November 26, 20214 yr Slightly different but worth a highlight, the free FBW A320 + Payware FS2Crew for the FSW A320 + Pushback Express. Great combo, some nice realism, and a joy to fly. Edited November 26, 20214 yr by MarkW Mark CYYZ
November 26, 20214 yr Author Thanks for the suggestions. I do enjoy the DC-6. I wish I enjoyed the CRJ more. I guess, the Maddog will be next. That should be great! AMD 9950X3D | 64 GB RAM | RTX 5090 FMR: 747 FO, 757/767 CAPT, 737 Check Airman Current 777 CAPT
November 26, 20214 yr CRJ if you like modern airliners. I'm really excited about the The two competing ATRs coming out. Hans Hartmann vs. Milviz.. both are great. That's going to be a hard decision I think.

Your the Man 🙂💗 But if 250MPH is fast for an airliner they we go. Its fast🙂 I Stand corrected. O well...hanging head in shame.... That’s 311 True not indicated. November 27, 20214 yr My favorite plane changes often, but, recently I have enjoyed the freeware C152 masterpiece made available as the JPLogistics C152 Enhancement Mod (N95JPL and oliverpope03). IMO this is the most realistic airplane in the sim. Find it at flightsim.to My faster and higher flying favorite is also a freeware mod - the Robert Young Turbo Bonanza. This is a real treat and bring high altitude and high performance with a load of realism. Go find the latest update. Everyone who enjoys this one wants to make a donation. Very highly recommended. I also recommend the PMDG DC-6, a very enjoyable plane provided you spend the necessary time watching Robert's excellent tutorials and being patient with your progress. Not intended to be a jump and go fly for an hour airplane. The JPL C152 would be that one. I also favor the BN-2 while waiting for a couple of other high wing twins from Aerosoft - the Twin Otter and PBY. My favorite and highly recommended corporate jet is the Working Tittle CJ4. I'm not sure there is anything better out there at any price. This one is free and kept up-to-date with continuous improvements and accurate documentation. While you are selecting a new airplane you might look at the huge choice of payware airports. There are some great buys this weekend, especially some of the small PNW fields by Orbx and some of the popular ones in the French Alps. I especially like flying between Courchevel and Meribel in the JPL C152 - both low and high. The Carenado Mooney Ovation M20 keeps trying to be my favorite complex single, but, continues to struggle. Only buy this one when it is on sale. Your timing is perfect with the Black Friday/Cyber Monday sales. Regards, Ray When Pigs Fly . Ray Marshall .
November 27, 20214 yr Since nobody has mentioned the Focke Wulf/Piaggio 149 from ATS so far, I will. A very enjoyable GA tourer if you like hands-on flying! The last 6 months on MSFS I've almost exclusively divided my time between it (180+ hours) and the PMDG DC-6 (170+ hours), each of which I'm flying on complex round the world trips. The only other non-Asobo planes I own are the Turbo Arrows from Just Flight and the Milviz PC-6, neither of which I have really warmed to.

Agree... really nice airplane, but the cockpit texture problems post SU6 need to be fixed... even when the author is busy getting his AN-2 out the door.. 😉 Bert
November 27, 20214 yr Grumman_G-44_Widgeon is also a good little aircraft. https://fsprocedures.com Your home for all flight simulator related checklist.
November 28, 20214 yr Author Well, faith has been restored. The DC6 is awesome now with the "Dev Mode Tweak." No GPS makes it even better. Flying in bad weather with VORs and ADFs, no GPS, made the sim very very enjoyable. Forethought and planning makes it awesome, especially when flying at night. Night in this sim is DARK. Oh man, what a breath of fresh air. Not the best Procedure turn, but hey, at least it was within bounds LOL I've flown this approach many times in real life and in the sim, but those mountains are amazing with the new ORBX Alaska Mesh. I just wish the "sea ice" wasn't a solid sheet of ice. AMD 9950X3D | 64 GB RAM | RTX 5090 FMR: 747 FO, 757/767 CAPT, 737 Check Airman Current 777 CAPT
November 28, 20214 yr Ha....I love that red lighting in the DC6 at night. Seriously that plane is a whole lot of fun to fly and has basically meant every other plane in the sim is gathering dust in my hangar. Glad your enjoying it as much as I am.

I usually have about an hour or so to fly in the morning, and even though I have a ton of other payware planes, the DC-6 almost always get picked as I'm finding that just about all my other planes, I'm feeling more like a passenger than a pilot with all the modern gizmos that we take for granted today. I've never felt like that in the DC-6 unless I wanted to, meaning using the gyropilot when I want to admire the scenery floating by and not worry that I don't have her trimmed properly, or she'll start a gentle turn on the side where the engines are putting out a few HP less than they're actually indicating. 🙂 9 hours ago, V1ROTA7E said: what a breath of fresh air That she is....a fine piece of coding by the PMDG team and a radical departure from gear up, AP up, watch the plane fly itself. November 28, 20214 yr For airliners I swap back and forth between the Aerosoft CRJ and the FBW A320N. Both have given me a lot of good flights. WT CJ4 is free and an incredible business jet simulation. No one mentioned helicopters at all I don’t think, the Hype H145 is incredible and the first helicopter that has kept me from fixed wing flying for a sustained duration in any sim. For GA my favourites are the Just Flight Turbo Arrows, Milviz PC-6 is also very well done. The Blackbox BN-2 is really good…just picked it up on sale and I’m getting used to it but so far so good. It sounds great and just flies nicely. I’ll say the DC-6 is probably the best aircraft I need to spend more time in. I appreciate it for what it is, but I guess it’s not really my favourite type of flying so it spends more time in the hanger than it deserves to. This is what’s keeping me busy these days. Lots of good stuff out there, but also lots of junk to be avoided.
