January 2, 20224 yr I see a criticism for payware addon Weather in other Sims. What do you want for free weather servers? A rubber biscuit.

For losing online services and having fallback servers with the last known good configuration to quickly switch over in situations like this. If you are offering a product that heavily relies on online services, you better have a solid plan in place to keep things online and operational. There's no excuse for this. Absolutely agree. I have been very patient with the whole evolution of MSFS. However to not provide a basic feature of advertised live weather is simply not good enough. I have lived with the servers going down on a regular basis and the changing quality of the weather. However I am on holidays, have some free time and would like to go flying and experience live weather. That was in June and July, 2021. I support these current complaints! Full on! As I have stated the past few weeks, my experience with MSFS live weather has improved significantly. But! There needs to be some built-in redundancy with the weather, and the weather needs to be integrated with communications. ATC needs fixing. ATIS/AWOS is a horrible embarrassment. And without WT and PMS the GPS avionics would be fit for an Atari game box. Its time to pour resources into those areas and hold off on additional eye-candy until those are legitimate. January 2, 20224 yr The real shame in all this is that there was a good, viable, FREE alternative in Unreal Weather that worked well for terminals... Unfortunately when they broke their own weather, they took that down as well. SAR Pilot. Flight Sim'ing since the beginning.

I give them praise when they deserve it, but I will also say it like it is when I think they're doing something wrong. The constant outages of online services and their inability to properly regression test their releases, are the two of my biggest issues with them, I can deal with the rest of the little things. They are the ones that chose the architecture to include most everything operating the platform reliant on online services, so the expectation is that indeed things may go down. I understand an hour, two or five but not only this happens way too often and it is pretty evident they don't have much strategy for bringing things back online rather quickly - that's my only beef in this particular case. January 2, 20224 yr Oh I'm sure that Monday morning somebody will wander in, have a cup of coffee...maybe a donut. Then they'll take a look and reboot the ol' server and everything will be fine. No hurry, right? A 24 hour outage (and counting) is unbelievably, incredibly bad. Where I work, we'd all be fired.
