It seems to work intermittently. Hit or miss.

Visibility haze/fog seems to be rendering, but nothing else is working, no clouds no wind, completely inaccurate temperatures.

The $200 license had nothing to do with developers which was another tier but was for people not willing to pretend they qualified as 'students' under their definition.  Still, for $50 you got what you did:  no live weather, garbage airports, scenery and I forgot to mention marginal performance by comparison.

I agree with this statement if you mean by 'advertised' what someone essentially unfamiliar with flight simulation might have seen in a trailer.  Since very early they announced their rough sim update and world update schedules it started being very clear this was a work in progress. The writing has been plastered all over the wall since the very first updates.

Appears to be up at least in the Midwest USA now.

I should say this was a fresh start of the sim though.  Earlier today it was NOT working.

FALSE ALARM lol.  It was showing correct in the world planning screen.  But in the sim it's still clear and 29.92

I have never consistently used Rex because of the global nature of its weather.  The sudden change of weather is such a let down after a year of MSFS weather.  However, because live weather has been inconsistent recently, I have used Rex a few times.  I do agree it's portrayal of the local weather is really nice - overcast, cloud layers and visibility are great.

Maybe I have a setting in REX that needs tweaking.  The transition from clear skies to cloudy is just too sudden.  If my flight is 100 miles, and the first airport reporting overcast is 80 miles away, I would expect a gradual transition over that whole 80 miles.  What I actually see are clear skies until a minute or so from the next metar, then a rapid change to overcast.

How long did it take them last time?  It was well beyond the order of days.  Unacceptable, in my opinion, for a piece of software that was sold as being finished, albeit "planned to be improved upon".

Has anybody tried Weather Preset Pro by SoFly as a back up weather add-on ?

Need Hi Fi Sim / Active Sky.   And if people still want to use the MS Weather allow them to.  But at least we would have a reliable weather source.  I do have to admit I am starting to get MSFS fatigue after trying to stay patient for well over a year

Yes I understand, but what I also appreciate is that is not always the case, for example SU6 which was the repair job and then some to SU5 which was 100% about Xbox.  And I've been flying nearly every day despite the breakage.   Even now, w/ Live Weather taking New Year's Day off I am flying thru this which is nothing short of breathtaking.  I have rarely ever used presets but clearly they can be lovely to look at if not matching reality particularly well!  What I also recall is it took awhile to get night lighting dialed in but once they did, it's really been fabulous.  Hopefully they will make good on their statement that they are focused on stability in 2022, separating sim and world updates, fixing bugs in the SU8 update, and there is zero reason to believe they won't follow thru on this stated focus.  And furthermore, everyone here understands we are in the midst of addressing weather, it's a holiday, and the reality is once the hot temp bug was solved we've rarely seen Live Weather wholesale turned off.

I find it ironic that so many people's "solutions" and recommendations for dealing with all the bugs and errors in the release version was to get in on the Beta version.

Well. No, it's not. 

The release version is the normal version, and that's the one that should be bug free. 
The Beta version is the testing version. Bugs should be expected and dealt with. No complaints. Just report it up the chain in the proper channels. You're the guinea pig.

Hope you guys get it sorted. If the normal version is anything to go by, it could take months. However I believe they'll fix this relatively soon.

I just finished a flight from St Louis to Minneapolis.  MSFS default was a non-starter from KSUS. Clear skies and springtime temperature on a snowy day.  So I loaded REX WF.  Sat for about 4 minutes until it took over the weather.  It was spot on.  Ceiling, vis, precip, pressure.  After my takeoff the first ATIS/AWOS enroute was KIRK Kirksville, Missouri.  The weather in the sim was still spot on, but the ATIS/AWOS was from Mars!  Same at Des Moines and Ft Dodge, Iowa.  I was on top at 12,000.  Should have been breaking out into clear(er) weather below by then but had not found that. 

Switched to MSFS Live and was presented with a weird, flat overcast below that had absolutely no texture definition. Looked like a layer of typing paper.  ATIS/AWOS at Ft Dodge and then at Mankato, Minnesota bore no connection to live metars.  Again was on MSFS live weather at those checkpoints.n  ATIS reported winds were alarming.  Very very high.  At times my winds at 12,000 went to 60 knots, then later fell to 3 knots.  The direction of the winds was representative of RW, but not the speeds.

I now feel that when weather is screwed up at the start of a flight, it stays screwed up, no matter what the source, default or 3^rd party add in.  Switching weather sources during flight clearly raises issues that do not go away.

                   LOL I hear ya on the beta.... But I think some of us have gone to beta out of desperation. 😮

 

I doubt they'll fix the issue over the weekend. It's the weekend, also New Years Day.

This is borderline scandalous that they have no contingency plan in place a year and a half into the go-live. If you are offering a product that heavily relies on online services, you better have a solid plan in place to keep things online and operational. There's no excuse for this.
