Does anyone have experience with the new Birds from Taburet?

I bought a few of the ones from South Oak, but they don't really do it for me...

I haven't got the South Oak ones because they have broken it up into too many regions. At least this is the entire country. I'd like to see some reviews first.

Hmmmmmmm..... The birds do not appear to be animated, in the trailer video..... (No wings flapping)

To be fair, the "other" product has some non-flapping birds as well, though there seems to be a mix of random animations available?

Sorry, but IMO this is a ridiculous product. 18 euros for some inanimate birds that are only seen in a small area.

I've just this second watched the video.   Hilarious.

I have the one covering the UK and really like it. Most of the time I forget about it but when I notice them it always makes me smile. It doesn't look totally realistic but it does add to the overall experience for me. 

There is also no impact on performance with the South Oaks one so I'm curious to see if this is the same. 

On the UK version, I didn't find enough birds to make the thing worthwhile. It didn't really add enough to the sim to be able to recommend it.

It’s Taburet, what do you expect 🙂I have South Oaks FSBirds. They are ok, a bit repetitive though, as their flock of birds is always composed of the same number of birds, flying at the same speed. I only bought the birds for the US west coast and UK (with a small discount) as these are the regions I mostly fly VFR.

Taburet‘s addon doesn‘t look good. Just another poorly done but relatively expensive product that fits their portfolio. Also be aware that the description says: „some graphic adjustments to accomodate this scenery might be required“ which raises eybrows IMO. 

I don't really care about the product but I find this part of the description amusing: "No need to go and look for birds; it will be the birds coming to look for you"

I just imagine some Alfred Hitchcock like suicide birds dive bombing your plane as soon as you load into the sim with blood everywhere and destroyed windows. Maybe add some dramatic music on top?

that is your opinion; the opinion of somebody that did not even test the scenery; with all respect worthless !

The addon is light on fps; however it is always better to say 'you might' need to adjust graphics to achieve best performance; you be amazed some do not know that.

I suggest before comment on any addons; is to actually have them installed first; if do not have installed better not comment as you do not have an idea how anything look or can do.

This does remind me of a lady who goes by the name Andfly, who repeatedly made animated freeware for Outerra. (Remember that? Soon to be a flight simulator from Microprose....)

She was always doing animals with natural and emergent-autonomous flocking behaviors: Whales, bees, birds.....

Something along those lines would be much more interesting, I think.

This is a complete waste ot money. These bird addons look completely unnatural (not the ones in the video above, don't interact with your aircraft, etc. They look like paper airplanes shot out of a toy cannon. 

OTOH, realistic looking flocks of birds that behave naturally would probably kill performance.

Who needs to test the scenery?  You put out an hour-long video showing the product.  All someone has to do is watch it and make their opinion.  No need to pay for it to see what it is, enough to have on opinion on it right?

I can understand your frustration when people share negative opinions on your work, but you, as a Dev, have to be above the name-calling and adversarial tone, regardless of how much you want to lash out (trust me...it won't increase sales).

You're the Dev, you take our money...We're the customers giving you that money. (or not giving in many cases quickly building as you continue your crusade to defend your "with all respect", completely sub-par products).

Look in the mirror and see someone who also fits this description.  You seem to have no clue that the simmers that you are railing against actually do have a clue, and in some cases been in flight simming for decades, have seen good and bad products over that time, and certainly know your company's history with the many products you sell.  You don't (and certainly as a Dev) accuse people of having no clue (HINT: yet another trigger phrase) when you are trying to sell them something.  You can use many other, more non-adversarial phrases to get your point across, favorably with specific examples vs a blanket statement that inflames everyone and encourages them to lash right back at you....again.....let me remind you...YOU are the person selling this stuff. 🙂 

True...nobody should make an assumption about a particular product based solely on a company's past products or history, but again, your 1 hour video should be watched by all wanting to comment here on the product. 

Since I've watched it, I know that I will not buy this particular product, but encourage others who are considering it, to watch the video and make your own choice.

I hope you create better packages in the future, especially scenery which is much more intriguing to me.   Your comments in the San Francisco post regarding PBR and other details left me doubtful I'd ever purchase your products since I know I'd like more realism vs just content in my sim.  I watched the video of that package as well....as soon as you switched to night, I made my decision instantly as the day-glow, low-rez, FS2004ish buildings mixed in with the properly lit default buildings completely destroyed the immersion.  As a positive, the day textures did not look that bad IMO, but I just don't fly in the daytime.

but let me put across a couple important points;

I am not here to sell anything; I am just here to ask question about the work I do; some might like some do not; fine for me;  but no misinformation; and yes the videos are up to show what a scenery is; than is up to you to decide. 

My vision is simple and straight forward and San Francisco is an example;  I write in the forum and also clearly San Francisco show is not pbr;  and come here and say again; SF do not feature pbr textures;  if you like pbr exclusively than is not for you. 

Again; I am not here to sell anything; I am here to try stop misinformation; and to be clear; the majority of simmers enjoy the work done at my end. That is good enough for me; of course a minority can be more demanding in addons and I perfectly understand;  you do not like ? Nobody force you to buy it; but do not stop with misinformation others that might enjoy it. Subpar or not subpar like many others work out there some better than others from major addons companies; either sold in their shops or marketplace; bought also by myself some good some not good; however I am not going around forums starting telenovelas about a scenery or accusing anybody of anything.

the rule here is: you need it ? you want it ?  get it

is not for you:  move on

Adding too much fancy stuff to scenery as the sim is underperforming due to a bug introduced 5 month ago and with the possibility of more bumps on the roads; not good advice; there is enough waste ware works out there; and yes some are even still on sale.

I bought a couple regions because I really liked the idea and fell for a trailer and still photos.  I would not do it again--the animation quality is poor!  Flappy Birds!  And the cluster of small birds pecking gravel on taxiways etc are rediculous you can and will taxi right over them and there they stay!   I gave them my true feelings about their product and they told me they are working on improving the product now but I have my doubts!
