • MSI NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 Ti SUPER
July 26, 20214 yr I don't think anyone here on Avsim, well actually a few have them, would buy an Xbox for their flight sim of any kind. It's part of what they enjoy, not being in a closed system like any console. It's just who, not all, are the people that really ONLY, for the most part, do flight simulation. Once again not everyone here. But it's pretty much why Avsim exist at all. So 99.9% are going to tell you NO WAY! The other's like me, will probably get an Xbox. But I want my PC too, so I can use LNM, flightsim.to, all kinds of controllers, etc... You name it, most will hook up to a PC one way or the other 🙂 I know not everything and everyone are the same, and that is a good thing! Yet another reason a specific category would be good. But it's still not the right place for most of the Xbox crowd. And Avsim will never have a category for them, ever! Well, a 1% chance. You don't see a Multiplayer Sub Forum, which MS Flight had one on Avsim. And it's a big part of MSFS. But not here! A lot of people here, aren't crazy about having FUN! July 26, 20214 yr Author Commercial Member Because I work for flightsim developers I need my pc. The xbox is an unknown as of today but I am very curious. If it out preforms my older pc I think I would go that way, but only if I can still use download content such as new aircraft and save the pc for work. I did recommend the xbox to my friend that flys real. I told him buy a 3500 dollar pc or a 500 dollar xbox and just enjoy the flight.. July 26, 20214 yr It's tempting, and to be honest, I have thought about it... but it's too restrictive, in my opinion. Edited July 26, 20214 yr by anden145 Best regards,--Anders Bermann-- ____________________Scandinavian VAPilot-ID: SAS2471
July 26, 20214 yr I'll find out tomorrow evening what MSFS2020 is like on an Xbox X. My eldest son has one plugged into a large 4k TV. One of the reasons he bought it was because of this sim. I'm happy with the sims performance on my PC and I'm looking forward to tomorrows update. My graphics card is an RTX2070. If that thing goes west then I'm definitely getting an Xbox due to the impossibility of replacing my graphics card at the moment. Xbox's are available in the UK if you go through Microsoft to buy. £460 to buy as opposed to £1500 plus and an uncertain wait on availability to replace my graphics card? In those circumstances, yeah, I can live with an Xbox.

Ok keep the pc for when you want to tinker and the xbox for when you just want to fly. It all depends on Tuesday and how smooth they can make the pc version on the average gamer pc. If I still get stutters on my 1080 ti carded pc and the xbox is smooth than I know my decision. Paul Grubich 2017 - Professional texture artist painting virtual aircraft I love.
