SP1 Technical Issue Thread

Featured Replies

For me pop-ups is not an issue, I'm quite used to them in Lock-On, Falcon4, Il-2 and you name other flight sims. Of course I would trade off pop-ups for better FPS in a heart bit, but I wish the code would give me an option in the config to cusomize the distance that I could play with. Anyway, SP1 rocks now quality vs. performance wise. My only scepticism is the weather, I feel the winds, clouds are somewhat off. But that's just my feeling. On the other hand, there is no riding on the rails anymore, you feel like you are flying in the atmosphere, with all the bumps and shaking, particularly on final.

Not exactly sure what you mean by "glass panels", but its the view other than the virtual cockpit (i.e. the entire panel is before you and you have to click on the little icons on the panel to bring up the GPS, radio stack, etc).Like I mentioned before, everything outside of the plane is sharp, just the standard cockpit view is blurry. Virtual Cockpit is sharp as well.My previous post described an issue I was having with the screen going completely white when I clicked on any button in the standard cockpit view. This was in the King Air...when I opened the Baron, I didn't have the same "screen to white" problem, but still the blurry standard panel. Thanks for your help.

>What can be done to mitigate autogen pop?I think I read in Phil's blog that having autogen smoothly appear was causing a huge performance hit, so they decided the autogen pop was more desirable than the huge performance hit. He also said they would be looking at it again in the future with DX10. Perhaps DX10 will allow the autogen to smoothly appear without causing a huge performance hit. For now, we are stuck with the pop -- but Phil will be looking at it again in the future.

FSX SP1 seems to hang when loading flight plans - anyone else experiencing this? I'm loading flight plans generated by simroutes in fs9 format. Worked before SP1..

I have disabled autogen, I can't be done with the popping and performance dwindling through it.I have reduced a lot of settings and in order to reduce the stutterings, I capped fps to 20 - I call it conservative capping and setting it to 'unlimited' may well get into the dizzy heights of 30-40fps, it is meaningless when the system keeps stuttering every 1 second. Before sp1 I had the fps cap at 15fps, so a 33% increase is well within the objectives of Aces I suppose!I suppose I won't be able to make many flights in NY etc as it will go down to 7fps, but as long as I have my jetways, 2x water, decent traffic and cars on the road I can live.

My 2 cents:After applying SP1, I got many display driver crashes while trying to make 2D panels appear on screen (F10 or shift-1, -2, -3...)Fixed it by scaling down from NVIDIA Beta 158.43beta (or Guru3D 160.03)to standard 158.18WHQL.I now can happily confirm the 15-20% SP1 FPS bonus.--HuguesIntel 6600 core2 duo2 x 8800GTX SLIVista32

I am getting this error everytime I try to run FSX after SP1. How can I fix this. (See attached pic) SP! did install completely. It want me to activate. I already activated months ago. There is no way to activate. Someone please help I do not want to reinstall and reinstall all the other stuff with it.

Moved to other thread

Hi David - I used a fix for the window relextions of default aircraft. Not at home now so I don't have name of the file - will check later and let you know (if I can find it). Otherwise you can search Avsim's library for fsx for "reflextion" or something like that.

I would also like the answer to this question... I hope it can be solved by changing a setting.

I don't know if the following was happening prior to SP1 but it may help someone with stutters:Using Nvidia 158.18 for vista 32, 7900 gs card I noticed when I set my antialiasing to something other than application controlled in the nvida control panel and fly in FSX in full screen mode I get immense stuttering and fluctuations in frame rates.I went from 30 fps and utterly smooth near PANC in Alaska at 12,000 feet to 10 fps and major stutters. Windowed mode seems to not have this problem. This is on a core2duo, 4gb of ram and vista 32. At least on my machine, keeping Antialiasing checked within FSX is a must. Ian.
