No. Nor the default airport buildings not appearing until Scenery complexity is set to Very Dense. And surprise surprise, no mention of DXGI. 🤨 But There appears to be plenty of good things. December 1, 20214 yr So that I'm absolutely clear on this ... Download the full installer Uninstall only client, content, and scenery via the Windows uninstaller (and don't deactivate the license when uninstalled the client) Run the full installer Has anyone uninstalled the client, content, and scenery and then simply downloaded each installer and installed individually? That's what I normally do and I was wondering if there's something special about downloading the full installer rather than this method. Well for one thing, you will have the entire set up as a back up archive... Right now, I am running the Set UP app, and only deleted the 'three musketeers'. Left the 68 GB app install alone, so all my out-of-sim stuff will be picked up on first run...

Well Orbx stuff is super easy to reinstall - just move them in and out or just click on resync on Orbx Central and all addons are installed (provided it is installed outside the sim). No idea about Aerosoft Madeira FSLabs is external install - but you will need to wait for next update (I dunno why they lock it to sim version number) PMDG 777 - Boooo have to uninstall and waste time b/c they just don't do external installs A2A - external install (drag and drop - move it out during uninstall / install of new P3D, drag it back to addon directory) Side Note - FSDT products are great as they install outside (drag out and drag in to addon directory) Boo to some other big developers b/c they do half but(t) work with broken external installs (there are files in effects folders which can added to external install but no!!! cuz they lazy, I have 100% given up on those devs - see all insane number of posts on them, sad they get no money from me). With external installations I waste really no time with P3D reinstall, it is fantastic experience (push your devs do it) Edited December 1, 20214 yr by Skywolf How I Evaluate Third Party Sim Addon Developers Refined P3Dv5.0 HF2 Settings Part1 (has MaddogX) and older thread Part 2 (has PMDG 747)

Ray, I can see that your system specs are very similar to mine. Did you notice any improvement at the heavy airports at night with the new version? Some airports are extremely taxing when dynamic lights are on, but not all.

Again...somebody's been listening to the chatter....I mean...look at this list packet...wow! Everybody be sure to delete your Shader Folder!!!!!! Before you run the new edition... Post Edit...I can only imagine that some on the MSFS forum are thinking and tapping their fingers..."Hmmm..maybe I was too hasty in deleting the entire sim....hmmmm...." 🙂 Yep! P3d is keeping up beautifully.
December 2, 20214 yr This was a fast and easy installation: - Uninstall in this order: scenery, content, base - Install with the full installer. RXP GTN and GNS are picked up automatically because they use the "external add-on" method. Working on the update for the autopilot link right now (the only thing requiring manual update, all the rest is fully functional so far). Enjoy the screenshot for now: PS: settings for this screenshot are: FXAA, 4xSSAA, Aniso 8x, Texture Res. Ultra, Water Detail Med, EA Clouds Med, Edited December 2, 20214 yr by RXP
December 2, 20214 yr Thanks for the heads up on 5.3. A complete uninstall of 5.2 and new install of 5.3 noted . Mere supposition at this stage but given all the updates to PBR etc to scenery, autogen, objects etc etc on top of the earlier versions fixes to mesh all over and geographic outlines - it may just be that ORBX Global and Global Vector are no longer needed or required. Have they fixed Sim Director I wonder, the release notes say they have!. There is a significant improvement in the multi-user or multi-player functionality hinted at as well. It does seem they have upgraded the GPS functionality to allow for proper FMS FMC operation and various IAP procedures as well. It looks like a lot of functional and hence performance bottle necks have been fixed as well.

December 2, 20214 yr Well, I had a successful install 1. Did the install from Set Up 2. Went to Orbx Central and verified all Global assets 3 Did an Orbx P3D v5 re-sync. 4 Went to User Apps Local and deleted the v5 Shader folder. 5 Went and got the H.F. Active sky for v5.3 6 Went to the kitchen and poured another coffee 7. Will soon run P3D v5.3 after I have all my Global Orbx products 'file verified' to reload them into the Scenery Folder... 8. Will hold my breath, and hit the start button... 🙂 Edited December 2, 20214 yr by Sesquashtoo

December 2, 20214 yr So just to get this right...Can I just delete my Client, Scenery, and Content, and RESINSTALL those 3 files? OR do I have to do a complete reinstall of P3d? Stan

OR do I have to do a complete reinstall of P3d? Stan Stan, I suggest: 1. Delete the v5.2 Scenery. Delete Content. Delete Client but do not deactivate the license. Don't touch the P3D v5.(x) 68 GB top entry. Download the entire zip...and unzip to a desktop folder. Then fire up the Set Up app and point to your (still) P3D v5 folder on whatever drive. Let the Set Up do its thing Then open up Orbx Central and go to your BASE, and use 'verify' on everything that is in there, for this will place all those files that sit in the Scenery Folder. Then, use re-sync so all the other airports and stuff are seen by the install on first run. That pretty much is it for Orbx Content. Then, you need to get the Active Sky v5.3 beta...and you might need to reinstall Hendrik's boats...putting all the files back into the Scnery folder and turning off the boats.bgl, to boats.lgb Niggly things like that...and oh...remember to go into your Hidden Folder/User Apps and delete the P3D v5 Shader Folder before first run. That will then compile all the shaders to v5.3 specs. Have fun...as I'm about to fire it up for the first time. I still 'verifying' my Orbx GLOBALS in the background...but will soon be done...
