But this may be the language barrier from my side (plus the acoustical quality of the stream). Could anyone extract more definite information on this point? Kind regards, Michael Starting at minute 57, the LOD level changes are causing the morphing and moving the terrain slider to 400 will minimize this effect by moving the morphing further away Of course that might tank the FPS, we'll see after SU6 is out Edited September 29, 20214 yr by peroni
September 29, 20214 yr forgive my ignorance. can someone explain the DX12 transition and why it may be optional. what is it exactly, pros and cons? can i use it?
September 29, 20214 yr The wish list for MSFS will always be a long one. Far better to sort out the bugs and have a better foundation to work with on future desires. The game is probably in the best playable state it has been since launch. Asobo need to incrementally build on this now at the right pace.

September 29, 20214 yr Was there any discussion regarding the bug some of us are seeing with extreme stutters on takeoff and landing? Zendesk responded to me this morning saying they can't replicate it, but would log it as a bug.

This is not to say they arent doing so in all the fixes, but if you listen to the Q&A Jorg has a good explanation for why they might hold back on an all out bug smash for updates that introduce new features and why an update focused exclusively on older outstanding bugs would remove this restriction.

It doesn't tank fps on my system, I just loose a very few fps under 2D. VR is another story, I can't go higher than 200 there, at least not with my system. Reduces morphing but doesn't completely eliminate it. Basically the sim has been ported to DX12 already for XBox. The same team who did that job will port the PC version to DX12. But Jorg said that they had learned from SU5, basically admitting they should have spent more time testing and fixing bugs before launching. In addition to that, people have been requesting the option to stay on certain versions for longer before updating to a new one. So this time they want the switch from DX11 to DX12 optional, at least until all issues are ironed out in the DX12 version. DX12 is a different somewhat more optimized version of rendering the sim / game. It also adds some optional features such as DLSS down the road. We shouldn't expect a magical increase in performance, but my personal belief is that it might actually make the sim more stable and somewhat smoother. It will also improve graphical fidelity in some areas such as reflections. Right now in the DX11 version some reflections are grainy, that can be fixed with DX12. They mentioned that they have looked at DLSS, but for now they don't see much improvement for it, but they will revisit DLSS when the DX12 version is 100% stable and the DX11 version is no longer needed. I would be careful here. From my experience with Prepar3d, DX12 indeed offers more possibilities and, maybe, performance optimizations. But on the other hand it is potentially more prone to GPU memory management issues which Prepar3d is suffering since the transition to DX12, although they have been minimizing them to an extent now. Kind regards, Michael That's interesting, I was trying to be a bit careful with the statement. But like Asobo said, they will polish the DX12 version until it's flawless, and only then will they remove DX11. So that's good.
