Right or wrong... But I wouldn't expect a french company to work on a holiday.

The servers infrastructure  is run by Microsoft not Asobo which is just the developer.  So your French bashing cliché is both stupid and wrong.

A great start, 2022 starts under the conjugated  signs of prejudice, ignorance and stupidity.

For your perusal, France has not annexed Switzerland and does not intent to. Labor laws in France and Switzerland are not the same.

Here is the names of MB management team, typical French names, based in Basel a typical Swiss French city 🤣

I bet he does not use the weather in MSFS for his flying.

You’re overreacting.

The current situation isn't good enough though is it?

Someone with the technical knowhow should be on call (which would be part of their contract and be paid handsomely for it)  to react to instances like this, they might not even need to leave their house to fix it, and if they do so what.

I'm not considering expecting a better level of service whining, I think we all paid for this and have the right to expect just that. Hopefully they'll get it addressed soon and do better in the future.

The thing is, Microsoft put our sim and crucial elements within it online at the mercy of the servers etc. They chose this way and I think it's the correct modern dynamic way to enable a next generation simulator to function, but they have to have the systems in place to let the sim function as intended when problems arise, yes I love the sim Microsoft but in so many ways you need to up your game.

This outage is a shame. Once again, it seems that the left seat is empty. Big words, no decent management of quality of products or services.

Perhaps the French have cut off the power supply to the servers unless their demands for more fishing licences in Swiss lakes are met?😂

MSFS2020; Brilliant when it works, frustratingly annoying when it doesn't.

MS/Jorg need to get a grip and they've needed to get a grip since the beginning!

Pico Neo3 Link VR - Windows 11 64bit, Gigabyte Z590 Aorus Elite Mobo, i7-10700KF CPU, Gigabyte RX 9070 XT OC 16gb (AMD GPU), 32gig Corsair 3600mhz RAM, SSD x2 + M.2 SSD 1tb x1

Saitek X45 HOTAS - Saitek Pro Rudder Pedals - Logitech Flight Yoke - Homemade 3 Button & 8-directional Joystick Box, SNES Controller (used as a Button Box - Additional USB Numpad (used as a Button Box)

worst part is getting CTDs mid flight/landing as a result of these server issues. I hope xp12 can compete a little bit w MSFS, but probably not. MS knows they have this market well under control and basically they will  fix things if and when they feel like it.

Also, MSFS is not obviously a work in progress. It was never advertised as anything other than a fully developed software. No early access tag, beta access tag or whatever you want to call it anywhere. We know it's still lacking in some ways because we either use it or are more invested in the flight sim community, but anyone else is never made aware of it when purchasing, so getting disappointed at the work in progress state is not on them.

Uh, I have to take issue with this. When MSFS was announced, MS and Asobo clearly stated that this was a 10 year project. That statement clearly, unequivocally told us that the sim would be changing and expanding throughout that 10 year period. When I bought it, I knew that the final version of the product would not be available for at least another 9 years. They created a new engine, stripped out everything that that they could not immediately port over from FSX and released the base product. I got exactly what I was expecting when I purchased it (and I let it sit on the shelf for the 1st year until it got good enough for me to start using on a regular basis). Now they are in the process of adding everything else back in. Again. Exactly what I expected. There will be growing pains. If you are not the type of person that handles change, then MSFS is probably not a good hobby for you, At least not now. Come back when it's finished. I feel like I am sitting at the chef's table watching my meal getting created while tasting savory samples along the way.

But MSFS isn't done. It ain't gonna be done anytime soon. Repeat that to yourself every morning when you wake up. it has another 8+ years to get there. As advertised in the beginning. We can fly now, so we got what we paid for.

I just finished a flight from St Louis to Minneapolis.  MSFS default was a non-starter from KSUS. Clear skies and springtime temperature on a snowy day.  So I loaded REX WF.  Sat for about 4 minutes until it took over the weather.  It was spot on.  Ceiling, vis, precip, pressure.  After my takeoff the first ATIS/AWOS enroute was KIRK Kirksville, Missouri.  The weather in the sim was still spot on, but the ATIS/AWOS was from Mars!  Same at Des Moines and Ft Dodge, Iowa.  I was on top at 12,000.  Should have been breaking out into clear(er) weather below by then but had not found that.

Switched to MSFS Live and was presented with a weird, flat overcast below that had absolutely no texture definition. Looked like a layer of typing paper.  ATIS/AWOS at Ft Dodge and then at Mankato, Minnesota bore no connection to live metars.  Again was on MSFS live weather at those checkpoints.n  ATIS reported winds were alarming.  Very very high.  At times my winds at 12,000 went to 60 knots, then later fell to 3 knots.  The direction of the winds was representative of RW, but not the speeds.

I now feel that when weather is screwed up at the start of a flight, it stays screwed up, no matter what the source, default or 3rd party add in.  Switching weather sources during flight clearly raises issues that do not go away.

I'm reading this imagining the weather engine thinking WTH is this guy doing to me? lol...

If Planetside 2 lasted 10 years, there's no reason MSFS won't last that long, especially with their marketplace thriving...

This is one thing I agree with. If MSFS had serious competition then they'd fix and correct things much faster. But like you said, XP12 probably won't be serious competition and users of both sims will suffer for it.
