It is not an update!!!!!!! It is called a "beta"...Get it?

Correct, it's a beta test of an update. Or are you talking about the sim as a whole?

The new propeller modelling which curiously comes with this debugging update is, of course, good and welcome news. I hope that it is as good as it seems.

On the other hand, I read twice the release notes and  what I see will improve marginally my own simming experience (YMMV of course).  The number of items which « denotes issues that were identified by the player » is telling. Being kind and all, I’d say they listen to us with half an ear at best.

Now I cross my fingers and have thrown a pinch of salt over my shoulder in waiting for the mandatory release.  Hanging a rabbit foot over my computer should help too, I think. Anyway, SU8 is an even number so we may be luckier than with the wretched SU 5 and 7. Thats all the trust that I put in the update right now. Superstition rules.

Come on Dominique - it's great.  Reading the patch notes, it has solved a whole load of problems I never knew I had!

Meanwhile, the ones I do have.....

Just a question.  Does anyone else think the current state of the ground handling should be a priority before looking at other things such as propwash etc.?  They seem to be doing it in reverse order, as surely the ground handling, friction, and overdone reaction to cross wind should be attended to first if they want us to feel a realistic effect of the propwash.
I just don't get it; there seems to be no logic or methodology to what they are working on.

People may say 'ground handling isn't a bug to be fixed, it will be a feature to be added in future, and this is a bug-fix beta'.  Well, propwash effects weren't a bug either, it is a new feature, but it was added in this release.  I dare say the usual suspects on here will criticise this as being negative, and Asobo bashing, but it isn't - I just want to understand what the hell in going on in their heads. 😕

Rob (but call me Bob or Rob, I don't mind).

I like to trick airline passengers into thinking I have my own swimming pool in my back yard by painting a large blue rectangle on my patio.

Intel 14900K in a Z790 motherboard with water cooling, RTX 4080, 32 GB 6000 CL30 DDR5 RAM, W11 and MSFS on Samsung 980 Pro NVME SSD's.  Core Isolation Off, Game Mode Off.

Sadly two major issues are not planned to be fixed in SU8:

  1. Runway or taxiway lights floating or missing when arriving an airport at night or in low vis.
  2. Snow coverage on all airport movement surfaces creating a huge plain white area making you not know if you're still on a TWY or hard surface or already taxiing somewhere across the field over soft ground.

I'm afraid, investing 1k € into MSFS Addons is postponed until SU9 (May??) then.

If innieBuilds released their A310 before SU9, my patience will be stressed out even more 😔😔😔

Still haven't spent a single Cent on MSFS addons yet and if necessary I'll wait another year or two until those two bugs to be fixed eventually.

I do agree some things are being done in an odd order.

I love when a fellow simmer writes about the MSFS team listening to us. It  always gives me the opportunity of a good laugh.

They have announced a third video on aerodynamics, they may give some indications.

Oh dear ,What do I say... I have not had one hiccup with this sim since launch ,, apart from a couple of insignificant matters .Now that does not address matters such as flight dynamics ;weather etc. etc. I am looking forward to the time when this sim really starts to get wings.. So far there is a distinct possibiilty that this will happen.

However I do feel for those guys (and gals) who are experiencing real and significant problems.

My comment was to attempt tp educate the earlier poster (and others) that a beta is an attempt at "quality control" from the masses rather than the in house developers.

I will dig deeper and see. It was all fine before SU7, maybe it reset something.

If you purchase Bijan seasons, then there is an terrain mask opacity option which removes most of the snow from taxiways/runways etc. The Bijan seasons is outstanding. If its the only addon you purchase right now, it will really bring more quality to your sim - especially during winter season.

Unfortunately there's no Quality Control at all from the developers as has been proven time & time again through past updates, leaving it to the players to continually point out the obvious is now extremely frustrating not to mention tiring.

As mentioned above, a mere 7 items fixed due to Community Feedback...that tells me all I need to know, they have their own agenda on fixes and only started a beta to appease those who screamed for it. According to Pre Release Alpha testers there are still bugs not fixed (or in this list) that they acknowledged at the time, it's become evident we're better off talking to a brick wall.

The VR issues alone since SU7 are just so obviously pathetic it's untrue, the very fact they've made it this far is proof that they have zero Quality Control in house and it begs the question do they even Play let alone Test VR in house?! If there's no update to these bugs during this beta it means waiting until SU9 in the failing hope they finally address them.

Actually, almost all of those items on the list were reported on the official forums by users, devs and earlier beta testers. However only a few threads were marked as "bug logged" - perhaps because some of these were caught and logged in internal testing (but I'm speculating so who knows). Simply putting a tag on threads would go a long way in letting reporters know that the issue is at least being triaged.

So I was wrong about the button you use to toggle the zoom, its the button you use to toggle freelook - so in my case its one click of the mouse wheel (mid click), using the mid click to position my view over the area I want to zoom in on..I use the mid click as well as the button I have assigned to activate the zoom (which in my case is an additional button on the side of my mouse). When using both in combination, my view resets itself to the unzoomed position, it doesn't "stick" to the zoomed profile. If I zoom in on an area without pressing the mid click, it stays until I press the mid click again to move the position. Regardless of what button I use to toggle the zoom, the issue still persists.

Typical development tactic, pick the low hanging fruit first.

Hi,

They talk about a "new propellers physic" but I have not find some informations on how to use this new physic on one of my aircrafts ?

Is this new physics in the settings of the CFG files ? I didn't find anything special in the C152 but I probably didn't look hard enough. Does anyone have the answer?

Sorry, I just find this: https://forums.flightsimulator.com/t/new-prop-physics/497323
