Long haulers

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm currently a P3D user with the PMDG 777 and QW787.

I'm looking to move to MSFS...what really good (PMDG level) long haulers are there available?

Thanks

Right now I don't think there are any if you are thinking heavies.   I use the default B78X modded by Heavy Division.  It's decent for OEM and I use it for longer haul flights in A Pilot's Life v2.  PMDG has said they will be developing 777 for MSFS but that has to be a fairly long ways out.  Currently they offer PMDG 737 and DC-6 and both are well-received.   Perhaps someone else is aware of other offerings to help meet your needs.

System:  9900X3D Noctua NH-D15 G2, MSI Pro 650-P WiFi, G.SKILL  64GB (2 x 32GB) 288-Pin PC RAM DDR5 6000, WD NVMe 2Tb x 1, Sabrent NVMe 2Tb x 1, RTX 4090 FE, Corsair RM1000W PSU, Win11 Home, LG Ultra Curved Gsync Ultimate 3440x1440, Phanteks Enthoo Pro Case, TCA Boeing Edition Yoke & TQ, Cessna Trim Wheel, RTSS Framerate Limiter w/ Front Edge Sync.

Aircraft used in MSFS 2024:  Fenix A320,  Aerosoft CRJ, FBW, WT 787X, I-Fly 737 MAX 8, Citation Longitude.

The PMDG 737-700 BBJ has a 6,000 nm range. So, that'll get you to most places if you're looking to do long hauls.

Free high fidelity A310 coming in the fall…that’s a fairly long distance aircraft.

If looking to move to MSFS with a good high fidelity long-hauler, your best best is to wait until the November update of MSFS which will include the iniBuilds A310, more details of their partnership with MS/Asobo here: https://forum.inibuilds.com/topic/5112-inibuilds-development-update-partnership-with-microsoft-flight-simulator/

The PMDG 777 is coming maybe in late 4Q22 but more likely in 1Q23, check the updates on their site/forums for more details.

As others said, if you only fly long haulers you would have to wait until the end of the year. As good as the mods for the 747 and 787 in MSFS are, they are not even close to any advanced product.

For transparency: I'm a community mentor at the BATC discord. However, I do not get paid for it in any way.

Heavy Division 787 mod. Saltys 747 mod. In many ways, these two are at or above payware level (for example, simbrief integration, which other "highly regarded payware companies" with "500 real world piots" are struggling to implement.

And in what other way of the "many ways"? Because last time I flew them a couple of months ago they had barely any moving knobs or any FMC that went beyond basic flight usage. Hell even the CJ4 is far from study level. Don't make that guy believe these mods are anywhere close to what he experiences on the PMDG 747.

My gosh. Did a PMDG guy do something wrong to you?

The HD787 is a million times worse than the 737.

So simbrief integration is the standard by which we define something as advanced and warrants being superior to the PMDG 737...

In what other ways is is a more realistic simulation of the 787 compared to the PMDG 737?  I'm interested in the "many ways" it is at or above the payware offerings...

To answer the OP for long haul heavies as many have mentioned there just aren't good options yet.  The 737/320 can do a pretty good segment though.  But for me I use the 7x7 series in P3D, QW 787 PMDG 747/777

Come on guys lets lighten up on Ricardo, its obvious he is being sarcastic.

Headwind A330-900. Regarding avionics, it's about 2 or 3 steps behind the FBW A320 Neo, i.e., it's not bad at all.
